coup brewing?

Do you think it is wise to announce there will be a 'coup d'etat" next week?
I thought surprise was a key element!!!

As thought the second attempt to get civilians out of Mariupol turned out to be a non-starter.

I'm not so sure there will be a coup just yet, more discontent voices may be needed first and like LAman says the one allured to would now lack surprise.

Russian forces appear to be making progress from the West (Chernihiv/Kharkiv) towards Kyiv. It looks like they will get there in a about the next 24 hours. I don't know if the forces in the North were waiting for their arrival. Seems mighty strange that they have made progress across to Kyiv in the west but not in the North despite the longer distance. Whether they were more organized, met less resistance, less breakdowns, better logistics or just plain luck on their side who knows. Anyway, it would signify that things are finally coming to a head around Kyiv I reckon.

Heavy bombing in Irpin, by Russian planes it seems:

http://news.sky.com/story/ukraine-invasion-five-miles-away-from-kyiv-this-town-is-being-heavily-bombed-and-civilians-are-fleeing-however-they-can-12558943

Apparently the report tells us that any young men not in the military are now viewed suspiciously as many young men now are. In this article they automatically thought two young men were saboteurs just because they were not in the military.

They probably are always aware of the possibility.

Ukraine built BTR-4 APC destroying Russian equipment.  Cost $1.5M.
They had about 200 of these built since 2016.

I didn't understand anything about what was being shown.
Seems it was supposed to be about a drone, but . . .
BTR-4 - Wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › BTR-4

But it was the armoured carrier that was being blown up.
And it was built by Ukraine !! ??

So what's to celebrate?

The video apparently taken by a cellphone inside the Ukraine BTR-4 APC, which in less than a minute destroyed a Russian T-72 tank and a Russian BRM-1K APC.

This is a pipe dream.

But hopefully, the West will keep the half of Putin's 640 billion they have control of and use it to help Ukraine rebuild.

Otherwise, the West will have to furnish all the money to rebuild Ukraine.

Latest word is my wife's two condominium units in Kyiv (in different locations) are still intact but, of course, could go at any moment.

The renters in the less expensive unit fled to Western Ukraine on first days of the invasion.  The female family members and children living in the expensive unit near US Embassy are now in Ireland while her male relative remains with volunteer army.

Captured prisoner makes the usual claim about
"forced to fight...did not want to..."

At the same time, the prisoner's posts on social media indicate that he
is an ardent supporter of the "Russian measure" and was a member of
the paramilitary pro-Kremlin organization Young Republic.

In a similar vein, I am telling friends and locals here to not believe the words of local  resident Russians that they are against the invasion of Ukraine.

Some of these Russians gave a lot of hints in earlier years after Crimea that they fully supported what Putin was doing.

Now, of course, they are fearful of saying such things . . . but you can be sure they are cheering Putin on when they are in the safety of their own homes here in USA.

Similarly, I am outraged that the local University's Student run Newspaper is publishing articles saying we need to give comfort to both the Ukrainian and Russian students who are attending.

To be fair there were 3000 Russians protesting against the war in Prague over the weekend...and they were VERY vociferous and uncomplimentary toward Putin. They weren't wearing masks either, even though EuroNews was filming the protest.

Roman Abramovich's daughter came out against the war and Putin on social media very early in the conflict.

I saw two Russian women in their twenties say on camera in Moscow that for the first time in their lives they felt ashamed to be Russian.

Another young Russian guy in Moscow was clearly distraught at the invasion and said that he hoped that one day Ukraine would forgive Russia for what they've done.

More than 3,500 people in Russia were arrested for protesting against the war...which put them at risk of getting eight year prison sentences.

There are decent Russians out there..they're not all scum.

Just saying it like it is.

who said, the Russian Army wasn't "Impressive", huh?

BTW, stealth mobilization is happening in oblasts that are mainly in the provinces
and not Moscva....
malchicky can hide in plain sight in Moscva without being "Impressed"

ya'll in unfriendly countries should buy Iodine tablets NOW
cuz, they'll be gone FAST when IT happens
ya feel me?

the same US military leaders who setup the refugee centers in Poland BEFORE the invasion started
are NOW sending Nerve Gas antitodes to Ukraine
you can also use atropine at night to give you AMAZING night vision ( I did it all the time back when I was a young/foolish soldier!)
but in daytime you'd be blinded even on a cloudy day if you took atropine
ahhh - good times!

The current status according to Girkin and friend:
http://telemetr.me/content/strelkovii

"Russian departments act inconsistently, no one has clear instructions on what to do. The FSB doesn't know about the army, the army doesn't know about the FSB. Not even the military agreed. Mess...  The army itself is a terrible mess. The commanders are talking through Ukrainian SIM cards, no one understands anything, decisions are spontaneous. Logistics is a fat three with a minus. Everything rests on the junior officers in the field...  The three main scourges of this war are no sensible bosses, no logistics, and no clear answer to the question 'why?' "

"In general, the offensive of the RF Armed Forces has finally stalled in the Donbass. The continuation of attacks by the forces of the Donetsk infantry sometimes brings minor local successes.  With the regrouping of the RF Armed Forces, much is not clear. In one and a half to two weeks everything will turn green, it will be even more difficult to attack. The time to try to turn the tide of hostilities is running out."

So my girl's town is occupied - they are near Kherson region. There are Russian soldiers there on patrols but they still have bus system and some infrastructure working. Food variety is scarce, only Russian television is broadcast and internet is slow and works sporadically.

I've been traveling to Turkey and Amsterdam and have met a number of Ukrainians there too.  Millions of Ukrainians dispersed all over Europe. Honestly I've been a number of entitled Ukrainians who demand better help from what they are getting. But I guess they were given a shitty hand.  Some locals are resenting the influx.

"Shoigu in intensive care with a heart attack"
The heart attack itself, according to rumors, could not have been caused by natural causes.
...mass arrests among the top military leaders of the occupying state. In particular, at least 20 staff generals have been reportedly detained on charges of embezzling funds from the army, leading to the devastating collapse of Russia's blitzkrieg in the war against Ukraine.
