I did all the paperwork myself and should (I hope) have her greencard in 2 months but she wants to go home during the summer while her daughter is out of school (her daughter is here). She said it is not a problem but I worry. Anna has her SS# but her daughter don't (she "should" in 4 weeks). She wants to buy her plane tickets now since she heard the direct flight from Atlanta to Moscow is getting full on many days. What are my risk and give me any advice on what I should do... Thanks for all the help from the board over last couple years. BTW I could not be happier with Anna, I recommend to all my friends RW are the way to go.

She'll need to file for Advanced Parole. Without an AP document or a green card, there's no way she'll be readmitted to the US.

My wife and I filed for AP at the same time we adjusted her status. The AP doc arrived about two months before our interview date (about 3 months from when we sent it in).

There are provisions for emergency visits, I believe using Infopass, maybe someone else w/experience can shed some light on this.

Adjustment of status takes about 2 months unless you can go in person in Chicago and it is one day if you make an appointment.  Chicago is only place I think you can do this in USA.  You can get an emergency leave but there is not for taking a summer visit more for death in a family.

Hey Chade1968.

I will chime in on this topic.

**Newbies and Newlyweds** When you marry one of these beautiful ladies and bring them here to the GoodOl' USA, don't be cheap.

When you file your wife's initial documents, file for an ADVANCED PAROLE (AP).

Your wife cannot get back into the GoodOl' USA without one (or a green card). These are good for traveling on vacation (Marina used her's to go to Jamaica and Cancun) and for emergencies (sick or dying relatives).

SO GET ONE!

Now...Before anyone jumps on GoodOlBoy, for giving "bad advice". I am not telling you Chade1968 to do the following. I am just explaining what my neighbor did.

My neighbor's wife had to go home a few month's after she arrived in the GoodOl' USA. Her Mom fell on the ice, broke her hip and leg in several places. Had surgery. Got a very bad infection and was in the hospital.

My neighbors wife was hysterical. She had no AP and no GC.

The green card (GC) was supposedly on the way soon. She decided to go home and wait with her Mom for the husband to get the GC in the mail and then send it to her in Russia.

Unfortunately the GC didn't arrive for 3 more month's after her departure. He finally got it in the mail (sweating bullets) and had it couriered to her in Russia.

She made it back into the GoodOl' USA.

But if anything had happened, say a letter or phone call from USCIS and she would have not gotten back here for probably the next 10 YEARS.

So it is your call Chad1968.

Good Luck.

My wife's AOS took almost 6 months from filing to our interview, which I understand is pretty much par for the course. I've never heard that it can be done in two months - it's a process. After filing the AOS docs you first get your NOA, then a month or two later your biometrics appointment date. You get your interview appointment only after biometrics.

Hello Chade..
If you will..you could update your profile.
It seems that it says you are still engaged.

It would help to know when you guys interviewed for AOS.
Back in 2001..it took us four months for the card to come.

I believe that you are really saying that she thinks she will have no prob ordering the tickets now? This, in anticipation of receiving the Resident Card.
I would wait until you have the card in hand. Avoid the red tape in case of delays.

Best advice everyone is giving, wait for the card in hand, then make plans and book tix. Better yet, go with her.
