I'm not religious at all but I always thought that having a Religion could potentially make dating easier especially since OP here is Orthodox Christian and most of the FSU is also then that should in theory be a big bonus. Kind of like having your own dating network already set up, each Orthodox church in the FSU a potential breeding ground of hot FSW to date.

OP if you are still knocking around and haven't got this sorted yet in your position I would forget about online dating sites and fly straight to Ukraine say and visit Orthodox Churches there one after another. Surely a way better idea than clicking buttons your mouse at home. You'll get it done a lot quicker and better that way I wager.

It's always has intrigued me how religion could be used in dating in the FSU. Most in the West I get the impression aren't Orthodox Christians, that's pretty unusual I would guess. Most I would guess are Protestants, Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, etc. I'm no expert on Religion being not into it myself but that is the impression I get.

So the big question, would it be worth considering changing Religion if finding no luck in your current Religion in your country?

After all is there really such a difference between Protestant, Catholic or Orthodox Christian religions. Yes there will be differences in them of course but they are all part of the same Christian Religion. All it takes is realising and deciding that yes you could worship your Religion in a different way. And by doing so you could reap better dating rewards in the FSU.

Myself I am not religious and I would likely get irritated sitting through all the blah, blah, blah of the preaching even if there was easy dating at hand (not needed for me at present). I would also feel pretty fake and phoney and I don't like that. Even still it would intrigue me to see how if a non religious person or person willing to change their religion to the Orthodox Religion how they would get on in the FSU by visiting Orthodox Churches.

Marriage is a long term thing, faking a religion is a pretty dumb idea to get a girl especially an FSUW, which
most aren't super religious. Running around to different Orthodox churches to hit on girls as a non religious
man is like going to a hundred gay bars to hit on men when you aren't gay. What happens when you catch
one?

Be who you are and what you are. Being a big lying phony is not going to work long term. Spending 3 hours
in church every Sunday in a language you don't understand plus fasting well over 100 days per year will get
tiresome for someone who is faking it. If you lived during the Spanish Inquisition, I would say fake until you
make it, but the majority of FSUW do not fast, although some do during Velikiy Post (Easter lent fast).

Adopt one of Krim's ideas, join a volunteer group to help out old babushka's in Ukraine. That should work
during the short term.

Never try to fake or lie in any situation if you want a long term relationship.

FSUW are not for entry level daters
FSUW don't do vague
FSUW like a man of action. Be a man of action
If you find a promising girl, get your butt on a plane.
There are a hundred ways to be successful and a thousand ways to f#ck it up
Just kiss the girl, don't ask her first. Tolerate NO excuses!

Surely if they are not super into being Orthodox Christian then it's less of an issue if you aren't either, you are just attending church like they are. I'm sorted for a girl at the moment but always just wondered. I'm not the sort of guy to want to be fake or phoney or be somewhere that I don't want be, generally church lol, but some guys may be less fussed.

Potentially, when setting down in the FSU it might be a way to get the job done quick without messing about with apps and online dating. I'm not all that up on the Orthodox faith or any other in terms of who can join in. I guess Google could tell me a bit more nowadays if I was bothered to Google, but if it's a case of just walk in before service begins and sit down somewhere while some dude bores on for a good while then maybe some guys reading here would be open to it. After all do you have to be really religious to partake or is anyone with a passing interest welcome?

Language could be a problem, having good command of Russian/Ukrainian could definitely make it easier. If not then I guess going to cities with a high proportion of English speakers may help. Myself I am glad that I am with someone who is not at all religious like me. However I can see how the Orthodox Churches could be a useful dating network just sat there ready to access.
