Writing verses Visiting

More and more I have been reading a similar comment from FSU women and I wanted to see if anyone else has been hearing "reading" the same.

Here is a quote I recieved last night from someone in Belarus:
"Maybe you wil be surprised to read it but I will tell you that there are a lot of men in Internet who want only to write letters or just talk and they don't look for long relations.
So I think if a man is serious about his woman, he will come to her country to see how she lives. What do you think of it?"

I have to admit that I agree with her. Just wanted to kick it around awhile.

JollyRats, You can not overestimate how many men write letters and never get on a plane. I have heard this from many woman and agency owners. It is to the extent that many women,especially if they have been looking for a while, really do not wish to waist time writing many letters.

I think most view it as nothing until you meet.

Write 3-4 letters, make a few calls, and go visit a few RW.

Agreed. Seems to be ample numbers of wanking dorkfish in the fraternal order (present company excluded of course  ) In these waters the chum is abundant

  I really believe the internet is flooded with keyboard Romeos. The next time I go I might write to few within a couple weeks of departure and then just meet some local women. I know I get tired of writing and I think they feel the same.

Women like face to face meetings and phone conversations.  Agencies like letter writing.  If your a serious man, you get on a plane and go.  For the married guys - you still write letters to your lady or call her on the phone mainly?

Atta boy!  (c)      Although, if I put myself in your shoes I wouldn't be in a big hurry to meet a person I've exchanged couple of e-mails with.    Even if that person was living around the corner from me, not to say 'round the globe...

What a ridiculous question!  ...  but funnily enough  my wife and I still phone each other regularly and yes,  there is the odd emailing going back and forth.  The main different is that now our communication is emotional and prior to meeting it was practical.

Some people just shouldn't write before travel.  Rock up, do some speed dating with an agency... who knows what will happen.  I didn't do this because I HATE speed dating!

Some should write but I would urge them not to make it emotional... don't get carried away... and don't dream about travel.  I reckon if you're writing for 3 months before traveling that's ample time to find some ladies (or a special lady hopefully) that you want to meet.

Some have become emotionally attached to the women they write to before meeting and at times this doesn't work out.  It has worked out for some though and I'd dare to say this method probably has more successes and failures than any other method.  High risk but high reward maybe.

The key though is traveling.  It doesn't matter which method you decide on you must get your butt on a plane sooner o later, and undoubtedly the cause of most failures is as simple as that... the men that don't travel.

My wife said after listing on a few sites she was getting dozens of messages a day, so many so that after a few weeks she stopped responding... it was just too much to keep up with.  She says she only responded to my message because she was curious about the Ukrainian surname in the subject line.  the EM e-Book suggested something along these lines and that made a huge impact.

Anyway... each to their own...  I can fully understand women though who are cautious about spending week or months writing to someone who may nevr travel.  I'd suggest a man book his tickets and then start writing to show he's serious.

Congrats on the ticket purchase.  Its the right thing to do.  Do you know where you are staying?  I am pretty sure the apartment I stayed in will be available.  Its not luxurious or especially convenient, but, it is clean and safe with a grocery store right across the street and about $70 a night.  hard to do better in Moscow.

Yes, this would be the same person. Nothing wrong with doing a search that way, I've done it myself. Helps to ferret out the scammers. I don't see anything wrong with the first, or even the first couple of letters being form letters. After that you should be responding on a personal level. I take it you are some-what serious about her since you are "checking her out?"

No shame in that game. Proceed on the side of caution, Just don't let your paranoia cheat you out of a wonderful woman.

Thanks Sculpto, I have booked a 'relatively' inexpensive hotel already $90 something a night. I tend to not plan ahead too well so it seemed the best way to go. I made the mistake of making a departure date of May 1, DOH. Should have stayed for that particular day, oh well....

I dont blame the women for feeling so.
I mean, look how we feel after 2 weeks with a "woman" only to realize its a scam...and those are much shorter emotional investments.  wow, bless their hearts.

JR, what she explained to you about writing vs taking the next step to meet is 100% true.
As far as emails go..... Even though Sveta and I talk on our JOIP phones and Text each other daily, we still email one another a few times a day too. She feels that writing is romantic and that letters can be looked at over and over again while having a stressful day at work.
While my emails have been getting shorter and shorter, hers are getting longer and longer! It defies the norm, but I Love it!!
Good luck in Moscow and those of us who have been, are open for advice!
