I just met with 40 RW in San Diego Friday night at my Russian language meet up group, most of them are young and single and cost nothing to hang out with them. Fly to San Diego and meet them. Better yet come on Thursday nights where I go to dance classes and meet another group of 30 or so RW that love to dance. The ratio is 5 RW to one guy. Saturday we have a BBQ at one of the lakes here, there will be tons of sweet single RW sitting in the sun in their short shorts, and bikini tops. Next time you want to drop $350, make it worth your while and fly to San Diego. Don't fall in love with a photo, fall in love with the woman herself, face to face.

Definately a scam site like most of them.

So I'm curious. If there are so many gorgeous single RW in your area that you meet every week, why on earth did you start to look for someone half a world away?

Take up JR on his offer and meet with him in Moscow. You have plenty of time to pick up a visa and arrange tickets. He sounds like he knows what he's talking about and he knows the city so what do you have to lose?

Well, I can't answer for him but for me, I never went searching for anyone in the FSU and in fact, I deliberately avoided any contact with women from there. However, my fiancée came looking for me and she was difficult to ignore.

That picture is the window of a McDonald's just a short walk from the SAS Radison hotel in Nevesky Prospect, Saint Petersberg where I stayed on my first trip to Russia. I was amazed by all the American fast food places there.

I can easily explain why I ended up marrying someone from Russia. Simple demographics. Had a good job in a small industrial city. It is the type of city that well educated women tend to leave, unless they are already married. Tried online dating to find women from my country, but the women from larger cities that I liked did not want long distance relationships or God forbid to relocate. Was easier to find and date someone in Russia willing to move to be with me, than women from 600 or 800km away willing to date me and consider relocating within Canada if they already had a career (i.e. the type of woman that I wanted to marry).

In the past however many years of doing this, I've spoken with (including those not so fluent) probably around 200-250 different ladies. With every one of these I asked for her number in the second or third email.

Having read your stories, I realize that you have started multiple serious relationships, yet they did not progress as planned.  This happens.  I also know that you are particular, and rightfully so because it is your life and something very serious - namely marriage. 

You impress me as a decent, intelligent man with a great SOH.  Having seen your photos , you are in shape and ruggedly handsome (ok, suffice it to say you are not ugly  ).  There is nothing on the surface to prevent a woman from wanting you and only you.  Marriage is a very serious step and needs to be deliberated beyond doubt, yet 200-250!? 

I thought I was particular, when eventually I realized that I was wrestling with the huge decision of becoming married again to anyone.  Is this you?  I am not being critical, just thinking aloud.

Get started through an email, move to speaking/video, get on a plane and meet.. THEN think about attachment.. prior to meeting, she's at best a good dream, and at worst a monetary wil o' wisp leading your wallet out into the forest (or farm) -- never to be heard from again.

while im thinking about it...in our second letter I purposely mentioned that I was new,  worried about scammers and being overly causious.  She replied with "just be careful and follow your heart, you will be ok" , or somthing of that nature.  In most cases, a scammer would have just moved on right?

yeah really....  I have some friends in OB that Ive been meaning to visit.  A weekend trip sounds tempting.

hmmm.  There are alot of RW in Destin, FL where my beach house is, yet the majority of them come off really odd, even in just day to day convo...they are nothing like the personalities of the ones I just met in the D.R. at all.

by the way, if you want warm temps, great surf, and heards of RW...Dom. Republic is the place to be!  Cant wait to go back and its sooooo cheap.

Have to agree, Punta Cana is full of Russian Tourists. Found that they pretty much kept to themselves though.

yes, I assumed that would be the reason of the difference in personalities....

The ones I met in the Carbarette, DR were a mixture of tourist from the fsu as well as students temporarily living there via fsu- most were scientist to be, studying cave mines in the area.  Now, I will say I was with the right people though...I stayed at the "Quiksilver Surf House" and was usually with those guys through out the trip.  Snorkeled and surfed with a ton of RW ...it was cute watching em try to surf and of course I offered lessons at no charge. 


oh, anyone interested in staying at the house, let me know!  I did the whole trip under $1000 including flight!

Hey! you guys from the Great WHite North don't need to travel to FSU! Simply take a trip to Alberta!    Less than 100km (I think, if memory serves) southeast of Edmonton You will find Mini Ukraine. Entry here is much less expensive!  Heh!

Gator, thanks for the compliments, and for your thoughtful insight. You are very very close to what I am going through internally.  I HAVE been wrestling with this very thought. Big time. I certainly don't play games with these women or lead them on, but I really love being single and free and there's a very specific kind of woman who I would be willing to give up some freedom for the greater gain of having a partner like her.  I'd just rather be single than to be married to a lady who is not THIS woman.  My questions to myself though is -- does this lady really exist? Or will I be forever chasing my tail as well as a phantom vision? am I overlooking real happiness in the pursuit of some strange form of perfection?  I don't know.  Food for thought anyway.

Let me also clarify that I have not dated 200 Russian ladies. I have visited only 4 different ladies in 4 years.  I don't write a bunch of letters, but use the phone instead. Most of these 200 or so were one or two conversations and that was it - no spark of interest, or conversational 'chemistry' on an intellectual and/or humorous level.
