No

A surprise to me; and I'll bet a surprise to many of the men there.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

Mendy, I am sorry but I don't think in this "stigma" in AM who search in FSU.
What are the most popular country WM hunt for wives? Gemany?
GB? France?
No- FSU,  Philippines, South America. The countries with "disadvantaged" economy and bad (for women) demographical situation.
Come on!

Doll, perhaps you misunderstood my point and I apologize for not being more clear.

The stigma back home is that these are men who couldn't find a wife across town so they were so desperate that they needed to cross the ocean to find a wife.

I'll give you an example: A man comes back from vacation to the large company for which he is employed. At lunch in the cafeteria a co-worker asks where he went for vacation? He replies, Russia (or any other country).

The room goes silent and finally some brave voices says, "so you went and got one of those mail order brides. Bet she is half your age and scrubs floors on her knees!" Within a hour everyone in the office knows that our man is a loser and by the time the gossip chain gets up and running all manner of juicy details of his life have been fabricated and circulated. That is the stigma of which I was writing.

Is situation 'bad' for men in those countries also?
No

In those countries, I agree that the women are more disadvantaged than men, principally because of gender inequality entrenched in the culture.  However, life is far from easy for the average man.

Mendy, a man before he takes a trip will be influenced by the MOB agency hype he reads.   After visiting the FSU, he will draw his opinions from what he sees and what he hears from FSU people (which will likely be limited to RW he dates).   Thus, many of these illusions are reinforced by the RW themselves and perhaps originate from RW.

For example, many a RW I dated had previously been married.   The divorce typically resulted because of one or more of the following reasons:   her RM husband's alcoholism, infidelity,  gambling, and/or lack of financial support.   Maybe the RW wife drove him to drink.    :D     However, my sample was obviously biased towards the experiences of RW with bad marriages and thinking a Western man could be better.

Regarding Public Drunkenness:  Probably you haven't been on the Moscow Metro after the workday recently.  On my last trip to Russia, I got on at Prospect Mira and got off at Pushkinskya after a transfer or two.  Now there are plenty of people that get on and off those trains.  But I saw (falling down drunk) seven people who were into their cups.   We made it a game to see how many we could see on our little Metro trip.

That is something you just don't normally see in the US.  At least to that degree.

The guys' replies were :"You sly dog. Got yourself a hot Natasha."

The women would say it was the most romantic thing they have heard. "Imagine flying thousands of miles to find true love. Ahhh." <Birds chirping>

Actually, one woman gave me a rash of shit after she saw one of those MOB "exposes" on TV.

Her: "Did you go to Russia to get a mail order bride?"
Me: "No. I paid 4 easy installments of $14.95 plus shipping and handling and they delivered her to my door."
Her: "Oh, you don't ave to be so stupid."
Me: "Neither do you."

Ride the NY subway and count how many stoned people you see.  I suspect it would equal your Moscow subway tally.

Small minded thinking, but such people exist in America.  Fortunately, wrong preconceptions are usually destroyed upon getting to know the RW.

There are all types of RW.  Ranging from highly educated, sophisticated women to some who behaved like this in their youth (who may be scrubbing floors today as a job).

Off the track a bit, but . . .

Just today I got a phone call with a new tactic; for me at least, maybe this has been around awhile.

Caller:  This is a call from 'Windows.'  We are getting reports from your computer that it is receiving attacks (or some such).  We here at Windows want to help you avoid these potential devastating attacks.

Are you at your computer now?

Me:  NO

Caller:  Well go to your computer, and I will guide you through the steps to protect your computer from future attacks.

Me:  I hung up phone.

Don't know if he just wanted to load viruses on my computer, or if he was going to eventually get around to me entering my credit card info.

Happened to me some time ago. A guy with an Indian accent. After asking a few questions he was NOT with Microsoft. I told him the call was being recorded. Bull. Just wanted to hear him sweat which he did.

Did he say "windows?"

There was a radio personality here who got one of those calls, had the number of the caller, and called him on air to ask questions.  Yes, they are looking for credit card numbers.  The caller eventually hung up on him, on air.

We got that call as well.  My son answered, and trolled him for about 10 minutes before telling the guy he doesn't own a computer.  He and his friends troll skype scammers as well.

Did he say "windows?"

Yes, he specifically said 'windows' 2-3 times.

I guess his bosses told it would be unethical to say Microsoft.

And, he  did have an Indian accent.

Later, I was wishing I had thought of saying  I didn't have a computer.  That should  really raise their hackles.

Back in the last century I blew the minds of a couple of Encyclopedia salesmen.

Part of their opening pitch is to say:  "You are interested in giving your children the best education possible . . . right?"

I replied:  "NO"

They didn't know how to go to their next step from there.

It is interesting that we handle these types of scams with calm and without threat to our wallets, yet the internet is full of stories of guys who supposedly lost their financial virginity because of a RW/UW.   :)

As I have written several times before . . . I never found that much difference in the FSUW and AW to begin with.  So I never had to wait the 'few years.'  Talking about behavioral characteristics here.

I enjoy cooking and view this in terms of adding spices to a dish or meat. It begins as the same ingredient, our basic human nature, but our environment and culture adds the extra spices to who we become. So we are the same underneath but the differences that remain during and after assimilation are whatever "spices" that remain from our initial stage of life, plus the new ones we add in the process of change to a new environment which for the most part are drawn from the culture that surrounds us.

I'll give you an example:...

I think I told this story before but "repetition is the Mother of knowledge" as Russian saying goes, plus I just like it so here it is again.   :D

We met and married in the third country where we both were working at that time.   After we got back to the States we ended up in a small town where my husband went to the University and his old college buddy still resided with with wife and 3 kids.   That buddy somehow found my husband's phone number and gave him a call, being very enthusiastic - "Man, long time no see, how are you, I've heard you went there and there! lets get together and share stories!"  My husband answered that why not, sure lets get together and told this buddy that he got married while abroad.   Buddy went even more bubbly - "Oh, great, wonderful, lets get together with families, go ball games!  Where is your wife from?"   "Russia"  "Oh...   I see...   well, I'll call you soon, we can go do stuff..."   Never heard from him again.   :D :D :D
