Olga,
We may be having a communication gap here, but I disagree with you.  A person may change their language, culture and looks, but the essence of the person will not vary too much from who they are.  It would be a great at tragedy in my mind if Lena's Russian soul was ever lost and I don't think it ever will.

KenC,
I agree with you. It will be great tragedy for all man in the world  :) if Russian woman lost her Russian soul  :)
But it is not impossible :) Nobody and never can change her mind and soul if she doesn't want it.
She can adapt to other culture but she always will be Russian woman. It is her genetic code  :) She absorbs century Russian traditions, great history and psychology of people with milk of mother. It always will be in her at a subconscious level.

Get ready to hear every soviet BS propaganda excuse why it is more healthy to sweat your balls off rather than run the air!
Guess it was a good thing that Lil arrived inn sunny South FL on August 26, to 94f temps w/ 95% humidity  ;D. Never got too much argument about cranking up the A/C, and she typically likes the house colder than I do  ;). During our 2-3 weeks of "winter" though, she'll proudly blast the heat until it's summertime warm indoors
*shrugs* I just chalked it up to the old Russian idea that they usually want exactly the opposite of what they have <--he said jokingly  :-*

I have had none of the thermostat wars that people here describe.  My wife seems to have a pretty good handle onthe A/C and thermostat thing.  We live in a building where all the apartments are heated bu one big unit pumping heated water through radiators in each unit, so there is no way to adjust the temperature except by opening and closing windows, but they seem to keep it at a very comfortable level, so it hasn't been a problem.  In the summer we have our own air conditioning unit and my wife is very good about conserving energy by allowing a breeze to blow through our upper story apartment.  Of course another thing she does when it gets a little warm is to walk around the apartment in only bra and panties, so bring on the summer!

What?  Conserve energy?  Scott, my man....AC is made to be used, to keep us cool!

Like I said earlier, you now talk like a UW; guess you have lived there long enough  ;D LOL

My wife is now a strong advocate of A/C.  When the old unit failed and we needed to buy a new one, she asked how big was it?  I said it was a 3 ton unit, she suggested we replace with a 5 ton model.  To her way of thinking, bigger is definitely better.

... she suggested we replace with a 5 ton model.
Two other mysteries unveiled :

1. Who's really responsible for the US consuming 25% of the world's energy.
2. Why JB is currently pounding the hapless Kansas soil (and snow).

Immigrant FSUW !!!

This also puts the IMBRA legislation under the totally different light of a laudable energy-conservation initiative ;D.

OMG, the AC thing was a cultural thing too?!!  J constantly had the windows open and turned off the AC in Mexico.  It would be easily mid 80s in the room and the floor was so humid I was slipping on the dammed marble... I thought she was strange, but nope just Russian apparently!

It was fun to sneak the temp down a degree everytime i got in the room.  I would blame the maids when I got caught.  This cycle of hot down to very warm went on the whole time.
