Airplane reservations and train tickets are in hand ! My fiance had her K-1 visa interview in Moscow on April 2 and received the visa at her flat on April 7.

8 months of paperwork and 19 months after our first letter.

So she will arrive here in Chicago on April 22.

This has not been an easy journey but the rewards can be great.

My lady has been here in the Chicago Area since last September - Everything is going well. 

I am sure your lady will enjoy the nice spring and summer weather that is yet to come.  She should experience no problems coming through Immigration at O'Hare if that is her initial point of entry.   I wish you good luck.

Congratulations, Chicagoguy. I remember the days leading up to my wife's arrival (I flew out to Moscow so that we could arrive together), a combination of boundless enthusiasm tempered with a healthy dose of terror.

Quite honestly, I was dying to be with her but at the same time I was scared spitless. Here I was, uprooting this woman from everything familiar to her... it's a huge, huge responsibility.

These are very exciting times.  I hope you and your wonderfull lady enjoy them without too much stress.  The advice my MIL gave me before my wife's move was   "You will need patience and understanding", and she was right!

Have fun, enjoy, try to take in all of the great stuff...  and try to let your wife (to be) take control of the home as soon as possible.

She arrived safely on April 22 after on overnight train ride to Moscow and an overnight plane ride to Chicago.

Whew ! Much effort, time and $$. But she is worth it.
