Six and a half years and still going strong!
« on: March 28, 2007, 06:19:46 PM »
Hello everyone!

I used to be a regular poster on Planet Love, but the whole marriage thing seems to take all my time now.  Marina and I have been married for about 6 1/2 years now and have lived in Iowa, California, and back in Iowa again.

For those who don't go that far back, here's our general details:
* Marina is Ukrainian
* She came over on K1 visa, in July 2000
* She's 26, I just hit 43

Marina has settled in remarkably well.  She is currently pursuing a modeling career and was selected as 93x.com 's "Hot Chick of the Day" today (March 28th).  She finally got her page up on Maxim's "Hometown Hotties" contest today.  If any of you would like to cast a vote, you can do so at the following link:

http://www.maximonline.com/hotties/profile_2007.aspx?id=22863&gallery_week=5
(yes, it's a blatant plug, but I'm shameless :-) )

If you'd like to see one of her online portfolios, here is a link:
http://www.kindindustries.com/myProfile.php?UID=9598

For only being in the business half a year, she's already starting to make some waves out there.  I'm very proud of her.

Well, I've got to go.  Marina is tapping her toe and it's time for me to say "Yes, Dear" and get back to my "Honey Do's".  :-)

John K Nice to read about a success story.  (All aspects of success) Hopefully you will continue to join in here and push a bit of your experience onto those of us who have and wish to learn much from you guys who have been through it all.

Your "Honey Do" list, has translated for mine and I into "Darling maybe WE should do" which actually means "I/O, I want YOU to do asap".  BTW, she ain't even here permanently yet. :whew:

I have scanned and uploaded a pic of the two of us at the following URL:
http://www.marinascosmetics.com/us/M-and-J.jpg

I allow my wife to follow her dreams.  Marina has always wanted to be a model, so when she committed to doing it, I gave her my full support.  She has done remarkably well for just starting out, and I am very proud of her.

Do I think it's an honor?  Why not?  Should I be ashamed that I have a beautiful wife?  Should I be ashamed that my wife is a model?  Should I be ashamed that she is good at it?  Should I be ashamed that she works out for hours each day to be in the best shape to shoot in?

Or are you more concerned with the pictures themselves?  If so, what is wrong with them?  Marina is comfortable with these shots and I am too.  They are shot by some very talented photographers.  We have complete trust in each other, which gives us the freedom to "push the envelope" as far as people's perceptions go.

Perhaps it doesn't fit in some people's view of "what's right", but I quit worrying about what people thought over a decade ago.  Opinions are like rear orifices: everybody has one and they usually stink (mine included) ;-).  I *am* proud of my wife's work, and I stand behind her 100%.

Well some people go to the moon, explore the nature, discover new lands and they are silent about their achievements

before this one , it was my photo avatar , but I am not a model and will never be it, cos it requires a special soul, soul who is sleeping for ages

all the women are beautiful on their own way , I consider  all women to be models and it is just so mean that they use it to earn money and speculate about this kinda thing

Do not you think that people  are  all beautiful ?

There are of course some men and women who are a little more bright

but that does not give them any advantage you know,

sometimes there are  normal random people and they are convinced to be absolutely terrific and they are blind to think themselves so so stunning, so they want to become models , which is funny to my mind , cos that is just a personal narcissism

Once again inside beauty means much more than outside one

speaking about model career ( not discussing is it good or bad) is not 26 some "old" for starting in this business ( to make it's exactly career but not some sort of "hobby" to satisfy "ego"?

hey Wiz

think what you think

just you all strive for models , why do not you suit them then?

why do not you have them? usually men who have model wives keep it in secret or reveal it sometimes when people ask them straight then yes they tell

why you admire models but ask to sweet the floor in your house normal random woman?

why do not you ask model to wash your dishes and then to admire how she has done that?

Older than most, but not out of the question  ;). The famous Cindy Crawford started at 16 and it was decided she was *too old* when she was 34. She now designs and sells children's furniture (at the old age of 41) ;D

One more point - she started having plastic surgery done at age of 29 to extend career those extra 6 years  :toocool:

Not everybody can afford a 'model'. Along with those model looks comes 'high maintnence'. Me I'm a low maintanence kinda guy, but I still got a hot babe!!! :couple:
I figure to each there own, if your pockets are deep enough, go for it. But I still figure whats on the inside is more important & all that beauty don't last forever unless you got reeeeeaaaal deep pockets! Plastic surgery ain't cheap & vanity will win out over wrinkles every time!

I'm always glad to read of another success story, six+ years and still going strong should be a beacon of hope for the freshmen out there, certainly it is not something to denigrate simply because of the woman's choice of professions.  That she is enjoying some success should be celebrated, not scorned.

My wife and I haven't been married quite so long, yet I'm every bit as proud of her accomplishments.

JohnK,
Nice to hear from you!  I remember the ol days on PL and the many interesting posts from you.  I am happy to hear that everything is going well for you two.

My wife Lena actually sent her photo into Maxim for the first "Hometown Hotties" contest years ago and had it published in a subsequent issue.  A rather Conservative shot in a one piece swimsuit no less.  She and her family got a big kick out of it regardless.  I have noticed that the contest photos keep getting more and more racy as the years go by.

You are a wise man to encourage your wife's dreams.  Best of luck to you.

And just who the hell do you think you are to make such a judgement?  All beautiful people have "sleeping souls?"  Get real!

Obviously not.  The standards for "beautiful" in regard to advertising are very high and most people do not meet the standards.  Deal with it!

Boy, you sure do jump to conclusions based on nothing.  No where does JohnK make any statements that would lead anyone to make such a conclusion.  Your comments tell more about your own insecurities than anything else.

Funny, you should quote the ugly or fat woman's mantra here.  You really do need to work on your self esteem girl.
