Interviews and civics exam today, 1 PM.

They're a bundle of nerves - but will both pass I am sure.

Congratulations Vaughn, that is great news.   The test might be easy as pie but I will be there are a lot of Americans that couldn't pass it.  That is great news.  Another year and a half or so and that will be our project.

I believe 60% is passing.
I'm curious about the questions they did ask the interviewees.

Thanks, Faux & Turbo. They are thrilled, as am I.

I believe 60% is passing.
I'm curious about the questions they did ask the interviewees.

Right, they have to answer 6 out of 10 questions correctly...  since neither missed any, they
only had to field six each ....  some of which were:

Name the ocean that borders the West Coast   (no kidding, some are this simple...)
What do the thirteen stripes on the flag represent?
How many US Senators are there - and of what length is their term?
Name one author of the Federalist Papers.
Who served as Vice President under Martin Van Buren?
By what name are the first ten Amendments to our Constitution known?

You get a booklet with the whole test at fingerprint time.

Sample questions are available at several sites, including this one ~

http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/citizenship-test.html

BTW - I was only kidding about the Martin Van Buren question. How many here know the answer without
looking it up? I certainly don't.

The Uscis.gov free site...

http://usgovinfo.about.com/library/blinstst_new.htm

Too cool!  Thank you.  I've been looking (well, not very hard) for this in an easy to work with format for some time.

I've reformatted it into a Microsoft Word document to post here.  The page hasn't been updated in awhile (still has Bush/Cheney in office for answers), so I made some corrections.  It comes to 16 pages -- legible when printed out, and plenty of room for notes.  The Word document also retains the hyperlinks, to lead to further information.

No more forms, fees, fingerprints and trips to USCIS's offices.

Today my wife and daughter raised their right hands and took the oath along with
120 others from 41 nations. I must say I was hard pressed to recall a more patriotic
group of people than this one. They were cheering. And I was reminded how the
USA, while the target of much criticism here and abroad - is still, IMHO, the greatest
country on Earth.
