Learn to read, Doll. I did see a couple of the videos, then went back only to find they had been scrubbed.

Of course there is no prosecutor general in the USA. Are you under the impression that VK is headquartered in the USA? Sorry, if that is what you think. Perhaps you'd like to visit VK sometime: they occupy the beautiful "Singer House" on Nevsky in Piter.

I am enough of a target without posting my own photo--you must remember that most Russians can sense a foreigner in places like the Метро или электричка. Often I have a lanyard that reads Пресса/Press as required by the Russian Foreign Ministry when on assignment, so to make myself even more of a target would be suicidal. I do encounter threats from time to time, Doll, as foreign journalists are not exactly popular these days in Russia. I am not about to paint a bigger circle on my back--your Fatherland is not exactly so safe anymore.

Doll, Why do you insist on asking for proof from other people, when you yourself have said that you wont post the same?  Why on earth should anyone listen to a word you have to say when you wont back up a single claim you make?
Is this the average mentality of the Russian people?  Seriously, I'm asking everyone.  If they are this blind on average then I may have made a mistake.

I don't think anyone posted VK is managed in the US.  Wasn't its owner replaced and forced to flee Russia recently?

Yes, Pavel Durov, the founder of VK, was stripped of his position. He fled Russia saying that, "the country is incompatible with the Internet business at the moment."

Just found a very good look at possible outcomes for the situation in Donbas.

Anyone for all Russians donating to the rebels in Ukraine, you are truly idiots. Putin started this war to benefit his friends and his ego. He is destroying your country in the process and depleting all your cash reserves to fund it and to try and limit the damage to the ruble and the economy. Every time you pay more for your food and other items it is a direct result of his policies.

Will there ever be a personal benefit to you when this is over? Not likely if you are a normal citizen and not some rich oligarch! So save your money for yourself and your family. Putin will still all the money he needs from your pension fund anyway or let your medical services suffer even more. His war is more important than YOU!

Can you elaborate Taz?
What did you do to have some fun at the expense of those FSB clowns?

I worked in Moscow for some time and lived in Moscow and Siberia. I kept a lot of information on companies I worked with. It was a very simple matter to create some interesting emails that were basically disinformation but could be totally credible and send them to senior people at these companies. You can be certain that almost all email will be monitored for keywords within Russia.

All email servers located in Russia are likely 100% being monitored by the FSB. While I can't prove it, I know how Russia works. I have worked at IT positions within Russia and have a vast amount of computer and network experience (20+ years). In general you don't have to be too creative to make sure your stuff gets read.

If I want something relative secure I'll use multiple proxy servers to access web-based email in a country not under US or Russian jurisdiction nor having any close relationships with either. If you really want someone to pay attention just try and hide your stuff a little bit so they think you are a rube who isn't very clever but has something important to hide. For really buried content and communications I use a Tor browser.

Anyone excusing Russians being in Ukraine, you are truly idiots.
I borrowed a little from you comment!!

Good article that covers a few aspects.
Couple of quick points--the Russian air cover etc-- not using aircraft because then Putin would have to admit it was Russia waging war in Ukraine.
Putin has no approval to do that--in fact he is in breach of the constitution in conducting the war he is.

If Russia was overtly in the conflict by using aircraft-- it may well draw a more overt response from the west .

There are in fact-- many aircraft ready to use--including attack helicopters in very large numbers already in very short time position in relation to the front.

Last--and repeating myself--I am opposed to one millimeter of Ukraine being conceded permanently in any settlement.

Quoting
"The only acceptable scenario for Ukraine and its allies is for Russia to withdraw troops from the territory of Ukraine, stop weapons and ammunition supply for the separatist organisations in Donbas, establish control over the whole length of the Ukraine-Russia border, close the “windows” for the militia, mercenaries and smuggling, and restore control without setting any conditions. But our analysis proves that the Russian leadership is not ready to follow this scenario."

I doubt.
The infor I have from Rostov and Krasnodar regions IS first hand because I have kids and friends there. My ex lives in Crimea- I talk to him too.

He has explained his information is first hand, and not from a region away from the fighting.

BTW, a woman working in my office is from Luhansk.  Her view of what is occurring there is very different from yours.

Now the situation around the airport is very complex.

Totally amazing how Ukraine can hold onto the airport and pick off so many of those trying to oust them.

on a side note....

I was in Saratov when the government took total control of internet entering/leaving Russia. That was back around 2002-3. It was big in the newspapers. There was one internet provider owner that tried to fight that but he disappeared. Since that time everything has been routed thru Moscow but then what is new... it is much the same in the US.

Doll, as I clearly explained in that post, a pro-Ukrainian source had begun to upload videos. Did I see them? Yes, I saw two and assumed that vk members could return later and view them again. As I also clearly explained in that post, later they had been scrubbed, both from YouTube and from VK.

Do I have those videos? No, and neither did I say that I did. It would be kind of dumb to go back to find something that I already had, right?

I understand that English is not your first language, so that is okay.

Who knows? One thing is for sure. If the Ukraine military has such a difficult time defending this airport, they certainly do not have the ability to take back the rest of the country.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Billy, holding onto that facility for such a length of time is an accomplishment of monumental proportions.

The exact opposite of what you say is true: if it has taken this long for a much larger and better equipped force, surrounding the smaller group of Ukrainian defenders who had virtually run out of fuel, medical, food and ammo, then the Russian forces must be very pathetic indeed.

The Russian forces have heat at night; the Ukrainians had run out of fuel until a resupply group managed to get to them yesterday.

The Russian forces have hot meals as they surrounded a smaller group of hungry defenders. This is a small group of Ukrainian defenders holding off a supposedly professional, and larger, force.

The Russian forces receive constant resupply; the Ukrainians have been cut off for long stretches at a time.

Yet, the losses suffered by the Russian forces have been significant.

On Thursday the Ukrainian Army sent a drone over the area because they had lost regular communications. According to reports on Russian media, Kyiv and the Rebel commanders agreed to a 24-hour humanitarian corridor so that the Ukrainians can evacuate. However independent media sources say that the fighting continues.

Meanwhile the self-appointed Prime Minister of the region, Aleksandr Zakharchenko, says that he will fight for more Ukrainian territory: “We will go further, to Slovyansk, to Kramatorsk, and so on." That caused Germany to remind Moscow that if the airport was taken, Germany would view that as a violation of the cease fire and additional sanctions would be imposed.

However, late reports say that the Ukrainians have pinned down Russian fighters from Chechnya who are in one of the terminal buildings, and that Russian artillery was shelling the Chechen positions, likely unintentionally.
