She said Yes!
« on: June 09, 2009, 05:29:39 AM »
Just came back from my trip to Belarus. After waiting for me for me for almost 4 years, an on again-off again relationship ( due to many factors), on this third trip to see her I proposed and she accepted. I was introduced to her mother, her close friends, and her not so close friends. I visited her flat several times for some nice meals. We bought an engagement ring together in her home town of Gomel, and was surprised to see her fall in love in a ring which was all of $78. Except for a trip to a salon to get her nails done, we were together 24/7 and it was absolutely great. I took the K-1 paperwork with me, got it all signed as to not delay the process and will be filing it shortly. I am very happy and so is she. At some point I may take the time to write a full report. Suffice to say that many things I planned did not happen. Many things I never thought of did. But everything unfolded very naturally. I just went with the flow of events and it was wonderful. I plan to go back in maybe 4 months from now and after that, a few months later, if there are no problems, she will be here. Still feels like a dream.

Groov, she liked the beard, visually, but not the way it felt. ;) So it came off after a few days. Personally, I prefer a shaven face.

Personally, I'm a little surprised she can even grow a beard. She sure doesn't LOOK like she could, but I agree with you, I prefer a smooth faced woman too!  ;D

Joining in with the celebratory congratulations, Viking, glad everything went so well on this last visit and wishing you both much happiness and a speedy visa process.

Congrats Viking. The good thing about the time is that you have learnt enough about each other to face a future together.

Congratulations!

Splendid to see another senior find his future wife.

She wanted you all these years while life unfolded.  And your worries were indeed little worries.

May you paperwork progress quickly through the bureaucratic steps.

Congratulations Viking!

I remember Gomel - the first woman I met from FSU lived in Gomel.  I think I remember more my impression of the Minsk airport after all these years.  A big, ugly, cold, concrete monster that was a classic stereotypical vision of a Russian airport for us older folks.

This was a long time in the making, and much in between. I want to thank everyone for their warm wishes, especially Gator. He kept me level headed through some anxious moments.
