Tattoos on Russian Women
« on: October 14, 2012, 12:26:38 AM »
Hey all:

Perhaps this is a silly question...

A significant portion of women where I am located have tattoos.  Before you ask, I am not in prison...

I am not kidding.  I saw a GRANDMOTHER at a restaurant Friday with tattoos on her legs & neck.

I would estimate that about 30% of women between the ages of 20-70 have tattoos where I am at.

My question is thus:

Are tattoos becoming common in regular Russian/FSU culture?  I know tattoos are big in Russian prison, but what about on the outside?

I think almost all tattoos are defacing, especially on a woman.  I do not like them.

Thanks!

Popularity of tattoos has been rising in the FSU.
However the number of grannies having one is still low, so you should be ok. :P
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Regardless if tattoos become popular in the FSU, there are a number of people there as are here that will never get a tattoo.

After viewing all a lady's photos including the bikini pics, you come to the conclusion she has no tattoos. You like her, visit her and get serious with her. During the first intimate time when the panties comes off and you see a tattoo in the private area, do you think about the guy who put it there, get turned off and stop what you're doing or proceed as intended?

Hey all:

As always, thanks for the replies.  Some of them made me laugh, some made me think.

A). I DON'T know that all these women haven't been in prison, maybe they have...

HOWEVER, a lot of the tattoos look more "professional", probably indicating they were done in a studio...

B). I MIGHT be able to live with a small tattoo, depends.  There are 3 things that "skeeve" me out.

1). I don't trust the tattoo to be applied in a "clean" manner.  Have you seen some of the people who do them, and where they are done?  I wouldn't want them handling food, let alone a medical type procedure.  Why take the risk?

2). When I was growing up, tattoos were associated with Sailors, Marines, cannibals, waffen SS, outlaw biker gangs, and carnies.  I appreciate Marines & sailors, but everything else is associated with criminality &  seediness.  "Reputable" people would not even consider getting a tattoo.

3). I think it shows poor judgement/decision making skills.  What happens if you don't like it in 3 or 4 years.  What happens when you age and it turns into a blob?

I really can't stand neck and face tattoos.  That would be an absolute deal breaker!  What is it with women getting tattoos of their children's names on their necks?  Is that so they won't forget?

So many people are getting tattoos now, it is a standard thing.  Perhaps the cool people are the ones without tattoos.

If I were of criminal intent, I would definitely NOT want a tattoo.  It makes you that much easier to identify.

well this is a question to the RW,
but men always answer so i'll chime in since i have experience in the matter..lol

Its is becoming more popular in the FSU in younger people.

as well as belly button piercings etc.

It's not nearly as popular as here.
If it's a complete turn off for you its easy enough to avoid there.

For what its worth I have some (some are very old and not blobs)

Long ago it was viewed pretty oddly in the FSU, since only prison men have them.. lol
somehow I still got past this hurdle.
(my FSU ex actually had similar small bird/butterfly as in the vid, (a bit longer but more delicate)after she moved to the USA ,so maybe she was always more open to such?)

In todays FSU society , it's much more accepted, although for some it would be a big turnoff.
It never bothered me or my chances really.

and the chances some random FSU woman you are attracted to will have a tattoo is rather slim.

It may sound odd to you but i'm no fan of them on women either..
however like hair color it isn't some deal breaker and they could be removed if she wanted to.
I'm thinking few men would turn down a FSU version of  Angelina Jolie, over her tatts, but i'm sure its possible.
*shrugs*

I have seen so many of these but I have never asked:

Is the small jewel on the nose that I see on so many women a piercing or is just a one-day stick on?  It is set at the bend of the nostril.  What is the significance?  Can anyone give me some insight?

I think it was inspired by an ancient Indian custom, see http://www.hindu-blog.com/2008/01/why-hindu-women-wear-nose-stud.html.

I agree almost completely with you.

On women, they're not to my taste so I have it on my KI list as an early on question to be answered (right after smoking and ownership of one or more cats).

LOL, I am but there is still a list of things I looked for in a woman throughout my life. No tattoos is one of them but was a critical factor.

I find tatts on a woman a turn off. They still call them "tramp stamps" around these parts. I've never seen one on a man that I thought "wow...I have to get one of those". I have never seen one that "looks good" even if it is a nice piece of art. All just personal opinion. I suppose you'll always have the "beatnik" artsy fartsy types no matter what country you go to and they think tatts are cool, beautiful, whatever.

I can state I have had more than one conversation with my wife about tattoos because we do see them all the time. To her and her crowd, family/friends in Russia, they all connect tattoos with convicts. I do not know a Russian in Russia that has a tattoo. I have seen some Russians in Russia with tattoos, I just don't know their circumstances.

Tattoos as you probably know, in prison in both the East and West are more of a ranking amongst criminals. It is much more serious in the East than the West but in both places what you wear on your skin can get you killed.

They are a turnoff to me too.  I can't imagine what these women with large body tattoos are going to do after the fad wears off.  It's about as appetizing as nose rings.  LOL

I have a feeling the girls with Tats are not to worried about you guys that don't like them.

The Fad is over, maybe, but i doubt it anytime soon.

For the record, I don't have any:)

What worry me more is that a lot of porno girls and prostitute get tattoos. So when you find an FSU woman with tattoos it is difficult to know who is she, cause assessing her past is barely impossible, in particular she is 35 or more.
