loversplanet - scam?
« on: July 02, 2009, 05:15:26 PM »
Maybe scam is not the right word but . . .

I registered on Sunday and as of today my profile has not been approved.  I've double checked and my email address was verified.  I am beginning to think scam but if you can't do anything how are they scamming anyone?  The only guesses I have are they've bailed on the site or they think they can con someone into thinking they need to upgrade their membership to have their profile approved.  I've sent 3 emails asking about my profile and I've gotten no replies.

At this point if anyone is considering joining it seems to be pointless.  Do not upgrade your membership if you do.

I've sent an email to the director asking if they are having any site problems. Will let you know what I learn when they reply.

I've been on the site for several months without any problems.  I'm not a paying member but you are able to send various pre-selected messages to the ladies as well as them sending messages to you.  At least you can get a good idea of the women you're interested in and they interested in you before becoming a paid member.  One thing you'll find different is that the women who contact you will be of reasonable age...unlike Anastasia and AofB who have swamped me with girls from late teens to late 20's.  But you'll also find the various outdated profiles and photos and some pro-daters.  I think you'll find more sincere women and fewer pro-daters than most sites.  They seem to make an attempt to keep the scamming to a minimum.  I have friends who have used Loversplanet before and seemed pleased.  Good Luck

Thanks but it has been several days and 3 emails and I'm still waiting for my profile to be approved.  Until then. . .

Profile now approved.  Apparently there was a problem with the approval process and it has been fixed.  I signed up because they have a very nice search.  I really like the ability to sort women based on their desire to have or not have children.  That seems to be a search feature lacking on every other site and one that is needed.

JDK.. I have mentioned this before.. but my friend you really should relax on the scam fears.. 99% of the ladies are NOT out to scam you.  And, I do not think Dan would accept ad revenue from a site that is a known scam site.

Actually, we will accept advertising from any agency that is willing to agree to our Advertising Terms of Service. There are many reasons for this policy, and you can find earlier topics in which this was debated at length at these links:

Dan.. thanks for posting the links.  I think the really bad agencies/sites wouldn't dare to advertise here because it would be suicide for them.  We are self regulating in that respect, kind of how Craigslist used to be.

Well done sir.  :)

I was not worried about the women.  I had registered and it had been several days and my profile was not approved.  I sent 3 emails to customer service and had not received any replies.  My scam fears were not unfounded and they were resolved, most likely because of this forum.

Something that is unusual to me does not necessarily mean I think there is a scam.  Only that it is unusual to me.  Women do not have to be scammers to be trouble.

jdk.. you seem like a nice guy and sincere in your search.. but without being negative in the following comment.. it does seem a bit like you have a chip on your shoulder.. you might consider brushing it off before getting too involved with a woman.

Huh?  I questioned the legitimacy of a dating site.  Thanks to Dan and CCowboy the problem is resolved.  Everybody's happy.
