'Thats true that money doesnt make you happy. I am making 50 mln and I am not any happier than one year ago when I was making 48'  :)
What if everything is an illusion and nothing exists? In that case, I've definitely overpaid for my carpet.

"He who has little but wants nothing is richer than he who has much but wants more."

Yeah, LOL...that sounds good doesn't it? That was originally coined by an English clergyman/gambler born in the late 18th century. He gambled and got rich, then kept gambling until he lost all his fortune...

Later in his life when he was in his late 40s...he became a destitute and lived off his family for his care and well-being. He then fell gravely ill and soon after, committed suicide at the young age of 53.

Here's one more of his notable...    "Many speak the truth when they say that they despise riches, but they mean the  riches possessed by others."

It sounds not only good but the most important it sounds wise. Charles Caleb Colton was not just a clergyman, he also was a popular writer during his time and art collector. Yes, his gambling obsession and hunger for more led him to a situation he found himself later. So, he did know what he was talking about  ;) and he got very fortunate to have such relatives as he had  ;)

Yeah, and I bet his family didn't subscribed to his preachings as otherwise they never would've been able to have the resource to support his booty in the first place....

Yes, I agree. He did have his moments.

Here's another nice proverb, that seem rather sad and ironic now...it's a native Indian proverb....

"This land doesn't belong to us, we are merely borrowing it from our children."

Of course not. Certain loving family understands the simple realities in life such as making sure ample provisions for security is best to be had on hand.  ;)   Planning for the future of your loved ones is always so very important although I realize this simple truth escapes the lost few now and then.  ;)

Yes, people do mistakes in their life, and sometimes the circumstances are beyond and above. But loving people stay loving. And it is a happiness and blessing to have such friends and relatives.

We all look at people and their happiness by our own parameters, so you do too. Reading through your posts it seems all your measurements are about money and financial security.  :)

My friend, an American woman with two children, who is a paralegal and has income about 50K-60K, got married a guy with two small children, who lost his job right before their engagement, and has nothing and they share one car, her car. But she did marry him anyway  helping him to stand on his feet and supporting his children.  In your book he most likely will be a looser, in my book, knowing her, a beautiful woman with loving and kind heart, he is a winner  ;)

So for me its pointless to waste money on clothes. And nobody is putting me on this "fashion diet", my  own priorities have changed. I have other, more rewarding things to spend money on.
Yes, clothes cost almost nothing.

Many girls in their profiles say that they would like to live in a cozy big house near the ocean.
Even when you live an hour from the ocean, you still can buy a wonderful diamond ring from Tiffany for the price you pay for a cozy house each month.

Dude, are you so pussy-whipped that diving down and finding pride and comfort to the nearest skirt to fight your battle is now second nature to you these days? That's got be embarassing for you, I'm sure. You're unraveling right before our very eyes...

Even that silly self-assuring post you made upthread (reply #190), LOL, what prompted that? Did anyone asked? Did anyone cared? LOL....you are starting to shows signs of some serious insecurities, dude. Relax, it's just the internet. I know you and a few others are here 24/7, but never let it consume and overshadow the happy life you have at home, OK? Otherwise folks are really going to start to doubt and wonder.

Anyway, FWIW, hiking up a few flights of stairs because the escalator stopped working isn't technically Cardio, know what I mean? Yeah, so you were huffing and puffing at the top of the stairs, but like you found out, it isn't like a 20-minute sauna to follow after can't help you unwind. So all is good in the world, dude.

Yeah…how’bout the gut-wrenching story I read recently about a gal who lost her job 3 years ago but was still able to gather enough resource to clone the puppy she lost 4 years prior…now THAT was touching…

It was nice of that South Korean company to discount the fee 50%, isn’t it? Had they not, can you just imagine how miserable she could've been?

OY the dramatics here is killing me sometimes….not like the bumper sticker I read not too long ago…

The irony of what the average person in both west and east would call the *haves*

furiously  debating over *realistic expectations* (oh Lordy lol)
and happiness of the * have nots* , shouldn't be lost here,
but i'm certain it has been.

You sound bitter, and there was not any reason for you to throw your insults, but I should admit you sound better in your arrogance and lack of understanding that there are some things in the World other than money that bring people happiness. Personally, I feel sorry for you  :)   And when I made my post about my friend I even did not expect you will understand, but whatever.  :)

I think you have misinterpreted her reasons to call Russia "a horrible place to live." Vodka or samogon have really nothing to do with it. (And btw, samogon is often far better than commercially sold vodka.)
You can read some of the reasons why Russian people consider immigration here: http://ej.ru/?a=note&id=11696
I'm not sure I can misinterpret a lady's reasons for leaving her country, when she sits down on the couch and specifically enumerates them over several cups of tea. Ya gavaryu pa-Russki ochyen ne-horosho, no ona govorit pa-Angliiskii ochyen horosho, a Ya paneemayoo ona horosho. I have nothing against samogon. Over here we call it moonshine. I don't drink, but moonshine is way better than storebought liqour.
