Thanks for the replies. I guess my main thrust here is questioning myself. I'm an American and I believe
that anyone who becomes an American should be just an American. I admit, I really dislike the adjectives
before American. If a person is an American, that's all I'm concerned with. Now, if I pick up on an accent,
then I may begin to ask where that person is from. That's just making conversation and being polite. America
is all about people from everywhere. There are a lot of people trying to "get in" to America.  Why people like
to identify themselves, being American, with another country before American, I don't know. I don't like it.

At the same time, I don't mind telling people my wife is Russian. She is and she will always be that way. Taking on the political correct way, she would be Russian-American. I can introduce her as being from Russia and at the same time being an American. I don't see a problem with that. But, I will never refer to her as being Russian-American.

To OOPPS,

I don't have to introduce my wife. But, there are times when my wife's shyness motivate me to introduce her.
I just say her name. But, sometimes where she is from works its way into the conversation.
