Conversion from Russian to US Sizes for dresses.
« on: June 24, 2009, 06:53:02 AM »
Getting ready to send my care package and I saw a really great Summer dress I would like to send. I know her size is 46. In the past I only sent her shirts and stuff like that because I knew she could wear a medium and that has worked out ok. The conversion chart I saw lists a Russian 46 as a US 8-10-12, do I chose the 8- 10 or the 12?

I'm tempted to go for a size 10, because it seems to be in the middle and I suppose if it's a little big she could take it in, yes?

She's a sporty girl, so her shoulders are a little wide, but she's not a big woman by any means; my shirts drown her.

i admit I'm confused.

Help.

My wife says 46 is an American S size. This would be a 4-6 size. She also said which I'm sure most are aware is sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. You might also be interested to know my wife is a fashionista and this is the size she wears.

This is my comment on the subject. Clothes are the most difficult thing a man can buy for an FSU lady. I tried once...and only once! I brought her 6 blouses and 3 pants to Russia...none were ever worn!

My Russian size is 42-44, in US my size usually is 2 or S. But I agree that sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, because some of my blouses and dresses are XS and even 4, and they fit perfectly.

Ask your lady to take some measurements - bust, underbust, hips, full butt - that should help with getting the right size.
