The original poster is using the most common generalization and applying them by race.  Generalizations are true.  But they are only generalizations.

Frankly, as long as a man is "not ugly," and "normal" psychologically ... and everything else that AJ implied; the choices for a mate are very positive.  I don't feel most of us deserve the choices we enjoy.

There are very beautiful women everywhere.  The trick is to find a woman how beautiful on the inside.  Takes time and work.  Enjoy the interview process!

 :offtopic:
riv , where the heck are you now anyway?    :D
LOL Iceland? (lots of pretty girls there)

JR-
we mostly agree for sure,,
but as i and others mentioned it CAN be  a numbers game.
i dont live in chicago, I live near there.
if i lived closer, or worked downtown, my dating opportunities would go up immensely.
They arn't bad now, i'm not crying over my fate ;) ,  i'm just pointing out facts.
and location IS a factor.

Also i'm not from springfield ,it was an example.. because compare it to NYC?
it is a numbers game, if i lived in springfield the FSU alternative, looks better than if i lived in NYC.
again just an example?
but you can't say location doesnt influence this

my local area, is honestly very limited.. i'm not going to be PC here,
the single ones in my age range, are mostly overweight divorcee's,with a chip on their shoulder,
who are generally pretty stuck on themselves ,and with not a lot in personality to offer.
not all of course! but that's a pretty accurate cross profile.
You're welcome to come sample the local scene anytime you like.that  peopleofwalmart.com isnt that far off the mark
(and you wont find-   peopleoftheFSUbazaare.com)
I'm certainly NOT tooting my own horn,,but i'm probably one  of the more eligible  bachelors at the moment,
(simple because ,its a small population base, i'm half way in shape, and have had an interesting enough life to not be boring)  now if i go into chicago itself, certainly that dynamic changes!!!
i'm no longer that unusual, (because of course there are a lot more financially viable, in shape, interesting decent men my age)   but also there are more "nice" availible single women!! win! right?
so a trade off. Its all good!
but it's simply  not "easy " for me to routinely be *out* in that area to meet them.
it isnt that far, but still time constraints, family responciabilities, and logistics limits that social interaction time.
As you stated, lifestyles have changed,
it's why dating sites are popular.. !!

I do think this scenerio drives a lot of men to expand thier search to other cities and countries even?
it's what drove mine before.
I don't think its always about finding someone younger than you could at home.
Most guys i do know in my "general area" that are married to FSU women,
are married to women in the same age group they dated before going to the FSU.

so some will ask *why* did they go?
well they are for the most part happily married now, and wernt before.
that seems a very good reason to me, since they are family based men , and that is what they were looking for?
but everyone has thier own reasons.

We are going to have to disagree on location. I live in Santa Paula, CA. population of about 23,000. I have no problems getting dates with decent women. There are indeed more "eligible" women in a larger city...but there is also going to be more "elegible" men competing for them. The percentage usually works out to be fairly similar. Of course there are exceptions such as suburbs designed for families, etc. but by and large the ratios run pretty close.

I just don't see the problems other people complain about. Of course one usually finds what one looks for...

JR-
if you really think i can't fairly easily point out two 23,000 population cities
with vastly different availible single women that you'd be particularly interested in,
then yeah we will have to agree to disagree ;)

I do understand your point, i think there are plenty of availible AW,,
but guys prefer to chase a more exoctic dream in the FSU..

but to totally dismiss that location plays a role?

I've lived an awful lot of places.
The area i used to live in SoCal,(or DFW) certainly had more women i would be interested in ,than springfield,
Your point is there ARE women in springfield ,or peoria, etc?
duh,  and i'm not debating that?
My point is there are far more i'd personally be interested (and likely you as well)  in san marcos.or oceanside.
This is not about looks ? it is about mentality and life outllooks, they do vary by loacation? and culture.
I would say the percentages are not crazy different, but they are different enough to make a difference in what boils
down to a numbers game anyway.

if you want to get crazy, lets relocate you near me, in Gary ind.
and JR date away! LOTS of young single moms there.in a much ,more populated area than you live,
you'd have 4 times the number of availible women,.. or would you?
because the attitudes on life and outllooks on family might be a bit different than yours.

I am in FL, USA throughout the holidays.

At the first of the year, I am going to accept an invitation to stay at a friend's finca (plantation) in Manizales, Colombia.  The Spanish culture feels comfortable to me, and I am beginning hoblo pocito Espaniol. Remember the original posters comment on fat butt Latinas. Check this video out-   No problema there!

In my local dating environment (Tampa Bay), I side with AJ. Not so good. Put simply, I would rather not here.  NYC; Miami it is different.  Like real estate: there is not one market but 1,000's.

Never thought of Iceland?:)  BUT, I am really going to get my act together and go visit the Ukraine and Russia in Spring to see what all the fuss is about.

I never said you couldn't and I'm sure we both could. My subtle point is that men tend to create problems with the home-field dating scene to help justify their looking in the FSU for a date or to marry. But I still say it is more a matter of yourself and scocio-economics than the dirt which happens to be under your feet.

I do understand your point, i think there are plenty of availible AW,,

Well said :)

Yes, I totally dismiss location playing a role. Location is dirt. I date people not dirt

if you want to get crazy, lets relocate you near me, in Gary ind.

Yes, they might be different and some might be the same...but Gary Ind. would never be the same....

And I think it would be better if you moved to L.A. :)

Jolly-
LA, ? sorry blech!! LOL   (plenty of single women yes, i just don't like the area)
but i agree San diego area !! North county is my old stomping grounds :)
and the dirt there has more availible women (at least ones i'd be interested in,and interested in me)
walking on it..  than the dirt here in this part of Indianeeeeeeeer has ;)
That's not justification, its a coment obn pecents of population that would be a good match.
since i'm not looking there,or here at the moment,  it's actually experience of living both places.
and i'm not using it as some excuse to go to the FSU!

Back in the dinousaur period when i went there, you're welcome to read my trip report,if it hasnt been lost in the boardsshuffle ober the years..  i made no dang excuses whatsoevah!
(i was living *off and on* and dating in Prague,   Ukraine was next door!  i went to germany too to date, why not?
it really wasn't about anything other than where some woman that caught my attention in random meeting or by email lived! I'm still partial to czech and lithuanian women if you want to know the truth.. perhaps an imaginary slight mentality difference on average that i like, but can't put a finger on what it is..)

but yes i agree that many guys do use ,the no availble local women
,  as a *crutch* of a reason to  go to the FSU.
why beat them up for that? its human nature..

The biggest compliant of local single women anywhere in the world?
there are no, or too few, good men!
right?

JR.. if you have so little problem dating locally why are you going through so much effort to date in the FSU?  Doesn't make sense to me.. sounds like BS even.. I am just sayin..

In my situation.. SF has tons of good looking and available women.  Unfortunately gold diggers and women with egos that are way out of proportion with their beauty or intelligence make most of them rather undesirable to me.

LOL, you are entering the unknown zone and should stick with what you know. I don't have problems getting a date, anywhere in the world. The reason to go to the FSU is age, period.

and if age is your motive why limit yourself to the FSU.  You can get a younger and more compliant girl in SE Asia.  Its ok Joe, you don't have to answer.. its self evident.

If it is self-evident please tell 'me' why because I'd like to know...
