Is it disparagement, or just one's preference for Big City woman vs. small town girl?  In general, there are some differences between the two, just as there are in America, yet the essence of each is remarkably similar.

In any event, Big City RW are sometimes laughable with regard to the difference between what they think they know and what they actually do know.

No, it is the women themselves who practice that disparagement and has little or nothing to do with Western men's preferences in the matter.

While it is true that there are "villagers" who are extremely backward in many respects--just as there are in other parts of the world--it is also true that there are many in the smaller communities who can be surprisingly well educated and sophisticated in many ways. However, the stereotype within the FSU seems to continue from the time of the Tsars, when village people were rarely educated and when mobility from the farm or village was not an option. This persisted into the Soviet era in the sense that mobility was often not an option, although the education of the typical villager was substantially improved.

Those from Moscow and St. Pete seem often to regard even those from relatively sizable cities elsewhere as being the equivalent of "villagers"--very similar in the attitudes of people in New York and Los Angeles toward the rest of the U.S., often deemed "flyover country." However, the extent of this attitude seems even more pronounced in Russia. It is also somewhat evident in Kyiv regarding much of the rest of Ukraine.

5 weeks to go and the reality is starting to set in...........  :o.

Looks like i will be staying in P'Burg the whole time now i haven't heard from girl"2" now for a while and my questions about meeting her  are not being answered for whatever reason, i dont know whats going on there.

This is a blow because i like girl "2" and though we would get along well but i'll see what happens.

A few nerves have crept in aswell about the whole experience im still excited though!

Ah, relax there Ash... no matter how you slice and dice it, this is all just meeting a girl. An expensive and logistically abnormal/challenging first date. Don't get your hopes nor fears in an uproar and just go meet her(s)... and no matter how pretty she is, she eats/sleeps/(censored) just like any other woman and as KenC said it, there's someone somewhere who's tired of her sh**...  if all goes well, you'll be in a euphoric dreamworld of projective fantasy, and won't really learn anything *useful* until the second visit anyway..   It's easy to fall in lust/limerence/loinitudinal love with a fantasy, but the more time you spend together the more the real girl shows up and the mettle is tested... so, relax and have a blast on your first trip.  You still have 5 weeks before you go.. that's plenty of time to get in touch with others if you want. The whole experience will be fun. Devise that back up plan in the case that the first ten minutes face to face kills all the prior communication and leaves you with unfilled days to prowl and explore.

oh yeah, and practice your Dracula impersonation...  ;D  neck biting and/or black satin cape optional of course, but the former at least is generally a good sign.

A back up plan doesn't need be some big elaborate thing. I would suggest finding a few more ladies in Piter and communicating with them before you go. You can contact them or not after you arrive. Locate an agency and keep their contact info just in case you need it. Those two items are just in case you find yourself stuck in a funk.

I've spent some time in Piter and found that just walking down Nevsky, in the shops, restaurants and clubs the ladies are very approachable. Even if there is a complete language meltdown few will be offended that you attempted conversation. There were a couple of times where I was sought out. Unlikely for my charm or dashing good looks because I don't have any but, I've always had a good degree of game and rapport. My advice here is don't hesitate to hit the street and wing it. That may not sound like much of a back up plan but trust me, there is no substitute for meeting women "the old fashion way"

Realy? Thats great they are interested in a conversation?

It would be a bit nerve racking just winging it wouldn't it?

Really. They are interested in meeting with no preconceived notions about marriage, passports or the bigger, better deal. You know there was a time back before the internet when winging it was pretty much the only way to meet the ladies? Winging it is an old tried and true method. IMO, the internet speeds up, masks and disguises the root of "Boy meets girl" and that is in essence what you are doing through agencies and internet introduction sites.  ;D

I realize many guys in this pursuit are appalled at that particular idea and hitting the street and relying on your wit and charm and it doesn't appeal to many. The least you can do is make a few friends and if your lucky you might find the quality woman of your dreams the "old fashioned way". I did go out and wing it a number of times and I have to tell you, I had the time of my life.

nahhh, just don the cape after all and begin your conversations by raising your eyebrows ans saying "goooood eeeeevening, velllllcome to myyyyy vooorrrld!"  That oughtta take any racking of the nerves right on outta there..

FP is correct of course, and also think about JR's trip report from St Pete.  Meeting ladies in the FSU, and I don't care WHERE you go, as long as you are not a totally shy, introverted hermit you'll do just fine winging it (funny, that, after all the Dracula references).  They are *always* very approachable and pretty much expect to be approached... you'll see.

Ok the flat is sorted out 700 roubles a night which is fantastic.

Im realy looking forward to meeting Girl 1 now we have had several nice chats on skype and each time we have spoken i feel we are getting along better she's smiling more often ect..........i believe her to be genuine and not a scammer/time waster ect and looking forward to meeting her in person.

On another topic i think i will ditch Elenasmodels for now ivé come across a few time wasters ect maybe a local agency is better?

Every venue has time wasters, scammers, GCGs, etc. You have to wade through them... Hard to find someone who will say something bad about EM so you might want to stick with it if you've already invest money with them.

Definitely YES !

I have been there in 1997 first time, and lived there for a few years, until 2005. Only bad spot: The weather :-)

We may never know - AsH hasn't visited RWD for nearly a month, and did say in another thread that he didn't feel there was any point continuing here.
