It seems that you two fell in love by accident.  It's a very good story.  Usually you're telling jokes with a straight face, but this time you wrote something really from the heart.

A good deal of her friends are in cross cultural marriages as well, it's not uncommon in this area.In fact common enough that I  wouldn't be asked *why*, so I really doubt she is asked.

As far as would their conversations change?
Seems very  unlikely for several reasons.
1. She wouldn't befriend, or associate, with folks that thought oddly of her spouse.
2. As mentioned above, many have similar family situations so they's think nothing odd of it.
3. I understand enough Russian  , so they know  it would be dangerous to assume I dint understand  lol
