I couldn't give a rat's arse what Moscow/Kiev would ultimately do with this mess.

You said you were – the U.S. was very deep – was deeply concerned about it, that it’s provocative. Well, the Russian defense ministry says that this is – this exercise is not taking place really close to the Ukrainian border. It’s a thousand kilometers away. And I’m wondering if given that, if you still have deep concerns about this being a provocative exercise.

------( LMAO! THAT'S *ROUGHLY* FROM L.A. TO ARIZONA/N.M. BORDER or SAN DIEGO TO THE OREGON BORDER ) -----------

I would take anything the Russian defense ministry says with a few bags of salt. Even if it is true....that's still less than a days drive away. They could be in Ukraine in less than 24 hours.

Funny that Kiev originally said it wasn't them.  Did they ever own up to that bombing?  I still get a chuckle out of cc3 accusing Russia when it wasn't them....

Nope. At least not that I'm aware of. But that's Kiev, what's new?

Well, first it'll help if you at least understood what was discussed. The military exercises were 1,000 kilometers away. The supposed troop build-up is relatively much closer to the border.

Here's the bottom line from GQ about the bloodshed in Ukraine:

I couldn't give a rat's arse what Moscow/Kiev would ultimately do with this mess. All I would like *to see* is for my country to just freaking quit intervening in another country's affair once and for all. We have a ton of problems facing us at home to be financing and sticking our nose in everyone else's business. As an example, Texas is forced to spend 10 million off the state's budget to put the National guard to guard our southern border because the Feds are slow to react and put the money out to guard the border. BUT they issue almost $50 MILLION to Ukraine to *secure their border*. How the fcok does that make sense to you?'

I underlined that phrase.
Washington is stupid about handling the southern border here, so we agree about that. There isn't any immigration control- it's more like an 'open border'. I get that, but what does this have to do with Ukraine, which is obviously being invaded by Russia. Russia wants to expand and create a 'New Russia'. because they/Putin feels 'entitled'. There's an attitude of coming to the rescue of 'Russian speakers' everywhere, even if the new ownership is not needed or wanted. People do die at our southern border, but Mexico is not threatening to invade the USA. So that's a really ridiculous analogy. The USA is certainly guilty of over-meddling in other parts of the world. No doubt. But, I've watched this grass-roots movement in Ukraine, which kicked-out Yanukovych, and has the painful goal of re-creating a government that has a goal of fighting the huge corruption problem in Ukraine. In Ukraine it's a movement of the people. These people are not mindless cattle who are being manipulated by Washington or Brussels. I think you can find a lot of truth in video interviews with locals. One government speech that I thought was extremely accurate was this one, by Samantha Powers at the UN:

excerpt:
Recruiting efforts for separatist fighters are expanding inside Russia and separatists have openly said that they are looking for volunteers with experience operating heavy weapons such as tanks and air defenses.  Russia has allowed officials from the “Donetsk Peoples’ Republic” to establish a recruiting office in Moscow.

It's one of the oldest tricks in the books.  It's called a topic change.  He can't win with the facts so he changes the subject.  For a guy who despises obama so much he sure does act like him.

Yes, recent past when all this crysis started in Ukraine.
What does Putin have to do with it?
And still my question- HOW exactly is he ruining Russia? Russia is very strong now.

Don't worry about it!! Just "Arm chair " political bla bla from people who live thousands of miles away and have no idea about real Russian life :deadhorse:

I guess you are not an "arm chair" politician.
So what is your take on the outcome of economic warefare between a country with the economy the size of Hong Kong vs. the EU/US economy?

I have spent about 10 years In Russia and not just in the "Russian showcases " even spent some time living rough! Slept with the homeless :) Travelled a lot over Russia by bus train and car. Spent a few crazy nights in the Russian police station Im not going to go into other things, nearly two years in Bender the Transnistria Republic , travelled to the majority of FSU countries, travelled all over Ukraine and spent much time there. Have many Russian friends and speak Russian. Is that enough??

In that case it isn't enough, because it didn't address the question at all.

Steve can't build and maintain his own Castle in his home country so he rides on foreign women's skirts to survive in life.

He suggest other men do the same.

No Im not an arm chair politician! And I don't give fig for the sanctions, what makes me sick though is the double standards of the EU/US government. Did anyone section Israel for war crimes against women and children?? I think you will also find over the next decade the US economy shrinking considerably. Double standards Double standards!

No, he didn't answer the question -

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten
