Yanukovich   is a giant of a man.  He stands 6'4" and towers over other leaders.  Anyone seeing a picture of him with Putin will be amazed at the disparity.

Put him the ring with the Klitschko brothers..see how he does.

That does not give the protesters the right to violence or destruction.  They voted in the current politicians.  They can vote them out in the next election.  Or as the current US president likes to say, "Elections have consequences".  Let me be clear, I am not a fan of the current regime in Ukraine. But the protestors went from protestors to criminals the last week to 10 days.

I was in the military, so I really understand this. Would I fire on a civilian with out cause, no. But if someone is shooting at me or trying to hurt me, then I will defend myself.

I have read history, so this is meaningless.  My example was to show how fellow Ukrainians are being treated by these "Patriots".

I have never hear such an idiotic and ignorant statement.

Much like the typical statement from spokespersons from the government who will bend over and take it like a man. And enjoy it too.

Brillynt, in the course of history, men have taken arms against despots when they have nothing else to lose. You seem to live a very sheltered life.

Stop being so stupid and blind!! Believe me, no sniper shots and kills any girl medic specially. It is so silly and even stupid thought. Could you post here a link where I could read about this murder? If it happened, all TV-channels and Radio ones would cry ( shout ) about it. I live here and I have not heard or seen about it!

It appears the medic did survive.

Also, do you need the link where it shows that the majority of the civilian deaths were targeted by snipers? Here.

Now, that wasn't so painful, was it?

Well, I awake this morning with hope in my heart.  It appears that a truce has been signed. The Rada passed legislation to restore the Constitution to the 2014 version and amnesty to all protesters.

The government police and troops have withdrawn and sent home.

Many in Yanukovych cabinet have fled the country.  Hopefully they can be captured and held for trial.  New elections are to be held in a few months.

It is intersting to note that 35 members of Party of Regions have announced having their 'own views' independent of Yanukovych.  Seems to me like a face saving attempt to distance themselves from the actions of the party up until now.  Perhaps also trying to salvage some support for upcoming elections.  Good luck with that one.    ;D

My wife reported this morning that the people are skeptical and are now waiting to see if Yanukovych will keep his promise.  As of today, the ATM's are still not working and all merchants are 'cash only'.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to scan all the news before going to work, but lets pray that this is the end to the bloodshed and Ukraine is on its way to a new improved government and freedom.  Perhaps this was a revolution that will turn out to have been a success.

People are now able to come out of their homes and be on the street without fear of being killed by government snipers and thugs.   It will take some time for public transportation and other services to be restored, but I expect it to be soon.  The trains are not yet running, but she expects that to be corrected soon.

Glory to Ukraine!!!

True.

Here we go again!  What on earth has the situation in Ukraine got to do with the USA?  Faux Pas, your Government will never, EVER be in the same situation as that in Ukraine.

The situation I am referring to is a government firing on it's own citizens, in case you are referring to something else. A government with all the fire power and the citizenry with none. You've got your head planted firmly in your anus if you believe it could not happen in the U.S. or even on that beloved little island nation thingy you reside on. It could happen there, too

I hate to say this but, do you really believe the American army will fire on its own brothers and sisters?

Let's go step further. Assume that it happens, what do you think will happen when a trained professional killer armed to the teeth face your weekend deer hunter?

This must be the biggest lie told to the American public.

BTW, I'm pricing rifles right now because my son wants me to join him in target shooting when he returns from active duty.

Finally, I'm not anti gun nor ever felt that way. I strongly believe the Second ammendment should stay the way it is. You'd be surprised how many "liberals" feel the same way. I just wish it would be obeyed.

Yes, it is a red flag if the gal knows the location of an ATM, and a big red flag if she knows the location of two or more.

I'll believe it when I see it.  From the article:

"However, Vlasenko raised the possible threat by Yanukovych and his "pet prosecutor" Viktor Pshonka of other criminal cases being opened against her. "It's easier for him to accuse her of a million new crimes than allow her to go free," the lawyer said."

No, not the American military, but what about the Dept of Homeland Security, you know, such as minimally educated TSA agents who blithely grope their fellow citizens crotches at airports? DHS is, even now, stockpiling hundreds of millions of rounds of ammunition...to what Constitutional purpose?

I'm well aware that's what you meant - so did I.

You've got your head planted firmly in your anus if you believe it could not happen in the U.S. or even on that beloved little island nation thingy you reside on. It could happen there, too.

I feel sorry for you when I read this.  You live in what you purport to be "the greatest country on Earth" and you STILL spout this drivel!  Why are you so paranoid?  The chances of this happening are about the same as the President of Betelgeuse A having a share of a winning ticket in El Gordo!  Why can't you realise that people in most of the world don't go around shooting each other?

As for it happening here - get real!  Why do you think that New Zealand is one of the first countries that others turn to when peace-keeping forces are requested?  It's because the rest of the world believes in the ability of our military personnel to defuse situations, not inflame them.  That's why Bamiyan Province in Afghanistan has been able to be rebuilt to a stage where, although there's still a lot to do, it more closely resembles normality than many places in that beleaguered country.

Obviously there's always a remote chance that an individual soldier might go nuts and start shooting people (like in Texas) - but for the military forces as a whole?

You presumably have a productive life away from RWD, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's all done through the internet so that you don't have to leave what must be your bunkered fortress of a home.

President Obama plans to call Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday to discuss the peace deal in Ukraine.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said the call would occur in the early afternoon, and that Putin and Obama would discuss issues related to the implementation of the agreement. "The fact of the matter is it is in Russia's interest for the violence to end in Ukraine, as it is in the interests of the United States and our European friends, and of course, most importantly, the Ukrainian people," Carney said. "And we welcome the cessation of violence and we welcome the agreements that have been reached."
Again, nothing will come of BO's chit chat.

If for some reason there was all-out war between the current US military and "the people", the military would be crushed... which is as it should be.

There are also many photos and footage of snipers in action.

Not every one is aware of every fact.

CB it is important to understand that there is considerable disinformation designed to mislead the populace at large and hide the realities from the people of Ukraine.Unless looking at some alternative media sources in Ukraine you would not have much idea of what has been going on.
Secondly--there are those (as we have seen even in this thread) in Ukraine that hold outdated view and see reports as propoganda( from who-why etc-defies explanation!!)

Yes I do believe the American army WILL fire on the populace, under the right circumstances.  I think it is ridiculous to make a blanket statement saying they NEVER would.

What would happen?  That would depend.  A lot of the 'deer hunters' are ex military and very capable with their weapons.  What could happen would depend in part on who gets the drop on who.  It wouldn't be like the British Army lining up in formation and firing in unison.

I don't see us on the cusp of a revolution right now  but circumstances change constantly.
