Ed,

The fact that another member here once held the same opinion as you do is not the issue. In point of fact, in that topic you reference, there were a great many statistics offered which served to counter that one opinion.

Yours is a different matter. You are a business owner with a commercial website. Presumably, you are in business to generate revenues and profits. You seek to attract customers with the rhetoric which is displayed on your site - AND - you cite "statistics" in at least one of your claims.

When asked to produce "those statistics", you cannot. When asked to address legitimate statistics from three separate sources - all of which debunk the claims made on your site - you claim you were "crucified." When asked if you will change your site to reflect what you've learned, you insist on keeping your cited "statistics" as they are because you have a video which proves them.

Ed, you can keep digging - but I think the hole you've dug is deep enough. JMHO

Dan,
So let me get this straight: you actually honestly believe that there is an equal or almost equal number of marriage minded men and women in FSU of the marriage age?
and the second part of the question: why are there so many single beautiful women there and what is the reason that many will mary WM?

Eduard,

To be clear, I am not the one making claims. You are making those - in your commercial site where you seek to draw new customers when they read your claims.

Now, as to my personal opinions - I have never bought into the notion of a gross disparity between numbers of men and women. The statistics in this topic would seem to agree.

As for the reasons women are willing to marry a foreign man - I can think of several:

* sense of adventure
* brainwashing by too many Hollywood soap operas
* warmer climate

There are a million reasons Eduard.

I agree that the 8 to 1 ratio is way too high. However, there are regional variations as well. Some cities, usually regional capitals with universities, will have higher proportions of young women, while certain villages and industrial cities, will have many more men than women. The city where I met my wife, is often called by the locals a "city of brides" because the women believe there is a disproportionate number of single women as compared to the men.

Dan,
I didn't come up with those numbers on my own. I actually found them doing research. I never thought to save the source since never thought that someone would make such an issue of it. My personal experience supports that number. On the other hand the stats that Billy sited, even though they are 10 years old they still don't really make sense to me. According to those  there is only a million, fifty thousand men age 27 in the country of 143 million people and even more unbelievable - less than a million women age 27.

You are basically telling any reasonable WM to stay the hell away from Russian women, because the ones that will consider marrying you are complete airheads! If any of you WM live in Canada - you have no chance marrying a RW since they are looking for "warmer climate! Sense of adventure??? Hollywood brainwashing??? Are these the women WM want to marry???
Are you married to a RW? Did she marry you for one of those reasons? I know that my wife married me because she couldn't find an honest, non-cheating, family oriented guy who wanted to have a family and children and build a future together in Russia. She was a very serious, career minded person, a dentist at 24 y.o. with 7 years of school behind her, a large close knit family which she misses terribly. Finding someone from the USA was the furthest thing from her mind. She is a pretty girl, and didn't lack male attention, but the guys that she dated were cheaters, players and liers with no serious intentions. She on the other hand was ready to start a family. Then I found her on a local russian dating site. She actually didn't even have a photo there. many pretty girls don't put their photos on profile to fend off adventure seekers who only look at a pretty picture and mail you all kinds of nonsense. I read her profile and decided to write her because what she wrote really touched me!
once we figured out that we have the same values, goals and ideas we decided that we should meet, the rest is history.
I'm not going to go into all the details here, but does this sound like my wife was looking for "an adventure" or watched too many "Hollywood movies"?
Come on now Dan, you could do better than that...

Ivanovo I guess ;-) by the way Ivanovo is an industrial city...but the factories there employ mostly women because of the nature of what they produce.

Eduard when you are surprised at the availability of women, check out how many RW are actually seeking and marrying a foreign husband. The actual number might be far below the number of surplus of the women.  In any case you will see that the majority of RW can and do find a RM too marry. The ones that are left either are 'too pretty', or otherwise having issues that keeps them from finding a local man.

As for your video, I challenge you to make one in the center of your home town at the same time and day of the week and come up with a different result in male/female ratio. I know that when I look outside I might get the same impression of an abundance of females in my city.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

As for running a few hours of film and then claiming all knowledge based on that, well....................... Ed you can pull that on in any city from central Europe to Vladivostok and get the same result with a little timing. I'll cite eight cities as simple examples. (I could cite a lot more from personal observation)  Bucharest, Ufa, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Kishinev, Odessa, Moscow.

Go to the parks in the summer afternoons/evenings and yes you could be suckered into believing your claims. Hundreds or women, some with children and few men. OK, bingo, I'm on a winner here.................not quite, look a little closer and look at the number of wedding rings and that chops a large hole in the choices. So we be a touch smart and we wait and observe for a couple of hours. What we then see is the guys who have now finished work starting to drift in and meet with their lovelies, wife's, girlfriends or whatever. Then and only then do we see some of what is left over.

Ed, stop peddling BS that you can't substantiate, some of us have been around the FSU a bit also. I think it was Billy who said 1:1, I would say that's stretching it a touch, BUT it is a helluva lot closer to the mark than 8:1. You are making yourself look a fool trying to peddle that nonsense. Even Elena (Elena's models) who is certainly a salesperson if ever there was one, claimed some time back 88:-:100 and admitted that was changing fast.

I suggest you play in facts rather than fiction if you want to gain traction with even the least discerning audience.

Don't forget a good number of men that work outside the city where his family lives.  They might be away weeks, months or even years.

I have a question regarding male/female ratios maybe someone can answer.  Ivanhoe, Tver and Nicklov have all touted their cities as "City of Brides" and boast of an enormous amount of females to males.  It has been explained by the presence of Universities in each city.  My question is: Don't males also attend the universities?

This only 'took-off' because I asked you to cite your source. One might presume; (a) that if you claim something is the result of "those statistics", then you would have them available to cite, and (b) if you found them once, you should be able to find them again.

BTW - how long ago was it that you conducted the "research"?

>>Come on now Dan, you could do better than that...<<

Yes, I could - and can. I was tired and needed some rest, so admittedly, I didn't bother too much with my reply to that question - particularly given all that had been exchanged prior. I threw up a flip reply to make a point.

>>You are basically telling any reasonable WM to stay the hell away from Russian women, because the ones that will consider marrying you are complete airheads!<<

No, you did not see those words come from this keyboard.

What I also wrote was: "There are a million reasons Eduard" - and there are.

In some villages and towns, the young men stay with their families to help with the work, while the daughters have the privilege of leaving to go to university. Also, to get a free education, the boys have to pass entrance exams and the ones who don't make the cut risk being drafted and spending a couple of years in the army. Also, in university towns it is usually easier for young women to get jobs once they graduate: they are willing to work in stores and in other types of jobs that are seen as women's work, while young men may not be able to find the type of jobs they want. So you end up with an imbalance: some regions have thousands of young men who can't find wives, because the young women went to university, liked the city and aren't willing to come back. The young men can't follow, because they won't be able to afford to buy an apartment and may not be able to find a good job.

KenC, don't you read, they are all busy drinking and abusing their women folk. Much too busy to study, although my Mrs suggests that you may find a higher ratio of men in the technical universities and colleges. She cites her cousin in technical Uni, (A particular faculty) 1 woman in a group of 25 men studying.

EVIDENCE SUPPORTING EDUARD
« Reply #312 on: January 28, 2008, 08:25:23 AM »
Eduard,

I HAVE MORE PROOF TO SUPPORT YOUR CLAIM OF 8:1

I have evidence that is just as valid as your video clip. The evidence was given to me by my Moscow fiancée when I questioned her statement that there are more women than men.

She explained how she was in center city recently and had to use the toilet.  Eduard, you are Russian, so you know that public toilets are rare.  She went to McDonalds.  The queue for the women’s toilet went out of McDonalds to the sidewalk.  The men’s toilet had no queue.  Her words, “See, many more women than men.”

You should not use a 8:1 ratio as factual, especially given corroborated statistics reporting the expected 1:1.   What you could say, however, is what my Moscow fiancée has always told me, “It is difficult for me and my few single friends to meet RM who would make possible husbands.”  Her attempts at meeting men:

-   Friends of married friends (i. e., arranged blind dates)

-   Random meetings when going out (e. g., shopping, sport club, etc.; she did not go to clubs)

-   Russian Internet dating sites

She met, encountered and communicated with plenty of men.  Most simply did not appeal to her because of personality and appearance (more than physical looks).  She would discover that most of the acceptable men were already married, were obvious players, or did not seem to be able to provide for a family.  The few men not eliminated by the above are potential husband material, yet most were not interested in her because she has two children.

So in her case she felt like the odds were 8:1.  But don’t use that ratio in your sales pitch - any man with half a brain will question your credibility.

Here are some ironclad statistics that may explain the position taken by the OP.

49.9% of people are below average.

78.35% of statistics are made up on the spot.

I can attest to the fact that there are definitely many more women attending one of the universities in Lugansk, UA. I have a friend that teaches there, and I usually visit her there.  Seems like an 8:1 or higher ratio of women to men at that campus. However, in the city itself, more like a 1:1 ratio. Depends on where you look. Just because there is an 8:1 ratio at the University doesn't mean they are desperately looking for WM. Many of the men work in the mining or steel industry because of the higher pay over their professional counterparts.

I did agree that 1:8 is not nessaccerally the ratio of the body count but more of the actually available, marriage minded men to women ratio in some areas in Russia. Yes there are many single guys trolling russian dating sites, hooking up with different girls every week if not every day, making RWs sick and tired of the dating game often removing their profile and giving up on the whole idea of finding a decent guy! Even if the statistic of 1:1 of age 25 was right, which I think is definitly not, how many 25 year old men do you think are ready, able and available for marriage? How about 26 y.o.? 27? 1 in 20 maybe? many RW will put in their profile "no boys under 27yo or under 30", depending on a woman's age. So in reality marriage minded girls ages 24 to 30 have to compete with women in their 30s for the same guys who only become marriage minded in their 30s as well. So what is the ratio of available men to women if you take that into consideration? I don't think that anyone can come up with the exact number. But I maintain that the fact is that there are A LOT more available, marriage minded women than men, and this is the only reason it is possible for older WM find and marry beautiful younger RW. WM can't find that where they live, and RW can't find a decent marriage minded man where they live. If this wasn't the case then why for example American men wouldn't be travelling to, say Italy to find a younger, beautiful girl? There are plenty of beautiful women in Italy...but maybe the numbers are slightly different than in Russia?
Economic reasons might be possible in some cases, particularly with women in Ukraine (which by the way should be a red flag for any WM) but RW from Russia are not starving, they might not have as much as their American counterparts, but they live a relatively comfortable life nowdays and have all the neccessaties. They are different from young American women in a major way though, because the culture of "hooking up" hasn't hit youn RW in a mojor way the way it did here in the US. And most young RW age 24 and up are dreaming of finding a good guy to create a family with. But I still say that their choices of available and able men are extreemely limited. Maybe it's not 1:8...
maybe it's 1:10? maybe 1:5  but realy what's the difference? The fact remains that there are plenty RW to choose from for both Russian men and WM.

On the other hand the stats that Billy sited, even though they are 10 years old they still don't really make sense to me. According to those  there is only a million, fifty thousand men age 27 in the country of 143 million people and even more unbelievable - less than a million women age 27.

Ed, I have not seen a site that provides such detail pertaining to the amount of male/females per each age. You don't have to say things are unbeleivable. If you want to know the truth, add up each age group of men and women and the total is 146,327,571 which is close to your 143 million. The study added it up for you, all you need to do is read and open your mind to believe. Men 35 and under outnumber women at every age. Women 36 and over outnumber men at every age. I know this new revelation may hurt your sales pitch but isn't it important to speak the truth? There's no doubt in my mind it's true that millions of Russian women are open to marrying a foreign man and that you can use for a sales pitch.

Here's the study again.

Might it be the concentration of females to males in particular areas?  As my earlier post asked about certain university cities, could it be in those areas that the ratios are skewed?  I know Lena always maintained that there were a lot more women in Tver than men because of the university located there.  She said that once the young men served their military time, they rarely returned to Tver.  She also sited the idea of the young men leaving Tver to stake their fortunes in Moscow.

Even if the overall figures show a close to 1:1 ratio, there could be pockets (geographically speaking) where the ratio (for that secific area) is out of whack one way or the other.  Just a thought.

To postpone my draft call, in the mid 1960s I enrolled at the faculty of Foreign Languages & Literatures at Bocconi, Milan's best private university, where the M/F ratio was something like 1:80 :o.

It was a classic destination for the daughters of Milan's wealthy families ("You're going to marry a man of your class or better, don't bother with complicated studies, languages may be of help when you'll travel abroad with your future husband").

I could not take advantage of the situation since I was also working at the time :(. Anyway, they closed down the faculty after a few years (not enough wealthy daughters left, maybe ;)), and I completed my studies elsewhere.

I have yet to see any post by eduard where he is either not promoting his services or dsagreeing with any posts that might suggest that any other way could be better.  This current thread where he stubbornly defends hyoperbolic statistics despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary shows a mindset that I certainly wouldn't want interpreting or making decisions for me on a trip to the FSU.  It seems once he decides something he will twist the truth in any way to support his view or his agenda.  I don't see this as providing an objective source of information about someone I might be courting.

I will say that his "feet in cement" attitude confirms his Russian heritage.  Many here have noted this attribute in our FSUW, that stubborn refusal to concede any point despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

eduard, if you were looking at this site as a way to promote your business, I think you made a gross error.  I don't think anyone here would recommend you and in facdt would actively recommend against your services.  Maybe best for you to go back to other forums where you can continue to mislead the disinformed.  We just have too much collective experience and wisdom here to fall for your claims.

Since Dan have ask it, some population statistic...

First, about Ukraine, by oblast... click the oblast name for more detail... ratio male/female

http://www.ukrcensus.gov.ua/eng/results/general/sex/

More interesting... related to married/single ...

http://www.ukrcensus.gov.ua/eng/results/general/marry/

Now, for Russia... ratio male/female...

I know Lena always maintained that there were a lot more women in Tver than men because of the university located there.  She said that once the young men served their military time, they rarely returned to Tver.  She also sited the idea of the young men leaving Tver to stake their fortunes in Moscow.

By surfing the site from the Russian census ( in Russian ), you can find some interesting information...

First, download the file at http://www.perepis2002.ru/ct/doc/02-02_new.zip ( zipped XLS file )... open it and go to the line 1415...

It show the following data for Tver :
General ratio for Tver : 1.222
Ratio 15-19 yo : 0.982 ( more men )
Ratio 20-24 yo : 0.997
Ratio 25-29 yo :1.002 ( more woman : on 2002 people, you have 1000 men for 1002 women )
Ratio 30-34 yo : 1.046
Ratio 35-39 yo : 1.065
Ratio 40-44 yo : 1.077

No really a big difference between women and men in Tver but...
Ratio 60-64 yo : 1.549
Ratio 65-69 yo : 1.664
Ratio 70-74 yo : 2.122
Ratio 75-79 yo : 3.032
Ratio 80-84 yo : 4.431
Ratio +85 yo : 6.583

So, Tver is not the "city of Bride" but more the "city of Babouska"

For other oblast, take a look at

http://www.perepis2002.ru/ct/doc/English/1-8.xls

A 2005 age graph, seem that below 39 y.o., the ratio male/female is almost 1/1

Scott,
luckily there are members here that see the validity to both my opinion and my services. They send me private messages and some contacted me through my site.
I'm not stubborn and if someone showed me a reliable statistic that would contradict what is so obvious to most reasonable people (I'm referring to the fact that there are many more available, marriage minded women in Russian than men) I would definitely review my position. But what was shown to me didn't convince me at all. The source of it was not known and as someone pointed out earlier anyone with an agenda to push can come up with their own statistic and market their version of "truth" as if it was written in stone.
I'm not set on 1:8 ratio. I read that info a couple of years ago somewhere and according to my own experience it made a lot of sense. Billy's statistic of 1:1 doesn't sound right to anyone who spent considerable amount of time in Russia, furthermore there is no way to confirm how accurate that stat is and in addition it is 10 years old! Actually even older since knowing how things work in Russia it took them several years to calculate and get it published in 1999. For all I know that could be the result of a census done in 1990 before hundreds of thousands of young Russian men got killed!
So rather than insulting all the Russians calling us stubborn do some homework and come up with a reliable source that will give accurate numbers and preferably that was done in this century.

Bruno, thanks for providing government stats. This seems to be a legitimate source.
I do have a question though: where are all those men??? Why are there so many available women there? I don't think I'm the only one seeing that!
It's an honest question since I am trully puzzled by these statistics.

Read the previous post before write something...

My source are the last census in Russia and Ukraine... data after 2000....

I have not seek the russian cansus about "marriage minded women" but i have give a link to data from Ukraine... who show that same if you have a little more men that women, you have more women who are married/living-together that men... only after 39 y.o., you have more women free that men, due to the widowed one !!!

PS: they are russian and ukrainian statistic... and i have no agenda at the reverse of yourself !

Which means you'll amend YOURS when you finally have an answer ?

P.S.: no business interests even remotely conflicting with yours ;).
