Why are Americans looking for a wife in Russia, not in US? The employees of  ЗАГС (city halls) noticed that American grooms often had the physical problems: (nervous tic, missing fingers, drugging a foot) They also had psychological problems (insularity, nervousness). They were knock out of the competitive grooms market in their home country because of their defects. The absence of a wife is a big minus for their career and social status.

We go for several reasons:

1. Because we can

2. Because the selection of women available to us will be younger and more attractive then those here in the US.

3. Because of all that the FSUW don't have: pounds of extra fat

The article is dated back to 2000. My overall impression is that the author 1) is not competent in the matter, 2) demonstrates lack of his understanding of some basics of Western mentality, and 3) is negative towards the subject.

One thing seems however be interesting to me. He mentions that in Western society, being single for a man may negatively impact his career and social life. Perhaps a subject for a separate thread.

Before my unit, 3/1, deployed with the 11th MAU we were treated to the Soviet "intelligence" report being distributed regarding my particular unit.  The only thing I remember from the report was that we were drunken oversexed porn addicts.
