Hi,

I have recently decided to start looking abroad in my search for a mate.  I am divorced and live in a small town.  I am well educated and very successful (especially for my age, 27).  I have become frustrated with the lack prospects in this area.  There is a larger city about 1hr away, but I do not have a lot of free time and I'm not much of a bar guy.  Also, I am frustrated with the AM attitude.  My ex seemed to want to compete with me on everything... What I've found since the divorce hasn't been much better.  So I have decided to give this international thing a shot.  I will have to say that if UW/RW are truly more traditional / feminine that is appealing to me.

I have been lurking in here for a few weeks before I decided to join today.  Thanks to all for your advice.  Before I found this site, I joined Anastasia Date.  I know now that its not a very popular site around here, so I may bounce to EM or something after a bit.  Although, I have already met one lady on AD that seems to be legit.  She has given me her mailing address already, so we will be cutting AD out of the loop.

"Traditional" as it appears to me so many freshmen seem to define the word within the scope of their search and my BS rating on each of the breakdowns.

Traditional: (The list needs adding to but this will do you for starters)

RW will clean your house fanatically? = 50% BS

RW will stay home and take care of domestics? = 100% BS

RW are happy for you to make all the decisions? = 100% BS

RW enjoy sex and aren't afraid to show it? = 0% BS

RW are happy to stay home and take care of children? 50% BS

RW will dress well and make you proud of them in public? 20% BS

RW will esteem you as "their man"? = 20% BS

RW don't want to compete for status in the workplace? 100% BS

RW are happy for you to provide the only source of income? 90% BS

RW are happy for you to have total control over everything? 150% BS

The only justification (if you can call it that) I've seen for this traditional word is that it seems guys use this word for describing that RW enjoy a healthy physical relationship with their man, are not afraid to show it and differ from many of their western sisters in so far as they don't seem to make it a "candy" they hand out from time to time as or when they feel so inclined and thus use it as a control measure. In summary, if you find the right one, will she put out like a row of trash cans? Betcha sweet she will, but you better make sure you win her heart first. That's the real deal and it ain't no turkey shoot.

Enjoy the journey, it is an interesting and challenging one .

Nevertheless, since being involved for quite a while with RW and now married to one for a while, my pet hobby is exploding these BS, feel good, this is why you should do it, myths. More to the point is this ridiculous word "traditional". Nobody on any forum has yet defined what it is supposed to mean with any substance. It's a crock of crap peddled by agencies and websites.

You can just "see it" when guys start talking about "traditional women", they are conjuring up images..................crap, it is no more than an appeal to the redneck factor IMO.

card, just as in the US, you will find Russian and Ukrainian women are different.  I am sure in a country of 300 million, you could find a "traditional" wife, if you so wished.  Google the "quiverfull movement", for example.

In any event, I wish you luck in whatever path you choose.

Cardfan, if you want ti increase your odds of finding a serious parner, avoid big cities in Russia and the Ukraine.  If you want to increase your odds even more, try to find a woman in Moldova, Belarus, or Uzbekistan (just my opinion). 

I've also done some traveling to other countries and I found the women of Bulgaria just "drop dead gorgious"!!!  Although it's not a a country of the Former Soviet Union (FSU), many weebsites have women from these countries.

It is not negativity to point out the reality that you have yet to pass many mileposts of your relationship, grasshopper.  Little things like actually getting married, processing her immigration to America, living together, her adaptation to America and getting her green card.  Your input on relationships with RW is like premature ejaculation.  You have yet to enter into the main event.

Selling Sumburg desperates again? I guess they don't bother with the spelling, just the colour of the passport cover or the price of the ring as long as it's over 7K. Positively the worst post advising a freshman I've seen in a long while.

I am a relative newbie myself but have just had my first trip to the FSU which went well.

You may want to check out the RussianEuro.com site - it has worked for me thus far although there are no doubt a few scammers lurking in there.

I am from a well educated family, my parents are physicians, so are friends of my parents and my friends. Several my friends have daughters in their 20th. I can tell only about myself and my friends. My experience is:
RW are good cooks, I cook a lot for my husband and 6ft4” boys and I enjoy cooking
RW are healthy, they would rather die than be so fat like big percentage of AW
RW are very good mothers, they make lots of efforts to give good education to their children, to keep Russian language, to keep their children healthy
RW are very family oriented and put their family life ahead of a career. ( I always did)
-yes, they are dressed well; I still don't understand how woman could go to a bank in sport underwear (I saw yesterday). My friend and I were in nice clothes and with make up as usual.
-About take a control. I think it depends on personalities of the partners. Some men don't like to take control themselves and women just don't have a choice.

I agree, however, all we can do is post our own personal experiences and opinions we derive from those experiences.  The readers can form their own conclusions.  One size certainly does not fit all.  But sharing actual experiences is what it is all about here.  To me it is a far greater sin to put forth opinions where there has been no actual experience.

Some are skinny and still sick.  Bad ecology + stress + lack of affordable and quality medical care.   

RW are very good mothers, they make lots of efforts to give good education to their children, to keep Russian language, to keep their children healthy

And some make their kids defensive neurotics while pursuing this goal.  Define a good mother: one who drives the kids hard to get them educated at the cost of their emotional well-being, or one who doesn't give a damn about their career but provides great emotional support at all instances.  Jury is still out on that one.  In my opinion, too many Russian mothers are controlling, aggressive, overly critical, and emotionally deaf to their kids. 

RW are very family oriented and put their family life ahead of a career. ( I always did)

Good for you; but again, not all RW can be gracious and mindful about never reproaching their husband and kids for this great sacrifice.

Thanks for all replies.  Didn't mean to stir the pot with that "traditional" button.  I guess first and foremost I am looking for a woman with a good heart.  I have dated some AW tomboy types, and have to say I'm just not into it.  I need a women who acts feminine.. I'm a man and that's what I'm attracted to.  If that means they are a little "high maintenance", I guess that's OK.  Just as long as they are not overly materialistic.

Tamara, I'm actually located in Southern Illinois on the Indiana border.  I'm within 3 hrs drive of about 4 major US cities.  However, the town I live in is quite small.

And.. yes there are many rednecks around here.  Although, I myself am not one.
