Any statisticians out there wanna run these #'s and analyze them before closing this poll?

Was glad to see 47+ responses... Seems there is a "trend" of sorts IMO... :)

Have vote 10-15 year younger...

In reality, it is 10 year and 5 days  ;D

These age difference have afraid me in the beginning... but it seem that we have almost the same "mental" age... She is more mature and i am more childish  ::)

In case of very big age difference, physical incompatibility can appear... RW are very active in bedroom and you need to assume your man function... if you are old and need sleep around 10 hours day, with a young RW, you will stay in bed 24 hours on 24  :-*

In some way, the age difference problem is not only axed on the sex drive... very young lady ( 18-21 ) like to go out in disco, place where older guy don't feel specially confortable...

Just count year don't really give a good idea of compatibility... some old man feel young and some young woman feel more mature... age is irrelevant but mental age is more important in the building of a relationship... knowing your future partner is more important that knowing her birth date !!!

It sounds like you have been reading too much of Elena Petrovas garbage Bruno.  I keep hearing things like that.   First off, those who see the answers may note there is now one vote for "As old as Turboguy etc"   That was me, so if you want to read something into the fact I voted go ahead.

We were out to a disco last night and she wore out before me.  She spends an hour more in bed than I do in the morning, and if anyone has any problem keeping up it is her keeping up with me.  Yes, this one is older by a few years.  (Maybe 8)  We are still dealing with a difference of 28 years. I do think you made a good point that we all age differently and mental age is as important or more important than calendar age.

OK I'll toss my nickle in.

We met when Yulia was 22 and I was 47. That was almost 3 years ago and everything is going great. I thank God everyday. So I voted  You: 45-50 - Her: 20+ years younger

Bruno,  The Elena I was talking about is Elena from Elena's models.  She made a statement that is often quoted that goes something like.  "Imagine this, your young wife wants to go out to the disco every night till 4 am and you want to sit home and watch tv and go to bed early, that is why age differences don't work"

Personally I think what she says is a lot of bull.  If I met a gal who wanted to go out to the disco every night until 4 I would pass on her.  Not every young gal wants to go out to the disco every night and not every 45 year old wants to sit and watch TV and go to be early.  I just put what may be my next fiancee on the plane back to Russia.  We were out dancing the last two nights and she was ready to pack it in before I was.

I probably should post the story of this visit which was a little strange and see what kind of reaction I get.  I will likely do that sometime today or tomorrow.

I did not mean my comment as anything negative about you Bruno, mostly I was just critisizing Elenas oft quoted comment.

Right on, Turbo.  I have spent several months, over 6 meetings, with my 30 year old gf and we have NEVER gone to a disco...

Seems to me that a large number of women like to dance while the men that I see on the dance floor are there because either someone made them be there or they think that it is a good way to get laid. Dancing is not nor has it ever been for me. When I meet a lady who says  she likes to dance I think of somewhere quick that I needed to be and then I go there. How many men seem to enjoy dancing before they get married as opposed to those who still dance after they get married?

I have been dancing for 40 years with reasonable enthusiasm, some skill, and an innate sense of rhythm because 1) I liked dancing 2)  It definitely got me laid more than my wallflower mates of the time.  3)  It's cheaper than joining a gym.  It's true that my enthusiasm has wained of late as, while I can still 'do it', the music (and people) out there are mostly alien (much younger).

My present relationship with a UW is the first for decades not have started on the dance floor, that's obviously were I went wrong before!  Had to wait for the internet before life could start.  Bummer.  I was always shite with the smart opening chat-up lines which is why I let my feet (and other bits) do the initial talking.

This last New Year in Kyiv was the test for our future.  Went to O'Brien's. She was reluctant to dance at first, but she turned out to be great, good sense of rhythm and early indication of us being able to develop some great dance moves together.  10 years difference since you asked.  Did I go off topic?  Sorry.

happy to know that you somewhat agree with me, 55. I do know two things, some men enjoy dancing as much as I enjoy pro football. That is our passions. The other thing that I know is that the African people (the African tribal types) seem to love dancing as well. Every time that I see them on TV they are both happy and dancing. That is what I would call the good life.

I don't think there's a 'tribe' on earth that doesn't have some sort of dance culture, even us 'North Atlantic' white folks (I assume you are).  Indeed, in the UK, probably more than the US, because of the multicultural/multiracial mix, music and dance styles are pretty well the same for all now.  I first learned traditional English folk dance from my parents as a child, but in my mid-teens in the mid-60s was part of an intense UK/European youth culture that fell totally for black American Soul music and Motown.  Disco started then, not in the 70s.  40 years of bumping and grinding.  Phew!

About sport and dancing.  My wallflower mates all tended to be football fans and occasional players, and they didn't dance with ease.  Whereas I was rubbish at sport and not a great fan (except at World Cup time along with 40+ billion others, ie. now)  Can one only really enjoy one or the other?

I always liked to dance.  I liked it best when I was married.  When I stepped on her feet as I frequently did it gave me a chance to repay some of the pain she caused me.

My greatest dance partner was someone I had 'known' on and off for 15 years, and with whom I was in love, and then she went crazy and hurt me like I've never been hurt before, and that's how come I'm here.

Are we saying TG that dancing (especially with one regular women) is the devil's work, and only pain and heartbreak and broken toes will come of it?

I am not sure about the "Devils Work" part.  That would make me the devil.  Maybe just a little devilish.   You know you have 3 left feet when they give up the open toes shoes and the heels and trade them in for steel toes workboots when they go dancing with you.

It brings back memories of way back when,  when I started to write a few gals from what had then just recently been the USSR I used to be amused by some of the shoes I saw on the gals photos in those days.   They looked like steel toes safety workboots.  I had thought that perhaps my reputation as a dancer had preceded me and they were getting prepaired.   Nowadays a fashion model would be jealous of the footware.

Talk about how the world has changed.  The photos the gals sent in those days looked at best like passport photos.  The clothing looked more like army uniforms.  The hairstyles that were prevalent were more with the hair pulled into a bun behind the head and rather severe.   No one wore makeup.  The first outfit to have some (very few) photos of Russian gals also had what I would perhaps call a disclaimer that read something like this.   "The ladies from Russia are worth considering.  In the USSR times the girls were trained not to smile for photos so they do not appear to be very attractive but in real life some are quite pretty."  That approximate quote was in the Cherry Blossoms catalog of about 1993.

I can also remember how thrilled I was when I got my first letter from a gal in Russia.  She sent me a photo of her standing in front of the Kremlin wearing something like a long woollen army coat.  I showed that photo to a lot of people and everyone was amazed that you could actually write a gal from Russia.  Pretty unheard of in those days.

Don't know what this has to do with dancing.  Maybe if I would have quit stepping on girls feet I would have been married a long time ago.

Don't worry about going of topic about dancing.  It's not the topic!

Staying of topic (and why not), if I had been at this FSU-W malarkey since the early 90s and hadn't got it sorted, I think I'd do myself in!  Unless, of course, I was going back there again and again 'cos I liked it, and doing lots of dancing and getting laid regularly.  Back on 'not the topic', again.

Good job I appear to have it sorted first time out.  Had I been 10-15 years younger though, I may have been looking at it a different way.  Not so 'desperate' maybe, but then not so financially able.

OH, 55North thinks I should do my self in so this will be my last post.  I will go hunt for my magnum when I am done here.  If the text turns blood red, you know I couldn't wait.

I wrote my first gal in 1993 or so and made my first trip in 1996.  Biggest problem in those days was there was too many drop dead gorgeous gals to choose from.  Sorta like going into a store to buy a suit and they have 1000 to choose from in your size.  You can sit there forever and not get past the confused stage.  I don't think getting laid regular was in issue.  It was hard to travel in those days and hard to communicate (there was no internet)  Actually I think I did not get laid on any of my early trips.  Travel was harder.  There were no agencies that helped you get visas and talking to the embassy was nearly impossible.  If you flew domestically there you had to go to the Intourist office because they didn't want you mixing with the Russian Folk.  Reserving a hotel room was a nightmare.  My travel agent tried for 6 weeks to get me any kind of room in Moscow then threw up her hands.  I actually got confirmation that I had a Hotel room in Moscow as I was in transit at JFK airport.

If you could go back and change a few things I would.  Then I could be one of the old married folk that tells us all what idiots we are and is mostly right.  (they think always, I will give them mostly)

I guess that in the mid-90s when that I got wind of 'opportunities' in the East, I was enjoying my Latin and SE Asian period right here in my home city, so no need to travel.  Newcastle had just been rated as the world's 8th best 'party city' by a US business magazine no less, so I stayed at home and, well, partied.

I take my hat of to you for putting up with the inconveniences of the early 'pioneer, days.  I would have given up with the 1st visa application.  (Maybe that's why I do UA. not RU).  I also doubt if I could have stepped onto a plane at my local airport for a daily flight (1 transfer) to Moscow or Kyiv.

Speaking of which, I'm off to UA next week and am doing a little siteseeing with my UW.  Are there any particular budget hotel recommendations out there for Kharkiv, Odesa and Yalta?  Or advice on where NOT to stay?

I don't know if this will help you out or not.   http://www.travel2sevastopol.com/   I may be heading that general direction a week or two after you if I ever get around to buying my tickets.  I thought this site looked interesting for apartments.   My trip will likely be Kiev, Donetsk and Sevastapol and maybe Odessa.   Then a few weeks later I will be heading to Kazan and Rostov and possibly Etkatrinburg.  I think these may be my last scouting trips.

Thanks TG.  I think I've found appropriately priced hotels here http://ukraine-tours.com/hotels/ and it's an up to date list, as it appears to be a very efficient agency.  And each stay is only for 1/2 nights so hotels are the least hassle.

If you make Kyiv by July 1st, I'll stand you a drink in O'Brien's.

Hey Guys!

Bringing this poll back to life. Seems we have a great many new members since this poll was conducted - and the information is quite interesting.

If you have already voted, you cannot vote again - and if you have crossed one of the age ranges since the time the poll was open, no need to change it (unless you want to).

Quick Synopsis of the poll results - with 79 votes counted:

Age of Members voting:

60 + = 4
55-60 = 6
50-55 = 14
45-50 = 17
40-45 = 14
35-40 = 13
30-35 = 5
25-30 = 2
< 25  = 3

Number of Years the Wives are Younger:

20+ = 13
15-20 = 18
10-15 = 22
5-10 = 12
0-5 = 10

Other = 4

The one thing I noticed when looking closely at the data is - just as one would expect - as the age of the husband increases, the age difference between the couples increases. In other words, there are more 20+ age differences in the 50+ age range, than in the younger age brackets.

I suspect a sharp statistician might be able to draw some other 'conclusions' - although with such a small sampling, they would be suspect. Still - interesting information.

FWIW

Good to see this one coming back to life - Out of 2000+ members, one would hope for more than 79 votes this time around-

I think what I find most interesting, is the number of Men in the 30-35 range VERY low compared to those in their 40's - Am sure an "interesting" conclusion could be drawn there as well <smirk>

I wonder why the issue of age arises that often on this board...

Age is not quite an indicator for personality.

If the esteemed members would dare to post the photos showing themselves together with their significant one, that could be a better indicator of a match!
Da, da, Canada; Nyet, nyet, Soviet!
