UKRAINE: Then and Now -- Babes
« Reply #50 on: June 03, 2011, 02:32:18 PM »
Genes, Clothes and Attitude.  I like that description of Ukrainian/Russian women Simoni.  Very well put.

Women in Dnepr are very beautiful.   It took me a couple of days to get used to their great looks and sexy way of dressing.  I have only posted a few pictures above, and they do not do justice to the amazing ladies I have seen.  Yes--there were much better.

So Genes, Clothes and Attitude are still alive and well in Dnepr--just like five years ago.

My verdict-- no change between now and then.

Trust me, the ladies in Ukraine look much better than the roads!!  I would say that the young ladies are healthy, slender, stylish and fresh!!

DISCO

During the times 5-8 years ago when I was dating FSU women in Russia and Ukraine, I went to some great disco clubs.

Generally, I liked them a lot for three reasons-- the energy, the music, and the hot women.

But for whatever reason, my wife and I never have been to a disco together. So we decided to correct that on this trip to Dnepr.

Last night we went to a disco and were joined by a GF of my wife.   Tanya is a beautiful, smart, kind, sexy 33 year old woman...and looking for a good man if any of you good men at RWD are interested.

Anyway, two hours later we went away disappointed by our disco experience.  Too much smoke. Too much bad music.  Too many people.

I'm glad we went, but mostly because it tells us we have not been missing anything.  Then again, maybe we are just an old married couple that likes to go to sleep at 10 PM! LOL

One tidbit--I stuck with my favorite Mexican been in the land of Ukraine.

The beer tasted right. The front of the bottle looked right.  But oh my--look at the BACK  of the bottle :-)

The low point of the night at the disco had to be when the Ukrainian lead singer sang "Pretty Woman."  I did record the song after the guy uttered "Mercy," in his UA accent. I'll put it on youtube for you later :-)

Great to see some pics and a personal tour of Dnepr.  Enjoying it very much!

I didn't realise you could rent and apartment in MOCT?  Excellent option if my wife ever sells her apartment there.

Another bonus is the cafe's downstairs in and around the Atrium.

Tip... the manicure place upstairs near the entry of Portofino is open till 11pm every night (well, every night we were there last time.)  We (the men) can relax with a beer and some dried squid and they (our wives) can get their nails done!   :P

Oh, and PLEASE go to the shashlik restaurant Nirvana in Globu Park and have the pork shashlik with the special Georgian sauce and tell me if it isn't just the greatest!

Simoni,  would you mind if added some pics from my last trip there?  We may end up with a thread paying homage to our shared favourite city.

Yeah, I overcame a wave of cultural shock by moving from the Russian beer Baltica to Corona....my root are in Texas.

Thanks for your comments, LAman.  And do visit Dnepr sometime :-)

Yes, I would love for you to add some of your Dnepr pics to the thread, Kuna.   And yes, we did eat eat  at Nirvana in Globu Park Wednesday night, and I loved the port Shashlk along with a Russian beer.  Our friends that live near the park had recommended it to us.  We also ate a kid's place in Globu Park one night--it was a log cabin and featured shows for kids.  For other readers--the pics of the park I posted are from Globu.  The park is six blocks from my wife's mother.

I think the MOCT apartments are fairly new.   At $60 a night, it's a little higher than most apartments in town, but the location is to die for if you want to be in the hub of activity.

I'll post more later that confirms what Kuna is saying about the shops and activities in the MOCT center.

MOCT has a large children's play area on the second floor. (Think of a high end Chucky Cheese times five times the size."

I have spent HOURS playing there with my daughter.  Before you feel sorry for me, it's not only great being with my daughter, but I'm surrounded by dozens of hot UA mommies playing with their kids! LOL

LAman-- High heels, and very high heels, are still the standard to wear when a girl goes out.  They kept catching my attention.

But you are right-I noticed more flat or comfortable shoes than before.

Cars in River City
« Reply #61 on: June 05, 2011, 06:56:05 PM »
I have been sending emails to my brother with pics, and he asked about cars in Ukraine.

Chevy is really coming into the market there.

Still a lot of high end stuff-- BMW, Lexus, Infinity.

But I see more hondas than anything.

Older cars still tend to be Lada.

The son of a next door neighbor is driving one, and took me for a spin.  Car sounds and runs great!

Here are some pics of his car...

Smoking Hot Chicks in River City
« Reply #62 on: June 05, 2011, 08:27:26 PM »
Many of the girls in Dnerp are SMOKING HOT!

But unfortunately, many are smoking.

Phillip Morris is losing in the US, but winning big in Ukraine.

One out of every three people in Ukraine smoke, as compared to less than 20% in the US.  But i swear--it looked to me like more than 50% were blowing smoke.   It's hard eat in restaurants because of the haze.

Higher Education in River City

My wife graduated with a degree in Marketing from Dnepr National University.

She had to commute by train and bus 30 minutes to get to campus.

Today that would not be the case.  There is a new business and law college just 10 blocks from where she lived.

Here is a pic:

These young ladies dress like they are on a date--not a stroll through the park.  Dressing up and looking your best when you go out is a mindset and a matter of pride.  I like it.

What happened with that picture?
It looks like a double exposure got in there.
Also, all the others look great.

Simoni ran across this article a couple of days ago. At Moscow rail stations Russian police were giving out lollipops to smokers in exchange for their cigarettes being dropped into a bucket of water.  The percentage of smokers in Russia or at least in Moscow is out of sight, almost all men in Moscow seem to smoke and a good portion of the women.

Thanks, Bill.

I agree that smoking is a big problem in the FSU.

My wife says 60 % smoke; the data I found says 33%.   My observations tend to agree with the 60% figure.

Candy for cigs-- I like that idea! :-)

The food here is delicious, and that goes for restaurants as well as mother-in-laws kitchen.

Maybe I will gain 5 pounds here?  The good thing is that we are walking about 5 miles a day--mostly to get from point A to point B.  So maybe the exercise will counter the food.  I hope so!

The lucky thing is that our route is along the dnepr river--a river so wild that only the Mississippi compares to it.

Here is a pic I shot yesterday with a zoom lens from 50 yards away.  Notice the beauty of the Ukrainian flag...

Simoni I missed you by a couple of weeks in Dnepropetrovsk.   What a difference in weather over the same time period from 2010 to 2011. Had you made your trip to Dneprop last spring at the same time you would have seen rain almost everyday.  This year, perfect weather.

I had not heard of this report indicating 30% of the Ukraine people smoking but I will say from my experience with women from the age's of 19 to 40 I would agree with your wife. Although I will lean a little higher at 65%.   A lot of women who are with marriage agencies, who are on various websites and personal sites, will indicate they do not smoke.  You meet her, she' smokes. Happens a LOT.  You mentioned to her that you thought she did not smoke and most replies are  "I am going to quit when I meet husband".    A lot of Ukraine women know that smoking is not attractive to many western men.

It has taken a long time to repaint the domes of the cathederal. You can see by the photos little changes to the Cathedral until 2010 The photos also show change in and around the area.

From where these photos of the Cathedral were taken if I look to my left would be the condo you refer to staying in.  If I'm not mistaken we can see that condo from this photo and you had a bird's eye view of European Square.

The price of $60 you mention is quite a good and competitive price for that location. I'm not aware of many nice flats in this area priced less than that.  As we go up the hill, cross the river, or get about two kilometers south of Karl Marx is where I see pricing for flats in the 40's, 50's and 60 dollars a night price range. Many nice flats on or close to Karl Marx are in the 70-80's range.

And it's so cool your able to post photos of local beauties without the normal cry babies shedding their tears.

You know what amazes GOB??
These guys NEVER post pictures of fat middle aged FSU women on RWD.
I wonder why?

GOB

PS....I guess the older (over 30) fat ones aren't "family orientated".

I would venture a guess there are a LOT of things that "amazes" you.

While you are in the process of being amazed, can you tell me WHY it is you refer to "GOB" in the third-person? The 'normal' intent of use of third-person is to represent an "objective" perspective - something you clearly lack. So what is your motive?

While acting the part of the English teacher, I would be negligent if I failed to point out that there is no such word as "orientated." It *is* a pretty common misuse of the word 'oriented' and there *is* a word for 'orientation' but none for your word usage.

GOB, it is a bit late in the day there in FL. Please remember what I wrote in PMs to you earlier today.

Maybe not in North America, but there is in the rest of the world (refer Oxford English Dictionary).  I use it all the time in my work.  To me it is far more logical to use "orientate" and "orientation" because, while "orient" in this sense is also correct, there is no such word as "oriention."
