jest aside, considering they met in a quite normal fashion I would think their chances are better than that.. 

Going into a relationship with a minimum of 'agenda' or baggage on both sides is quite ok.  I don't think she was thinking "wow.. free massage service" when accepting his proposal.

Would be interesting to see a picture of them together..

No one really knows what is going on inside a relationship other than the two people in it.  Therefore, what may look like the oddest match in the world may actually be on very solid ground. 

I have a freind that went through a very bitter divorce after 25 years of marriage.  It was a very nasty affair that lasted two years as there was a business and lots of money involved.  He later married a very beautiful young mother of three who was dirt poor and 25 years younger.  Outsiders just knew she had to be in it for the money and he had to be in it for the sex.  Well, the money and sex must be great because they are still madly in love after 20 years of marriage!  Needless to say, I bent this friend's ear a time or two regarding my relationship with Lena.

Lena and I have long since stopped worrying about how others view our relationship.  People will think what they want regardless of the truth.  Sometimes we will mess with people:  Lena will tell them that she is in the marriage for the sex and then I chime in and say that I am in it for the money.  The truth is that even with the large age difference and the background differences, ours is the most normal relationship I have ever experienced.  What ever the hell "normal" is.

IMHO how the diverse couple 'optically' fits together says a lot but not everything.

Optics and how the couple will be perceived by the outside world do play a role in the selection process.. Looking back at my past relationships with women that had kids it seems that eyecolor was a factor involved.. The kids always had the same color eyes as I do.
