Hotel Near Kiev Embassy? Need Recommendation...

My fiancee's interview at the Kiev Embassy is coming up
very soon.  She intends to take the train to Kiev the day
before.

Does anyone know of a safe hotel near the US Embassy
in Kiev that they could recommend?

Neither I nor my fiancee is well-acquainted with Kiev.

I am not sure where the Embassy is but some affordable and safe hotels would be the Rus.  I have stayed there 3 or 4 times and I don't think there is much to worry about.   The rates I was quoted an hour ago were $ 123.00 a night.  I have stayed in the Krashatik,  It is near the center of town and is safe enough and a bit more expensive.   I am giving strong consideration to going to Kiev in two weeks.  I will try the Ukraina for the first time.  It is about $ 90.00 a night.  I have been in the hotel and it seemed safe enough.  It is right off Independence square which is right smack dab in the center.   I put a gal up at the Dneipro and it was extreamly safe.  Last year I got a room for about $ 85.00.  I just did a search an hour ago and it was coming up $ 350.00 a night which is pricey for me.   I did a little research for the locaton of the embassy but it was not in my guidebook and not on visajourney which surprised me.  I tried www.hotelsukraine.com for my rate search.  I have used them before with great results.

The U.S. Embassy's consular section  is on Mykoly Pymonenka, right  off Artema. There aren't any hotels in the immediate vicinity as far as  I know, but most good hotels in Kiev are just a few minutes' taxi ride  away.

Renting an apartment is a better option than a hotel.  Plus there are some in the vicinity of the Embassy.  Apartments are typically half the cost of a hotel with better preace and quiet and privacy.

I would suggest calling Nickolay at Save Travel, 380 44 502 2163 to inquire into current prices and locations.

From the Maidan (central square) it is about a 10 to 15 minute bus ride (#16? can't remember clearly) up the hill and down Artema.  Then a short walk from the bus stop.  It is back off the main street behind some buildings to the North East.  Not difficult.
