Eurovision Song Contest 2009 Live from Moscow
« on: May 16, 2009, 12:30:24 PM »
It's currently running live, started 30 minutes ago; I'm curious, are you guys getting this broadcast over there?

Apparently the Norwegian entry is the favourite to win. Not sure why, the girl he beat to get there was better IMO.

By "over there" I meant US and Canada obviously.  ;D

For those that have been living in a hole you'll find out more here; http://www.eurovision.tv/

Oh damn, the Swedish entry is freaking awful even if she is smokin hot.

I am watching it now. Loved Estonia!
Did not understand why Russian song was sung partly in Ukrainian.

Unkrain and Romania put hookers on stage. No other way to describe it.
There are shortcuts to happiness and dancing is one of them.

I do resent the fact that most people never question or think for themselves. I don't want to be normal. I just want to find some other people that are odd in the same ways that I am. OP.

It will be France. Why ? Because this is in Russia and Patricia Kaas is extremely popular in FSU.
So she will not be perhaps first in vote, but the sum of all will make her having the first position.

Personaly, I like the Czech candidate ...

I agree the Estonia entry was very good. I also think the Armenian, Azerbaijan, and Icelandic entries were very good.

Not sure what that Russian entry was but it certainly wasn't a winner. Too morose and not upbeat and poppy enough.

The singer, Anastasia Prikhodko, is a Ukrainian folk singer from Kiev.

okay, I just don't get why Norway is getting all those points. He was okay but there were at least 4 other entries that were better.

Hmmm, the Belarussian votes pouring in from out of the country maybe?

Russian entry was also wearing a curtain... :wallbash:

The show itself was incredible, it is going to be hard for Norway to beat the spectacle.

Performance of Dima Bilan (last years winner) was improved and except a small goof with his coat it was like a videoclip.

The award for best show goes to Ukraine, even if it did look like a striptease act, second place to Greece.
Special nomination to Moldova for their traditional music without addding 'pop' like Azerbeidjan, Armenia and Turkey.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Being self-effacing as Norway is, they won't even try is my guess.

The Eurovision is not taken particularly seriously by us Brits and the long time commentator of it, Terry Wogan, is probably the reason why; his dry wit when commentating the event is legendary. I just found out that he was replaced this year by another comedian, Graham Norton. A pity I didn't get to hear it as Graham is awesomely funny :D

Anyway, after growing up laughing at the whole thing I think it will be interesting to go see it live.

Was quite a show with an incredible (and expensive) stage that will be hard to beat.

Followed along for three days (didn't have much choice since wifey's a fan).

Pegged the first two winners and though Cyprus would make it as third.. Guess not sexy enough..

I watched the country voting with a bunch of Turks and Arabs in a Belgium bar.  They all liked Norway.  Even more so than Turkey.

I think the lack of good looking women singers this year allowed Norway with a little of an Abba theme and a semi gay acting male singer to win.  I only saw what the top 8 - 10 groups looked like as they flashed back to them during the country voting but sex appeal was not there for the women.  Ani Lorak would have won this year.

I don't see how this circus can be taken any other way.  Good for you Brits.
