How do I contact this guy on craigslist?
« Reply #25 on: June 14, 2009, 10:09:20 PM »
Of course we have lists and requirements.  Men are just a lot more willing to compromise.

You could always take the 'brutally honest' approach, like this guy:

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/m4w/1218429555.html

Phil, thanks for posting it.

I'd probably contact this guy, because I like challenges, and something tells me that with this approach he just intends to weed out women with a wrong mentality. In his lists, I see a number of things that I welcome.

P.S. look, the more I read it, the more I am interested..I want to contact the man! Is his email right above highlighted blue?

P.P.S. I emailed him but my message returned..Anyone knows how do I contact him?

HAHAHA!  Its true.. they use camera angles to make him look taller.  Once, in 1991.. I was in the "Tornado" in Haight street and Tom was there.. funny thing was no one would talk to him.. he looked short, over dressed and lonely.

There's a hilarious bit in the movie Vanilla Sky, where Tom Cruise's character is arrested and briefly shown posing for a mugshot - behind him is a height scale painted on the wall, which shows him topping out at 6-ft. Really funny that they had to go to all the trouble of painting a false scale just to protect his ego.

It's not above the highlighted blue; it is the highlighted blue.

I never understood the height requirement--women hovering around 5 feet who insist on a man at least 6 feet tall.  I guess they like the way everything lines up at a certain height. Oh well, one of the great things about internet dating is that you can post what you are looking for.  I understand most of the list.  I have been surprised to see how many middle-aged American women say they are sports fans.

I always liked that too. Just console yourself with the thought that when her ship comes in, she'll be in a queue at the airport. Not worth wasting time over.

Lily,
Craigslist has been invaded by scammers and spammers.  Don't bother.  I know Craig.. I was in the movie "24 Hours on Craigslist".. getting his attention these days is almost impossible because he is working his way into politics.  CL as a site is losing its viability because of the scammers.  Even a post like the one shown is at least a 50/50 chance of being nothing more than an opportunity for spammers to gather email addresses and then try to "phish" for your passwords.

The ONLY thing CL is good for anymore is job hunting, (because posters have to pay to post)  The real estate, for sale and personals forums have been ruined.  There are "progs" for creating multiple postings automatically, for phishing email addys, and every other kind of scam one can think of.. all designed for screwing CL users.  The "flagging" process used to work, but, now there are more scammers than legit users.. its really a pity.. I remember when CL was ONLY in SF and just about everyone knew each other in real life.

For the people who feel the FSU women have higher expectations would I be able to hear some of these expectations?  Are they things like help clean the house, come with me to the store, don't eat doritos it is almost dinner time.  (Things I feel a husband should do anyway, besides the dorito thing... joke  :P
To help clean the house or go with you to the store are not the FSU expectations for sure  :D These are some small things YOU want the woman to do.

I think I did understand him- yet it is far from the FSU women's expectations.
Tanner is thinking of so little women will have to do, FSU women are thinking of so much WM have to do for them. He IS talking of HIS expectations. I got him- he cleans the house, makes the money and goes shopping. Now multiply it 5 times.

OK, instead of fighting I'll try to explain  (which is going to be far from the complete list))): a husband is expected to be intelligent (higher education min), with a high position at work, understanding ( here you'll need some explanations)))), loving her kids, her family (she left behind), athletic, cute, patient etc.
It is faaaaaaaaaaaar from being a complete list. They don't reveal it in their profiles but they will once they are wives (which is just a "Russian trick"))))))

Sorry if there were any misunderstandings about my question.  I just wanted a better understanding of these expectations.  Luckily Doll understood exactly what I meant.  I just used those examples (very poor examples I admit) because I am truly treading in foreign waters and would not know where to find an accurate example....  And no, that was not a list of things I think is a wife's duty.  I believe everything is and should be 50/50, but at the same time I feel the wife is the boss.  :D

Gotta get this off of my chest. Look at any singles website out there- from Yahoo Personals, EH, Match.com to Craigslist and your will invariably  find a bunch of AW's ( and these are the 35-45 year olds) who are actively  "shopping" for a man. And, like good little shoppers, they all have their "shopping lists" which include ( and my translation for some of them)

#1 Generous ( you pay for everything when we go out and if we do "hook up" you keep paying my bills)

And in the end you'll spend less on an "escort"

Quote
#2 Tall- I don't get it. Whats with this TALL  B.S.? I'm 5 foot 8, not exactly NBA height but not a candidate for dwarf tossing ether. And most of the tall requests are from gals UNDER 5 foot 3. Go figure. I guess Tall means sexy, rich, and  we short guys are bums!

I once contacted a "woman" who listed her height at just under 5' (I'm 5'9")  She said I seemed very nice but she liked "TALL" men.  I replied that at her height Lucky the Leprechaun is a tall man and if she played her cards right he might give a box of Lucky Charms.  Needless to say we never dated.

Quote
#3 Hard Working- In other words aren't in danger of getting fired, downsized or similarly scalloped from the ranks of the wage earners so they can still be "Generous" ( see #1)

Or busy working while she is out with the girls lining up booty calls.

Quote
#4 Interested in ( pick any three)- walking in the rain, long walks on the beach, hiking, bike riding, mountaineering, surfing (how the hell is all of this possible if you consider #7)  going to antique joints and looking at overpriced garbage, wandering around museums, going to fancy restaurants ( and don't forget your Amex Black Card, please) going to the gym,  cooking dinner for me ( the woman), travelling all over the world ( on whose dime, I may ask?) and a million other activities that guys who are....HARD WORKING will never,,, ever have the time for. BTW being a couch potato is equivalent to a serial killer...

This should be translated from "interested in" to "someone who will take me" and pay.

Quote
#5 Have a Harley Davidson- This is a sneaky one. So in one fell swoop the sneaky AW determines if you have enough scratch for the Hog ( and her, as well) AND if you're Alpha Male enough to ride the Harley on weekends ( after spending 50 hours working at your suit and tie gig! I guess wanting to ride in someones Beemer or Lexus is just  so..last century and all...

Both my nephews ride and neither are rich nor do they where suits.  They also drink regularly.  If you can only muster up the courage to ride on the weekends you're far from alpha-male material.

Quote
#6 In Good Shape- You had better have some abs, delts and pecs, buddy, and not be afraid to yank your shirt off in hot weather...but at the same time...( and this is important)

I am the proud owner of 12-pack abs!!  And don't forget you better not have gray hair.

Quote
#7 Accept me for Who I am- a 215 lb tub of jello  with three kids-( but a BBW) , sorta - kinda- semi employed- ( but they love their work) totally independent- like I don't need a man for anything ( except maybe to pay the freight)....But don't worry, I clean up well, but you had BETTER not expect sex for at LEAST three months, dude!

Three months, that soon!  If you would not have said 3 kids I would know exactly who you were talking about.

Quote
#8 And yes, losers, unemployed dudes, baby-mama drama guys, guys with small kids ( I really dont get THAT one) need apply

Or guys in their 60's, which is strange because if the guy has the bucks that disqualifier goes out the window.  Or the guys looking for a booty call because they don't engage in that sort of thing, at least until they've suckered some poor unlucky soul.  And they can tell you're a loser because only a loser would need a dating site.

Quote
BTW the younger ones are not so picky- they just want some their age that is "cool"to hang  out with and party.

Dont Lets all Answer at Once!!!!

The best part!  They still cannot figure out why nobody wants them.

If I remember correctly didn't Craig race motorcycles years ago.  It was several years ago but I think he and I exchanged bike notes.

I couldn't tell if Doll was being sarcastic or not.  If not, then boy oh boy...

a husband is expected to be intelligent (higher education min)

Does higher education equal intelligence??  The wisest man I know is a high school dropout.

with a high position at work

Why a high position at work?  :noidea:  Some of the poorest characters I have ever met were managers/supervisors.  Some of the richest characters I have ever met were blue-collar guys working at warehouses, lumber mills, and construction sites.

loving her kids, her family (she left behind)

And you think he has to have a Master's degree and be a CEO to do these things?   :ohbrother:

athletic, cute...

My friend "Butch" is a construction company foreman and a track-hoe operator.  He has a bushy beard, a hard, gravelly voice, a beer belly, tattoos on his forearms and a smokin' hot wife, yet he is neither athletic nor cute.  But, he is everything a woman really wants.

I nearly forgot - living life to the fullest and having no regrets

living life to the fullest - Taking 5 years of dad's money to get that Mrs Degree
Having no regrets - fantasizing that your now ex-husband does not know what he had.  He knows that's why he's your ex!

I read a "study" that claimed a weekly "hourly date" was much less expensive and stressful than being married in the long run.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having criteria that you adhere to when looking for a significant other and I would say that all normal people have these wish lists even if they aren't explicitly written in a profile; unless of course the person in question is absolutely desperate and will take literally anyone that will put up with them.

Some people are a little unrealistic without a doubt but that is their prerogative.

Does higher education equal intelligence??  The wisest man I know is a high school dropout.

No, higher education doesn't guarantee intelligence, but there's definitely a greater chance of them being intelligent than if the person never finished high school.
A lot, if not most of the school drop outs I know and know of are losers, criminals, drug users and/or people who will never be particularly successful and they aren't very intelligent. There are exceptions of course and these may be incredibly bright, or driven, or have other natural talents that allow them to succeed without an education.
But, if you are looking for a metric to help with a selection process based on intelligence, a higher education is as good a starting point as is it comes.

When generalizing, you have to understand that there are always exceptions but the general rules still apply to the majority whether you like it or not.

Everything? By your definition maybe but I'm sure there are many women that would disagree with you.

#1 Generous.

#2 Tall.

#3 Hard Working.

#6 In Good Shape.

#7 Accept me for Who I am

I do not agree about any problem with shopping lists. Everyone has one, and it is one of the good things about searching on the net.
I also have no idea if this is typical of AW list today.

But this woman is not looking for  a man, but a wimpy servant.  When you view the first criteria and then #7 it paints a picture of a me me me me personality. To paraphrase all her requirements You must be the perfect man who acts like a successful strong self confident man when not with me, but when you are with me you must become a woman and let me be in command, and try make me happy because I will not try make you happy and you must except this.

When I view the list with out the commentary I believe the person she is looking for does not exist.

Ducks, kittens, puppies and women are supposed to be cute, not men! Never! Ever!

A man is suppose to be big, strong and manly. Handsome, yes, but never "cute".
