I am still pissed about the bear!  But honestly I think it was that night that I really fell in love with St Petersburg.  You know.. a few nights later I was coming back from Peter and Paul fortress and there was a flash mob at the rostral columns doing salsa dancing on one side and modern ballroom dance on the other side.. it was very cool.. several hundred people watching and maybe fifty couples dancing. 

I am real excited about my CMEHA camera too.. Monday I am headed down to a pro photo shop to have them do a cleaning and get some black and white film.  I located a coop darkroom also so I am getting ready to do something interesting.  Possom told me he had one of the same model cameras and it took really rotten photos so that is really perfect.  I can't wait!

BTW... the Bhuddist Nudist keeps sending me SMS messages.. she is still in StP and went to some rock concert today.

We never mentioned it... it sort of happened by accident, then leaked out.

jet lag sucks.. try as I might I fell asleep at 8 pm and just woke up at midnight.. i am screwed for another day at least..

LOL, you are lucky if you recover from jet lag so quickly!!  It takes me a couple of weeks, but I never get it going from europe to the US, it is allways the other way around for me.

thanks Gylden.. I usually am fine on my way to europe.. I usually stay up the whole night before and try to sleep on the plane arriving more or less on local time.. if i cant sleep on the plane (common now) I can usually coffee up and stay awake the rest of the first day and go to sleep at local time and I am perfect.  Coming home though.. I can never seem to get it right.  But I am thinking i might be able to fall asleep again in an hour or two.. I hope.. I really need to be on my game the coming week as I get back into work mode.

I swear by melatonin.  I wish I had tried it years a go.  I take it for 3 or 4 days when I arrive in Europe and upon returning home.  No disrupted sleep patterns or jet lag.  I tried a prescription sleep aid a few years a go.  I slept but still felt awful during the day.

Phil you are the second person to mention melatonin in the last few days.  I tried it back in the 90s for a general sleep aide but it gave me unpleasant/psychotic dreams so I stopped taking it.  Oddly, I was right by the medical marijuana dispensary yesterday and I didn't get anything.  If I don't sleep normal tonight I will have to.  I was awake from midnight till about 5 am and then managed to sleep again from 5 till just now at 9 am.  Really sucks but I think if I can manage to stay awake all day today I will be ok tomorrow.

I am a newbie and have been here for a short while. I have been reading a lot of threads and loved them. Above all: I have learned a lot! I have been reading your thread with great interest too. It has been one of the best. I am probably going to St. Petersburg too. Hopefully soon. The women there seem to really be phenomenal.

About that Melatonine. I am an endurance athlete and have quite a low heart rate. When I do not train or when I have had a heavy training I take them too. They help get me to a sleep rhythm. Of course everyones body works different.

I wish you much luck and a lot of fun with the ladies and hopefully one decides to be with you and that everything works out.

I'm the same way. I've been in SPb for nearly 2 weeks now and I still feel sleepy every evening. This isn't the case at home. This happens to me every time I come to Russia but never when I return home. I guess I'll have to try the melatonin idea.

Mr.Sharikov, if you're planning to buy melatonin tablets in Russia, I'd recommend Melaxen. Produced by Unifarm \ New York.

Not sure if it has been tested on lab mice, but tests on forum mice gave good results

I am the other way around.  Going I have no problems, and adjust quickly.  It is the coming home where I am wiped out for a week.  Probably due to excitement when I get there... and the let down of coming home.

Just the opposite for me.  Melatonin does nothing for me, but sleeping pills solve the problem.

Try the newer sleeping pills like Lunesta (the best I think) and Ambien.  They don't have any after effects the next day; at least for me.

Also, I don't have much problem with jet lag when I travel east to Europe, but have a lot of problems when I come back west.  For me, I think the reason is that I am hyped up when I travel to somewhere new, and vice versa when I return to the regular stomping grounds.

An inexpensive alternative to these rather expensive meds is trazodone taken in low doses.  One possible side effect for men - industrial grade erections. 

Upon arriving (coming or going), I too push myself and stay awake until the normal bedtime for my locale. 

What is the rule of thumb - it takes one day to adjust for every two time zones?  For a 10-hour time zone difference, it takes me one 30-hour day without sleep, 10 hours of sleep, a relaxing day, and 8 hours of sleep. With that I awaken ready to go as if I never left.
