Certainly here.  It has been reported in the last couple of days that a foreign national was arrested on 9th May and charged with burglary and assault with intent to rape - turns out to be embassy staff.  Of course he claimed diplomatic immunity and has been whipped back home by his government.  It will be interesting to see if they actually do anything other than reprimand him for getting caught.

Diplomats here are quite famous for running high amount of traffic offenses for speeding and parking. They are never paid, and it is impossible to arrest the diplomats to force payments due to diplomatic immunity.

How things change...it was announced yesterday that there had been serious "miscommunication" between Ministers, Heads of Departments, and lower-level staff in both countries, all leading to Malaysia saying that they had always been prepared to waive diplomatic immunity in this case!  Great - now let's get him back here to face the music.

Now, if our two countries can sort this out, there may be hope for talks between Ukraine and Russia after all.  :wallbash: :deadhorse:

This is funny news: http://twitter.com/newsdnr/status/485507439241211904

quote :
"Ополченцам, прибывшим сегодня из Славянска на Щорса 62, требуются срочно матрасы. На всех не хватило имеющихся в наличии."

"Militia, who arrived today from Slavonic into Щорса 62, required urgently mattresses. Not enough at all available."

BUT,,, The comments are much more funnier!  :D

some of them :

"why mattresses? Immediately coffins can bring"
"Militias urgently need refrigeration."

ps

they have tanks, BTRs, ammo etc...(you can buy this in every gunshop in Ukraine) - but they don't have enough mattresses?

Why it is so difficult to go to the shops and buy these mattresses?

Ukrainian Pravada reports Putin's rebels are withdrawing from Donetsk.  The Ukrainian flag flies over Slaviansk.  All agree whatever happens will affect Vladimir Vladimirovich.

Yeah the video is over 2 years old.

Still trying to find the win win.

As Putin's invasion falters, questions remain whether Putin will double down on his folly or risk losing his base of support in the Siloveeki.

Change takes time.

The win did happen. The Ron Paul libertarian revolution is going on with his son Rand, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and all the other anti-establishment Republicans. There is even a liberal libertarian wing of the Democrat party forming who have had enough of their guy Obama. Ralph Nader recently wrote a book about it.  LT, you're a neo-con you even admit it. Americans are sick and tired of your wars and big government spending. You and your guys remind me of the beginning of the movie "Lean on me." You know the part where all the punks, hoods and trouble makers are put on stage for all the class to see, "You people are incorrigible!" Soon the push out the door will begin. It's not too late for you to get off the stage and join the civilized people.

So what?  I don't make policy.  All I do is advocate.  You really don't know me or my views.  But you are free to misrepresent them in anyway that makes you free good Maxx.  As usual, instead of discussing the topic at hand you bring up irrelevant issues that touch only tangentially. You cannot defend Putin or Russia.  The only think you can say -with galatic puffery- is that America is much worse.  That places you in the same category is Shadow, FT, GQB, LFU, Belvis, Justme100, Manny and all the other pro-Russians.  Even Steveboy has his limits with Putler.  But not some people.  You say you are for peace, but when guys like Putler kill men like you are strangely silent.  Why is that?

By the way, a Neocon is not a dirty word.

What "Putin" invasion?  Russia invaded Crimea and now they own it....What is going on in E. Ukraine is NOT a "Putin" invasion...It is just an excuse for 'war hero's' cough cough...to pretend they are fighting against an evil enemy....Despite your wails, the Ukrainian people especially in the East are divided on which way to go...That is their prerogative, and not reason for us to intervene and try to pick winners based on our own self-interest..Most of America wants us to disengage and take care of our own internal issues.

It is just an excuse for 'war hero's' cough cough...to pretend they are fighting against an evil enemy....Despite your wails, the Ukrainian people especially in the East are divided on which way to go...

Another lie, most of peaceful people pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainians have fled.  Only the sick, the old, the poor and the guilty remain.  They have decided.  You are indifferent to their suffering.  I am not because I have seen both suffer.  It was not a movie or a documentary it was and is my life.  That is something you can never minimize or discredit.  You cannot take it away from me.  A real peace initiative from someone like us or the Pope could make a difference, but even you would oppose that.  About a month ago, Alexander Motyl wrote a piece that the Donbass is gone:
http://www.worldaffairsjournal.org/blog/alexander-j-motyl/end-donbas

Having many friends in the region, I am sad to say he is right.  You of course will blame me.  I don't care.  I know the truth.
That is their prerogative, and not reason for us to intervene and try to pick winners based on our own self-interest

Another lie.  If that were true, you would be indifferent to Ukrainian victories WITH NO HELP from any of their European or Western allies.  Yet you are rooting for Russia, like this is the world cup while people are dying and you have the gall to call me a war monger -over the internet.  How very courageous

..Most of America wants us to disengage and take care of our own internal issues.

Fathertime!

Is that why you voted Obama?

Another lie, more of us are suffering because Sheeple like you vote.  You have no interest in solving American problems just putting Americans down to excuse the problems in your own life

Haha...I have to chuckle at ALL the misstatements you made to create another 'evil enemy'....I guess that is what 'war heroes' that quit do!  You can call the mostly internal conflict in E. Ukraine a Russian invasion...but from what I've read most of the US doesn't believe that to be the case.  You just want to insert the USA and OTHER PEOPLE'S children into battles that you wouldn't go to yourself!  That will be railed against!  Our army is a defensive force not to be misused in conflicts all over the world.

Reading his story he was indeed someone who put himself and others in danger for his principles.
In the right place and time could have been heroic. In the wrong place and time nothing more than stupid.

As said I respect anyone who has the courage to serve in the military. Even the ones who shown to be questionable.

Right,,    All those Russian tanks, APC, Grad rockets as well as the new rifles and uniforms are worn by tourists that happen to be passing by.

This is a true story.  Betsy wanted to keep something form her parents and I had to sign on.  Her parents particularly her mother knew something was up and kept asking me over skype.  I called the next day and spilled the beans.  Betsy was mad for a couple of hours but got over it.

These people had been lied to all of their lives.  They just want to live in a normal country.  Many consider the US or even European countries normal, but when asked what is a normal country, they are evasive.  Until you start talking about the Soviet Union.

Some of these people are fearful their business model would be disrupted.  Why?  Because people's incomes would go up?  because there aren't more depressed areas to find more hard up women to sex slave?  Or that those regions couldn't be found in democratic, free and prosperous Ukraine, Russia or Belarus?  Or that there aren't more of these dangerous places in the world?  BillyB is right, if you can't find the girl of your dreams in your own country you won't find her in the Former Soviet Union because the problem is you.  But that is not even what we are talking about here.  It is whether or not people have the right to be free.

A lot of you guys have families?  Do you want your sons and daughters to grow up or traveling to an un-free Russia or Ukraine?  Do you want to interact with gangsters?  I grew up around thugs - only one way to deal with them.  If you aren't willing to deal with them on those terms, you are enabling them.  I want my son to be proud of his heritage, to know where he comes from.  Ukraine is strong and free and no one but God can change that.

If the returning Russian soldiers are carrying Russian passports, chances are that they're not from the Red Cross or the Boy Scouts.

Mike, have you read stories about these poor boys that have died over there?

This is the story of Evgeny Korolenko.  Korlenko I think is a Ukrainian name but he lived in Russia, fought for the Soviet Union in Afghanistan for 2 years, had an ex-wife, a daughter and a new wife, no job, Putin offers him a job killing Ukrainians.  he himslef is killed and now Putin won't bury him.  Ukraine gives these people their dead back and Putin won't even bury them.  It is something out of Taras Bulba.

I stay very much up on the subject, LT. It's very near and dear to my heart. I did want to visit St. Pete and visit relatives there next year but now that's off the agenda.

Another huge cache of MANPADS, ATGW, ammunition and explosives found in a church in loviansk by the 2nd Batallion of the National Guard.

Four truckloads were brought back their camp, the soldiers are joking about Russia resupplying them.

These people had been lied to all of their lives.  They just want to live in a normal country.  Many consider the US or even European countries normal, but when asked what is a normal country, they are evasive.  Until you start talking about the Soviet Union.
Then why do you accept them being lied to once again? With promises about joining the EU that will not happen within the next 20 years, visa free travel that will nit happen within 10 years and reclaiming Crmiea that will not happen as long as Ukraine does not become part of Russia (Which I would certainly not want to happen)
We certainly agree on the last two sentences. Just not in how you define democracy and freedom.
As long as some wish to keep propaganda of a cald-war revival that dream will neve come true. Perhaps think over what you are fighting for.
Ukraine is strong and free and no one but God can change that.
Then there is no hope.
