This particular milk was bought at a marked, privately made and sold. I guess the safest is to stay away from drinking milk altogether in Ukraine. Interestingly, the first and only time I had a food poisioning before now, was when I was in St. Petersburg in 1997. I got it after eating a dinner at the Hotel Moscow there, but there was no milk involved, as far as I can remember.

In Ukraine, its not safe to drink raw milk unless you know for sure where it came from. I have always purchased the pasteurized milk bottles in the grocery stores and never had a problem with them at all. You always have to be careful when buying meats and dairy products from streetside vendors in Ukraine.

That's a pisser on being sick Roy. Did you by chance pack any Imodium? Just from rumors from before my first trip I was determined I'd always take some with me and have. Thankfully I have never needed it. BTW, I suppose you are referring to raw milk? I drink a lot of milk and have on every trip but it is all pasturized. I find a different taste to the milk in Russia from the US and I prefer it

Your girl is sweet!!!! :clapping:

So you became ill from drinking natural milk; ironic given that you are  The Natural.

I thought the same, except Roy is far better looking and doesn't have evil eyes.

Roy needs to surround himself with about 6 flatheaded bodyguards and just walk around.

Imodium is just sissy stuff.
Go for the Cipro to really knock out stomach bugs.

Also, go for the milk sold in cartons that don't need refrigeration and last for several months.  Sure, sure it has a bunch of chemicals in it, but all the bugs are gone.

With me, the big bug-a-boo in FSU has been ice cream served in restaurants; even 5 star restaurants.  I think the problem is this ice cream has been allowed to melt at some point, bacteria gets started, and then it is refrozen and served.

On the other hand, I have never had problems with McDonalds ice cream anywhere in the world, so that's all I will eat when out of country.

Also Natural, it looks like you have a pretty good case of sunburn in the pic with you and the gal.  Sunburn can make a person pretty sick at stomach, along with some other serious effects.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

I didn't bring any remedies no. My girl gave me 3 coal tablets and a couple other ones that I don't know what are. She also made me drink tea and soup, even warm water that I called potatoe water which tasted awful and I respectfully refused to drink that. She also suggested I drink 50 grams of vodka mixed with salt. My stomach turned at the mere thought of that, so I didn't. I like vodka very much as you know, but alcohol in any form was a real turn-off during my illness.

I love milk, always have. But as I said, since 2005 I have only been drinking raw milk for health reasons, and anyone who have tried it will also say the taste is far superior to the pasteurized factory milk. Since March however, I haven't been drinking much milk as I lost a lot of weight. But if I have the option of drinking pasteurized milk or no milk, I would rather drink no milk. I consider this processed and enzymeless food a junk food. It is also a myth that pasteurized milk cannot be tainted and carry disease creating pathogens. It most certainly can and sometimes do.

It's funny, my girl had said earlier that I look like Putin and when I told her some people here think I look like Putin she said that her mother also said that, LOL. Then she said in her sweet voice: "Oh, my little Putin". Myself, I have never made that connection. I guess I could do worse, like looking like Yasser Arafat for example, hehe.

Many times my girl say she's a simple girl. She is uncomplicated and very easy-going. She's also so sweet, I just love her sweet round face. She has a good sense of humour and I love to make her laugh in her wonderful laugh. Yesterday while we were sitting in the restaurant talking and enjoying refreshments, she looked particularly wonderful, so I took this photo of her:

I apologize ML if my mere mention of Imodium was somehow threatening your masculinity  :D

I'm a milk junkie too and love raw but very particular where I'll drink any milk. So particular on raw milk I rarely have an opportunity to drink any. I've never heard that rumor on pasturized but, milk isn't brain science. Generally the nose or the taste is pretty alarming. It is bacteria haven (some of which is actually good for you) but when mishandled the consequences are quite severe.

Your lady is an absolute baby doll. And if she's everything you say, you did good!  ;D

Great TR. Keep it coming.

Yesterday we took the bus to the center again and this time we decided to climb the stairs to a hilltop called Mitridat. It's very impressive. A huge construction of massive steps all the way up and a magnificent view of the city, Black sea and some very old ruins of a settlement. We took lots of photos and film up there. Very nice.

Afterwards we went down to the center and had some refreshments in the "Carlsberg" restaurant along the pedestrian street.

Yesterday we went on an excusion. Took a tour bus from the center and drove a little outside Kerch to a place where 15000 people went hiding in underground caves, trying to escape the Nazis. All but 7 were killed and they were captured and sent to German prison camps and after the war, to Soviet Gulag because they were "traitors" that had surrendered rather than be killed.

They built a huge monument over ther caves as can be seen on the photos. During the short drive out from Kerch to this place that my girl wrote as named: Adshimushkai Kamenolomni, we sat on the front row and I filmed the drive. I don't know how to put videos other than Youtube here, but placed it on my Facebook. I took these photos once we were there but then the battery on my camera was empty. It didn't matter much as it would have been impossible to take any meaningful photos down in the dark cave, besides it's not allowed. We put on jackets as we went down and it was pretty chilly there, a strong contrast to the heat up in the sunshine.

Then we went to see a 2400 year old mausoleum, a grave for some rich and important person way back then.

After that, back to Kerch and to Mitridat. My girl and me just sat down and relaxed as we had been here just a couple of days earlier.

Hello all. Sorry about the inactivity here for so long, so just a little update from me on the last day of 2011.
I guess I’ve written all about my stay in Kerch, so I went home again and we continued chatting daily on Skype. We made plans for her to come to me for Christmas and started the paper work in October sometime. As work possibilities is awful for her in Kerch with earning perhaps only 200 dollars a month, I suggested she instead not work and study English, doing exercises and spending time with her mother. She agreed. So I sent her money to cope with everyday expenses.
I sent her the required documents and she made hers, including photographic proof that we know each other… photos of her and me together. She took the train to Kiev to deliver the documents and a few days later she was notified that she can come and get her passport. In spite of several horror stories she heard from others and read about, she had no problems and got the visa  :D
So she came to me on December 8 and will leave on February 20. The first couple of days she was a bit confused and overwhelmed by her new environment and the difference of it, but she quickly adjusted. She’s met family and friends. My sister-in-law from the Phillipines seem to like her a lot and been her on visits and going for walks with my girl when I was at work. She’s been in touch with her mother, sister and girlfriend on Skype which is of course a very good thing.
Right now she’s upstairs dressing up for the New Year’s celebration. We will go to my brother and family for a turkey dinner. Later in the night we’ll go home and celebrate long into the night. I have a bottle of Stolichnaya ready  ;)

PS. If anyone has any questions for my girl, she will be happy to answer them.

I wish everyone a wonderful 2012. НА ЗДОРОВЬЕ!!! SKÅL!

I haven't forgotten about you. Oh no, but I've been quite busy the past months, having my Crimean girl with me for 10 weeks. She got the visa, no problem, and came here on December 7 and went back on February 20. We had a wonderful few weeks together. It was of course very different for her but she quickly got used to and liked my family, my house and the surroundings. And most importantly, me  :D

PS: Anyone care to tell me how to post photos inside the text area? Don't care much for this way and wasted a lot of time as it didn't show up in the Preview mode.

Here's the two of us shortly after she arrived.
