I disagree, I think you can tell whether a woman is worth contacting or not in many cases just from reading her profile.

Really? Far be it for me to destroy that dream, though.    If one thinks that RW dating profiles are in many cases representing true personality or are excellent at capturing it (personality), then they probably also believe in the value of political correctness  in order to successfully use a rotational policy in, say, the Euro men championship.

Interesting - I've altered my profile on EM a couple of times and they've never rewritten or edited it.  I can see why they would edit some whose English skills are obviously very low, but there doesn't seem any reason to change yours.

I think it is a recent thing, I don't think they had it before. My guess was that they considered that "must" not to be feminine and sweet enough and altered the text, I don't remember the text of my profile very well, but I know that I also mentioned the features  that I don't want to see in my future  partner, they removed that part completely.

I saw a lot worse things written in local American profiles where people only mention what they don't want instead of what they want but nobody alters them.
Another thing  was that I mentioned my occupation but I didn't mention the branch, when they called to me they asked about that and put that in the profile without my permission.

They also made some changes with the pictures: I had a couple of nice portrait pictures and full body pictures and the rest of them were showing my interests, the places where I'd been (with me there, I was close enough), but what they did: they cropped the pictures and cut the parts that were supposed to show my hobbies just to show my body closer.

The primary photo: I picked up a nice portrait photo to be the primary one and I know it was great, many men  on Match complimented on that one, it didn't show other people or animals, kids or nudity, etc, but EM put a different one as the primary photo (I didn't want for that photo to be the primary one). I have no idea why they are doing that, they obviously have their own reasons.

Let me guess;  EM selected a photo showing more of your body.   I guess this because my ex-wife was on EM 7 years ago and EM asked her for a bikini photo.  She refused. 
I am one of those  men who prefers relaxed homemade photos without skin.    It seems such men are few in number.

Business - business. Money is money. EM loose some mark in my opinion here. I know that they try to hit agencies to get profile. So for those who believe that EM has no connection with agencies, they are wrong. EM chase agencies' profiles and are ready to pay for.
EM stays one of the best site to meet genuine women but it's not perfect.
I have met at least three prodaters (one very experimented, one average and one beginner) and found a prostitute. A lot of new profiles who contact you are just scam, wait 10 days and they are removed.
But on other hand i have met at least three genuine girls, and i had had big love affair with two of them.

What can I say? Poor WM, it appears that you are moving into a period of diminishing returns as more RW start to emulate their grasping Western sisters
