Anyone else watch "TransSiberian"?
« on: June 28, 2009, 07:39:30 AM »
Since I've spent a fair amount of time on Ukrainian trains and since I met my wife in the train station, we enjoyed the similarities. Not a bad movie. It wont win an Oscar but it's ok. Kate Mara is probably the best looking red haired girl in Hollywood.

I thought Ben Kingsley's character was too unrealistic, with his unnaturally high English proficiency for a provincial drugs detective. :)

BF,

And all of the rest of the film was realistic?

Wait until your kids get bigger and all you see are Disney movies. ;)

The film entertained both my wife and I; she likes "detective" stories.

Haven't seen the movie but I've been on Trans-Siberian once myself - had to go on business trip to Irkutsk, flew there but on the way back really bad fog hit Moscow, so Sheremet'evo was closed for 3 days.   It was 1988, of I'm not mistaken.   Two nights I slept on the floor of Irkutsk airport (no hotel was available) and then I gave up and exchanged my air tickets for train tickets.    5 days on that darn train.    Never again!    :D

I did see the movie several months ago and liked it. It was action packed and pure Hollywood even though the setting and locations were great to see on film. I thought the ending sucked and left the story line limp. I was expecting something a bit more believable.

I saw the dvd in the sale bin for $5.00 so I purchased it.  It was an ok movie, I chuckled when I saw the famous Russian attitude regarding customer service on the train.  Over all there was really nothing memorable in the movie.

It was not on the menu of the hundred or so flicks time warner ( i hate cable) offered us as pay for view, and I did not want to make a blockbuster run, so we did not see it.

We watched Benjamin Button instead.

Will try to catch TS later.  Will look for that $5 basket Bear found!  :)
