Google translate did a decent job with what you wrote: "Really, if you begin to speak Russian, so I will speak Norwegian so you can see how much you understand!" However, the French translation sounds better to me: "Vraiment, si vous commencez à parler russe, je vais donc parler le norvégien pour que vous puissiez voir à quel point vous comprenez!"

Yes, Google translate was still capable of dealing with your sample of new Norwegian

Still good enough to get the gist of things  :) I find that Google translate does not provide a perfect translation, but it can give you a pretty good idea as to what is being said.

Keep in mind the GIGO rule of thumb applies: garbage in, garbage out. Google translate is only useful if what you are seeking to translate is somewhat grammatical and free of spelling mistakes

Misha,
Ny norsk is the second official Norwegian language, it is not garbage. Google translate only handles bokmål, the other official language. This is why it cannot do a good job with ny norsk.
FWIW.

Actually, you are incorrect. Google translate does translate nynorsk. I found some examples of nynorsk online and it did a decent job of translating it. Again, whether it is bokmål or nynorsk, Google translate or similar software will do a better job when it is written following usual standards. It won't do a good job with short phrases that have unconventional slang, misspelled words or irregular grammar.

Yeah, I forgot about Google translation, heheh. It actually did a god job there, yes.

French always sounds nicer, in any language. The word "puissiez" you mentioned here, sounds exciting

This is a case in point of GIGO. Given that you inserted a word that clearly does not exist in Spanish (pu~eteria) this makes translation with a computer close to impossible. However, the gist is easy enough to guess even with an impartial translation.
