So.. here I go.. off to the airport.. good thing I checked email before I left.. the lady from the flat had some last minute adjustments to the plans.

I/O.. thanks for the advice.. but being humble takes many different forms.. on a day where I will experience the literal magic of jet powered flight.. there is no leading with the chin.. there is only thanks and gratitude that I am so lucky to even be able to have the incredible good fortune to experience the world this way.  No matter what happens in the next two weeks.. I am the luckiest man in the world.

So a quick update..

Its way too hot and humid here.  First apartment was miserable with heat and mosquitos so I moved today to much better place.. thus free time for the internet.. I did manage to get $100 back on the apartment for the lack of fan and hot water but then the apartment agent tried to pass me a "funny $50"  She had this shocked look on her face when I told her it was a fake and to pay me in Ruble or I will call the police.    She complied immediately.  New apartment is fantastic though.. should have stayed in this one from the start.

Girl #1 came as planned and was wonderful.  She was a bit less Cinderella than I expected and a bit more "Elizabeth, Czarina of Russia" but she was beatuiful, intelligent, extremely wll mannered and 100% old fashioned good girl and we had a fasntastic time even though all I got were a lot of kisses on the cheek.. "Its normal for a good Russian girl and I simply do not know you enough to do that yet"

We did a lot of different things.. but the highlight was the shopping trip.  Amazingly good taste.. a savvy shopper indeed and then when it was time for the piper to come calling.. she opened up her own wallet and paid in cash.  I did end up buying her a cute hat for fifty bucks after I saw her drop about $500 of her own (maybe Dad's money) and she was doubting the hat.. but it was so cute and I had been getting the modelling show all day so.. it was the least I could do. 

I will see her again, in a few months, maybe in Cuba.

Backup girl 1a was suppsed to meet with me last night but there was some sort of concert and fireworks thing on the river and so she sent me a message saying she had to go to see her sick aunt in hospital..  In theory she will call tonight but I suspect she might not since she knows she was busted for the lie.

Backup girl 2a is on her way to StP from Kiev.  I broke down and sent her 80 bucks for the train.  She had been complaining for months that her life was boring.. so.. I am gonna liven it up for her for a few days.  This girl is not really a serious relatioship candidate but I suspect more of a FWB.. but we will see.  She is funny, a great writer and very into me in a carnal way.  She is the polar opposite of girl #1.  Kind of a punk rocker biker type with a masters degree in literature. 

Tomorrow I have a date with a recent addition to the "circle".  She doesn't speak a word of English and we are not having a terp.  So, its gonna be my 367 words of Russian and the dictionary.  I am actually really looking forward to it.  She seems lovely.

There is one other pre-planned backup girl but I am going to wait until Miss Kiev heads back to make contact.

This city is fantastic.  Nevsky is full of beautiful people and just a few blocks away in Sennaya every form of human scum scrapes the botom of the barrel to eak out some sort of survival.  I am finding myself drawn to Sennaya and its meandering bazaar and hordes of "ugly" people.  Not surprisingly there are some real hot girl in this neck of the jungle and tey don't have that swagger of the perfect beautiful high end models on Nevsky.  And then of course there is the pierced/tatoo/dredlock crowd which I will check out tonight.

I have reached a conclusion about high heeled mini skirted girls on this trip and its just too hot to get into it right now.. but stay tuned for a new thread on the topic

You have to admit, the concert was cool!  I think we all got caught up in it (yes, we were there too)

Interesting updates..

backup girl #1 who flaked the other night appeared last night and really did have a sick aunt and was compleely unaware of the concert situation.  She was awesome!  I have had a friendly art oriented correspondence with her for over 4 years.  She was always pretty much of a party girl so I never considered her for more than anything but friendship, but, apparently she hit the 25 mark last march and her priorities are suddenly chaged since she is now "old" (her words).  Anyway, she is taking me to see the victory memorial on thursday, visit some artists she knows in that area and partake in some medicinal herbal heat therapy.    This girl is really out of my league based on appearance, but, she is really amazingly intellectual, has been in London last year and spent this last summer in Crete and does the travel on her own.  Anyway, she was fluffing her hair and facing right at me the whole night.. tons of eye contact and lingering hug when she took off.. then she sent an sms within 15 minutes of taking off saying how it was great to finally meet me in real etc...

So.. in about 1 hour I am meeting with a lady I met in the art supply store yestrday.  Yup.. I picked up the sales girl.  I also picked up a carton of 72 colors of dry pastels for about 1/4" the cost of german, italian or american brands.  The sable brushes were  abrgain too but the quality was just soso.  Anyway, I don't know ANYTHING about this lady except that she is beautiful, I guess about 30, fluent in english and japanese.  I think it will be a good night.. but god I wish I could find a place with an actual fuctional air conditioner.

Miss Kiev will arrive the morning of the 30th on the night train from Kiev.  She knows I might skip out on her a bit and is ok with it.  This is really gonna be an awesome weekend. 

btw.. there is only one thing in greater abundence than MOSQUITOS, and that is gorgeous girls minimally dressed.  WHERE ARE THE MEN????

two dates with art store girl.. she is pretty cool and I will see her again tomorrow.  She is starting to get all serious on me though.. its kind of strange.  I get the feeling she agreed to go out with me for novelty but she is starting to like me a lot.  I need to be really careful with her because she is not clued in about the other ladies and I don't want to be an ass.  I will see how it goes tomorrow and if it goes to another level I will have to "level" with her before.

Got a date with a very cute girl who was selling some crazy plastic toys in a street booth.  I say crazy toys because they are local handmade gravity things.. hard to explain but I got one that looks like a soviet soldier and sort of wobble walks down hill.  Girl is very funny and sweet though so will see what happens with that.  Will meet with her late tomorrow.

The "no english" girl from the dating site called but I think she chickened out because of language.  Not a big deal since I have the other stuff going.

There is one other street booth girl I am kind of hot on but she played hard to get so I brought her an ice cream today.  She was shocked and got really emotional about that.  I will repeat tomorrow and see if she will agree to go out now.

There is ladies night at a club I have been advised by several locals to attend.  Tomorrow night is going to be wild no matter what.

Weather sucks, too hot and humid.  I have taken almost 400 photos already.  This city is amazing.  Found the head shops today also.. tons of stoners here too quite obviously based on the quality of the headshops and the numbers of freaky looking people.

And I can vouch for it too... across Nevsky from me is the "Lesbian" park (as explained to me by a resident) and just tonight I was in a park on the next street over (Italianski?) and it was 90% gay male couples being openly affectionate.  I think Sculpto lives near this park.  I like my park better. 

It is a very liberal town... in many ways.

And the park across the street is a man's dream come true... at least for watching.  The lesbians look just like they do in the 'movies'.... not the ones we are used to seeing in America.  Not a 'butch' in the group.

And about the gay situation here.. this city is openly gay.. there are lesbians and gays as open as they are in SF.  This was a big surprise given past discussions on the forum.  I will say this about gay bashing in StP if it exists at all.. it is certainly the same as it is in SF where people make such attacks because it is an open city.

Interesting you are/were in Saint Petersburg, I hope you had a great time over there, that explains why I did not had news from you in a while.
