Cost for professional photos

I would like to know from our Russian ladies what they think the cost would be for my woman to go to a photographer to get some nice professional photos taken? Any ideas? What was your memories if you did this?

I did this once in Ukraine (portraits with my lady) but I forgot the cost and anyways I don't think she told me.

I'm not a Russian lady, but I'll give you my thoughts.  It depends on a lot of things, just as it does in the USA.

Where is the photographer?  Prices in Russia/FSU vary depending on location.  Everything is more expensive in Moscow.

What photographer?  A well known fashion photog?  The equivalent of a Sears Photo Studio?  The guy who takes wedding photos on the side?

I imagine that the same rules apply in the FSU, just with a wider range of pricing.

RF, maybe just my own paranoia, but if a woman I was dating asked me about this I'd assume she would be using these photos in ways that were not beneficial to myself, so to speak 

If it's your idea, great - but I'd still be cautious. I've known guys who sent their GFs digital cameras and laptops only to find out when it's too late that these women were using the cameras and laptops to forge relationships with other men.

10 years ago basic professional photomodel portfolio was starting at around $400 in Kyiv. That's when i did one for myself. Don't know the prices for Moscow - usually things are more expensive there. If you just go to the photosalon and ask to make professional photos of you - probably the price would start at $20/photo-scene or so. There are many "freelance" photographers who claim to be professionals. Some of them are, most of them aren't. The range of what they charge is very wide.

Couple of times I've done it I charged USD $100 per hour per shooting plus 2 hours of post-production per every hour.

I will comment on Saint-Petersburg.  I believe that prices there tend to be lower than in Moscow, but higher than in many other regions of Russia.  It varies greatly on the photographer, studio, location, etc. but if you do go to a studio, it'll be US 100 per hour as the very least. Portfolio in an average studio starts around US 300.00.

For Ukraine and Kiev, you can contact my wife to have one quote=> http://www.annademulder.com/ , this is her work... usually price is around 120$ for a 2 hours session in studio. You get a dvd and no print.  If the lady come with a foreigner, cost will increase at least by a factor 2...You can also contact Victor Medinsky (http://www.medinsky.com) , he is really great and has worked for many fashion magazines in Ukraine (but it will be more expensive).
