Well, why not ? I have been around here just a few months, but maybe some words about myself are in order.
Born in
1943 (reason for the 43 in my nickname, after posting my profile on websites where Sandro was already taken), on the
33rd day of the year, which also happens to be the first of the year's last
333 days (how's that for numerology ?), on the shores of Lake Maggiore because at the time my real hometown, Milan, was a favourite dumping ground for Allied bombs.
My avatar is the monogram of my initials (Franco Mario alesSandro Floriani) : the mouthful is the consequence of a law then in force which prohibited giving children a parent's name as their first name, hence the cumbersome sequence.
The damn lake seems to have a powerful hold on me : I got engaged to a girl in Milan, and one year later her family moved there (where I later got married and divorced).
This should mean I am supposed to kick my heels  there as well to complete the picture, and explains why I did not do so on Lake Como (different lake

) in 1984 at the end of my first (and last) float-plane flying lesson (the damn-fool instructor took the term
landing too literally and he descended on the shore, rather than the water

, with the Cessna a total loss). Also explains why I return to Lake Maggiore only when I cannot avoid it

.
Why FSUW ? First, family tradition (paternal grandmother, see my website for details on this and other personal and professional information {click the blue-green ball at left, is it supposed to represent the Earth's globe ?}), second, they
ARE pretty and third, they seem to find older men like me acceptable

(the list is not necessarily in order of importance).
I got here fortuitously, Googling for possible scam evidence on a FSUW I was in touch with and finding a cached reference to an old RWD post. Stayed since because I find the environment and (most of) the company agreeable, helpful, informative and interesting.
And the host is an endangered species (a gentleman)

.
My main contributions so far, other than flippant posts : have you ever wondered why some interesting pieces of information that you lazy-bones put in your posts, magically appear in the Wiki shortly thereafter
