The FSB reported to the Americans that the elder Tsarnaev had killed three individuals in Boston, and that he was dangerous.  The FSB allegedly had him admit it on tape.  That was reported shortly after the bombing.  I wonder why Tsarnaev wasn't followed more closely.

All three of them were on welfare.  Where did they learn to make pressure cooker bombs?  I guess the FBI killed one of his associates  and the US attorney minradized him to keep the intelligence interrogation from proceeding.  For the FSB to give him up is saying something.  If this guy got his training from anti-Putin terrorists in Chechnya than the Paul Craig Roberts lemmings would be all over this.  Where are they?

Not to do with this group as such--yesterday Australia was put on terrorist alert for US citizens--the first time in history.The threats floating here I do not believe are specifically directed at US citizens--but are part of wider attempt of ISIS to strike any way they can.
 Recently-- we have had a series of successful  raids ( at least in the sense that they were prior to attacks) on ISIS inspired youths( 16/17 year olds) who had constructed bombs from internet advice. Some of the links stretched to the UK where British police made simultaneous arrests.
Amongst the plans were ideas to behead a policeman,plant bombs at AnzacDay ceremony  ( Australia & NZ's big day of remembrance), bomb a fun run ( where the theme is breast cancer fund raising)-- that is a few that were intended in my city-population over 4 million people.
The alarm is that such hate could be generated amongst such young people and how they could be influenced to such extremism at that young age.
The part that relates to US-- the bombs constructed came from information given to them over the internet from ISIS disciples-- not necessarily some master plan beyond the immediate circle.

It is good we can find agreement.  I don't know what to do about it.  Do you?

Media critics complain that American audiences have short attention spans, do not understand complexity and lack sophistication or nuance.  And yet here we are all asking the same question millions of others are asking on social media such as here and no follow up on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, CNBC et al..  Draw your own conclusions.

As evil and as guilty as Charlie Manson was/is, killing him would not solve anything.  Killing Tsarnev won't solve anything either.  Although I believe he is guilty, it is possible some future constituency may parole him or find him not guilty.  It is possible he could repent of his evil ways and choose a different path.  It is irrelevant to the questions we all want answers.

One more thing, after the WWII generation passed on, I blamed the Baby Boomer for messing everything up.  Now, it is my generation, generation X, we got this.  Perhaps Saint Augustine is right.  The Romans couldn't build a just society anymore than the stoics could govern themselves.  But we aren't even trying anymore.

What has that got to do with your original statement?  Everyone (including me) slams Doll for taking sideways trips from the original question or statement, but here are you doing exactly the same thing.  How can what Doll wrote possibly be construed as a defence for the bombing?

Irrelevant to your original statement.  Whether or not someone is on welfare hardly seems germane to the issue, although someone on welfare may have more time to spare making bombs.  Why not just admit that your original assertion was wrong, and THEN move on to ask if Doll (or anyone else) supports this terrorist act?  However, I'm pretty sure that any such question would be rather pointless, unless there are followers of ISIS or al Qaeda amongst the forum membership.

What welfare recipient are you talking about?  None of this family were on welfare, so I guess that whoever you're referring to (the older brother?) used his savings, like most people do when they want to travel.

You come across as overly paranoid about Russia.  LT asked an open question:  Where were they trained?

It is a good question, and one that I am sure our intelligence assets are looking into.  I have the feeling we know the answer already but it is not being disclosed to the press.

I didn't see, up thread, any inferences that the boys were trained by Russia.  As a matter of thought, it was the FSB who came forward with some of the background knowledge that we have.    The war on terror is universally fought by civilized countries.   While Russia is conducting a war of aggression in Ukraine, I still feel it is a civilized country.  But it is also one balancing on the brink of despotism.

I watched that video of Nemtsov's murder many times.  Did you?
