Momus Update

Hey all,

Just wanted to post a quick update for those who were around a couple years ago. Masha and I recently celebrated our second anniversary, and we couldn't be happier. She received her green card without a hitch -- in hindsight, the whole process went flawlessly, despite how *snip*ing long it took. She's working as a buyer for a company that imports books and periodicals from the FSU and Far East. She likes it, most days, though she's not thrilled about her limited vacation time (she got 24 days, plus sick time, plus the abundant Russian state holidays in Moscow...that ain't happening here!).

The relationship continues to be closer to perfect than I ever imagined possible. We're still very much in love, and just as important, we're extremely compatible. There are occasional arguments, but I honestly don't think we've been angry with each other for more than an hour at a stretch. We both realize how lucky we are, how happy we are, so it just doesn't seem worth it to hold a grudge. We'll be in Moscow in July if anyone's going to be in town.

Obviously, I've been completely out of touch with RWD. Life gets in the way, but I spent enough time here before Masha that I'm okay with that.

KenC and Scott, I can't tell you how shocked and saddened I was to read your bad news. It would be hard to swallow anyway, but I know I wouldn't be enjoying the life I have with Masha but for the lessons I learned from you and the rest of the OMBs. That said, you both had good marriages and the fact that they ended doesn't change that. I hope you'll both be back in the OMB club as soon as you're ready.

It's really great to hear some good news about an AM/RW marriage.

Lately we have had a string of bad news......so THANKS!

My Marina can sympathize with your wife. She only gets 2 weeks of vacation time a year from her job and she hates it, But.......She loves her job.

She goes home to Omsk for those 2 weeks every year to visit her family. By the time she gets to Omsk and "adjusts" to everything, it is time for her to come back and return to work.

I guess it's just life in the GoodOl' USA.

I am sincerely happy for the two of you!  Thank you for your kind words too.  Sometimes in affairs of the heart, you can do everything right and it will still turn out less than successful. (Not that I did everything right! )
