Plane crash in Kyiv!
« on: May 16, 2013, 11:46:01 AM »
My wife and daughter were on LOT flight LO 751 (operated by Hi Fly Transportes Aereo) on 6 May 2013 from Warsaw to Kyiv, arrival time: 13:45.
I have been trying to call their cell phone, but someone answers who does not speak English.
Today, I finally got through to my wife!
I have learned that the landing gear did not come down and the plane made an emergency landing!
My family was in the hospital and just made it to their home town. It appears a nurse answered their phone and did not understand anything I was saying.
PLEASE! Does anyone know or can find out what happened with this flight?

Wayne, I'm on a press list that automatically generates emails to members of the press community anytime an event of importance happens at Boryspil.

I hadn't received anything so went to the KBP internal log and the last media communication generated was on April 2 of this year.

Glad your family is okay and perhaps you should use a Google search. If there is a true emergency and you need emergency info let me know by PM and I'll give you the telephone number to the airport press information office. As its not a general airport number it will be answered only when airport media staff are present.

You could also phone LOT airlines and ask, as you have the flight number and date.

ETA - I assume someone from the airline would have contacted you had your wife and daughter been hospitalized for more than a week.   Plus, who was charging  your wife's cellphone, and why if she was hospitalized and not in need of it?

I checked major Ukrainian newspapers, there are news about several emergency landings of airplanes in Ukraine in the past 5 months, some of them recent, but absolutely no information about this particular flight. This is odd.

I am curious to hear what happened to this flight.
Either there was an emergency landing or there wasn't.

In this day and age of tweets and FB and such, it is virtually impossible for an event of such magnitude to have not reached the general media.

Since it didn't reach the general media, it is more likely that the emergency landing didn't occur. In which case, it would be a very cruel joke for a relative (one's wife) to have played on a loved one.

Here is a fairly thorough site of aviation incidents.

The link is to the 2013 database page.

It would be extremely rare for such an incident to not have been reported. Almost impossible. Something is amiss Wayne. The fact there is no information would generally mean the flight was made without incident

So, they were missing for 10 days all the while someone who doesn't speak English was answering her phone...

Any incident, and especially one severe enough for some passengers to be hospitalized, should be in a report *somewhere*.

Hard to believe a woman would concoct such an easily debunked story so there is obviously something  somewhere somehow missing...

Wayne, your wife told you the plane made an emergency landing which put her in the hospital and that is the reason she was missing for days but why are you asking someone to verfify the flight information? If there are other questionable actions that have happened you'd like to share, we may be able to help with personality and character assessment but for now, nobody can find anything on a recent emergency landing situation that put people in a hospital.

Wayne, do you not know anybody who speaks Russian? I would certainly have tried to find someone who knew Russian or Ukrainian to call the number to figure out what was going on at some point over 10 days.

Above and foremost, whatever and wherever they may be (all parties involved - yes including the pilot/s) may they all be in good health and spirit....

I dont see a happy ending.

What do you mean?!? This is the MOB, man. Lather, rinse, repeat...there's really no sad ending. Just momentary emotional lapse, and guys go back as fast as they can and get themselves one of demwimmen' - then the cycle starts again. We have active members who are currently in this mode.

If this in fact is the end for our OP...maybe a more popular advice/approach with our US Romeos should be followed next time around...

In a nutshell, write and communicate with (a) gal/s who don't speak English for 2-3 months. Go as WOVO to show 'you-da-man', because, well, FSUWs like that in a 'man'. Then apply the bang-for-the-buck principle. i.e. cheapest apartment you can find, look for the cheapest airfare even it involves 10 layovers, then spend cheaply while there (unless the woman is putting out - and yes, believe it or not, you will know it), then come back home and file a K-1 for that 'back-up' lady...

Then it's just lather, rinse, repeat...

Well, over the years I've said men should get their psyht together first, above and foremost. That - before embarking on this silly adventure that they make sure they're mostly of sound state prior to adding people into their lives. That would be physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, etc....as this adventure is far beyond the 'me' factor, you know...

But the life and relationship *experts* simpy drowned-out all my silly advice...so it goes.
