Can you meet RW on sites like Match and Yahoo personals?

Never tried any RW on Yahoo or Match but have on Plenty of Fish and without exception they were scammers.

Both Match and Yahoo are paid sites for both genders, doubtful scammers are going to pay to get on sites. If they are using a three day trial period they'll give you their email addy in the first letter then their profile won't work. The profile will be brief and thrown together hastily. If you are using a site like this make sure you check to ensure the lady you are chatting with still has her profile active after a week or so.

Agreed. I met a very nice Ukrainian woman on Yahoo once who lived in the US. I contacted her and there was no indication of being from Ukraine until we spoke on the phone. I had literally dozens of FSUW contact me from various sites and all were scammers. Every one. I guess the scammers have found some backdoor way to get in and post a profile as yahoo personals and Match supposedly will not accept IP addys from Russia for membership. In most cases a week later the profile was gone or been deleted. I can only assume the scammers were pretty productive in finding some poor saps this way. There seemed to be a lot of Nigerians operating on these sites in much the same way.

before I was even interested in the FSU I had a profile on amigos.. a latin american dating site.. had that profile for a couple of years.. all of a sudden I started getting intros from stunning russian women.. funny thing is I was a lot more immune to the scams scenario then than I was after I went to Ukraine.  go figure...

Lily, that is what I meant. Many times they would have a US address listed in the profile but say in a message that they were in Russia or where ever. They were scam operations. I would guess there was a lot of "cherry picking" so to speak for scammers that could get on those sites.

Well, yes, I'm sure there are scammers on those sites as well, but as Lily said - Yahoo and such do not allow registering any members from Russia, so it should be pretty easy to weed them out, just like those Nigerian letters.

I haven't even been on those sites in a couple of years now but it used to be relatively easy to set up a profile with a proxy server address. One with just a modicum of computer savvy would know how. I noticed the profiles did not stay posted very long. I assume that was the sites security or part of the scammer MO. They were pretty easy to spot with a smokinghotkova 20 something from Russia, bright wide smile and some cleavage showing contacting a 40 year old man. Somethings are just too obvious ya'know?

Excluding IPs from certain countries will only keep the small time, uninformed scammers off those sites. The savy mainstream scammers working in groups will just use a proxy server as mentioned by FP and viola, they are from San Fran or Plano texas as far as Yahoo is concerned.

Very few honest Russian women are on American YP that are still in Russia. Why would they be? $30 bucks a month for them to communicate with AM? They have much better and cheaper ways. I did communicate with a couple that were in the US. Seemed to be fine women. Ironically enough I wasn't interested in a LD relationship LOL (go figure)

As I stated up thread. There are indeed some RW residing in America that are on the American personals. These are not the ladies I was referring to. I was referring to the ones who contact the men. I also stated that I had "dozens" that contacted me and every one was a scammer.  The RW living in the US that I ever saw, I contacted them. The number of those on the american personals are very few from my perspective. From my experience at that time I would guess less than 1%

That's because the represent a very small portion of the population. They do exist, but there's not that many compared to US born women on YP or Match.

Interestingly enough I was contacted via EM by a RW residing in America. I asked her why she was on EM instead of Yahoo or Match and she said, "Because I'm Russian." I wasn't going to argue with that

JR.. I actually take that as a not very good sign from a woman on EM.  There are plenty of free sites where she could have just as much if not more success.  Be careful with that one.

I dont doubt they are real.. just don't comprehend why they would go the route of an agency site once they are already here.. seems insincere or potentially manipulative.. but then again I might be biased.

I am biased and jaded by anything to do with making money on people meeting for love, regardless if it is a foreign women site or any American based dating sites that charge members.  For all our complaints about agency sites being corrupt or scammish frankly eharmony and match and the others are not much better if at all.  I went through hell to get a profile removed from eharmony and stop their spam and not one of their matches was really a match.  Its just very good marketing that preys on peoples loneliness.

I feel if a woman is already in the US and is using an agency site there is something not right with her intentions.  There are simply way too many other resources available.  But, then again, I am biased.

Social networks are the way to go IMO for any form of internet communication, with people you already know, or for meeting new people.

And, you know darn well I don't think getting here is the main motivation for a lot of women.  I mentioned earlier I had spoken today with a guy from AFA regarding the internet auctions.  he was telling me about a women that used to be on the site who was attractive but average and never got any attention on their site.  She eventually made millions on the Russian stock market.. no western man ever sent her a single letter.  I do not believe sincere ladies are even looking to leave the FSU.. they will do it for love.  Anyone who says they are specifically looking to leave should be handled as a GCG.  Sorry if that offends anyone.
