I recognize the mountain behind you.  It is on the Tennessee side of the road to Newfound Gap.  Called the Chimneys.  Many, many years ago I lived in Gatlinburg for 9 months.  Back then, one could fish in the park.   Caught a few rainbow trout near this spot.  Hiked all over the park including the trail to Mt. LeConte from Rainbow Falls at Gatlinburg.  Encountered a couple of bears but no problem.

Where in the park did you get married?  Cades Cove?  Was the mountain laurel still blooming at the upper elevations?

Gator - The White Trillium and another interesting cone shaped flower were in bloom. No, we weren't in Cades Cove for the wedding.

For Others:

Gatlinburg is set up for weddings. Maybe 20 small chapels all set in the forests or next to small creeks. Tenn. is set up for this with license and wedding possible in the same day. All for under $250 if on a budget. They are well done and professional.

Then besides all the usual motels, hotels and resorts there are hundreds of cabins for rent tucked away in the forests and hills. It is the most visited Nationl Park in the country with 9 million visitors a year. But crowded from June 15 - August 15 and again in Oct.

But while the Park is supposed to be the main draw there seems like 1000 "tourist traps" on the 25 mile drive South of I-40 leading up to the entrance.

My wife and I were married in Pigeon Forge on April 30, 2009 at one of the wedding chapels!
She enjoyed everything there. We also went through the Smoky Mountain Park and seen all the sights. We were both surprised at all the Ukranian and Russian women  in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
We're looking forward to return in the future.
