RW what do you think of this guy??
« on: May 24, 2008, 10:40:20 AM »
I don't think only television shows perpetrate the myth this is the type of men who go to Russia for wives. But agencies do also. It's as though they are trying to say RW are so desperate for a husband, any gum chewing ,pompadour hair, out of shape hick can go there and be picky.

Couldn't they have gotten a classy guy to follow? :wallbash:

Why would agencies show any quality guys. First, the number of quality guys that jump onto a romance tour are very few. Second, the agencies want you to think that their doofus clients are successful so that another wave of the lower quality guys will think that they have a shot. . .

mspanky, this is just a commercial.
They could take a classier guy but I guess they just want to show an average Anerican.
The girls are Moscovites and they will judge like Moscovites.
He is ok

He is average among those who come to Russia on this purpose.
 Do we know his background?
Sometimes he didn't act totally   esthetically right  but hey- he was in quite an unusual situation. Him, the girls, the interpreter and video.
There is nothing terrible in him if he is a nice caring funny man. He can make one of the best husbands, how do you know?

There's videos on youtube about this guy and his tales. He goes with his Russian bud who acts as a translator. Do a search for getrussianwife on youtube, you should be able to locate all his six vids. Shows his adventures.

I don't see anything terrible in him.
Hehe I had a date with an AM - you would pass away if you only see him!
Totally different from the picture - a walking horror  :D I barely survived this date.

I have seen all six videos about this guy John.

The sad thing for me is that despite he has some good natural features, I mean the bone structure, height, face features, however his overall manner to behave and after all his manner to dress destroys all his natural gifts.

In the first movie, he is shown wearing very wide cotton shirt and wide knie-long shorts - the kind of dress that would not flatter anyone, and would provide less than good impression about a person in general. A bit tighter dark t-shirt that he is wearing in Part 2 looks better.

When I saw John's face full time, I spotted his cute cheek dimples that are rare in men and would add charm to almost any human face. Nice lips and good hair also.

However, it is obvious that the guy does not take pride in his looks and behavior. The sight of his body almost made me cry.  :'( What a sharp contrast with the women's body that he is meeting! he just looks pathetic on their side  :-[  Hard to tell whether an intersive workout would do good to John, but who knows.

His less than good manner to carry himself is also apparent. He would probably need to watch his posture and walking. Watching John talking made me guess that his education is probably poor  :(  although I may be wrong.

To sum up, I'd say that John would probably need to work on his physical assets in order to bring to the table something more than his passport.

  Lilly,

You pointed out much of what I thought. But I'm surprised noone made a comment about the fact he always had a wad of gum in his mouth no matter what. I thought that really showed a lack of class. To me a person who'se always chewing gum usually means they are trying to hide mouth odors. It was pretty sad.

I thought it pathetic when he talked on camera about the girl he slept with the night before. It was implied it was the girl with short hair on the 1st date. I wonder why the agency owner would film that. It seems such a lack of respect.

It's been awhile since I watched these videos.  He seemed like a sincere guy to me.  I had the impression he was fairly normal and probably has some kind of decent middle-class job.

However, the way he dressed was absolutely horrible.  It was bad even by American standards.  I wanted to smack him across the face with a wet fish.

He could also benefit by a few hours a week at gym.

All in all, I've seen much worse examples of men trolling for girls in the FSU.

Really I did not notice the gum.. ::) I see many people with a wad of gum in their mouths, perhaps I get used to watching people chewing all the way. :)

To get rid of a gum is much easier than to get rid of many other things.

I have been living among the Americans for more than 6 years and I'll  tell you ,Lilly, he is a typical average American guy. And yes he is  cute.
His weight, his manner to dress is typical for a certain social group.
He is not like top executive for sure - just a normal guy from any state.
Why would he " watch his posture and walking"? He looks, walks and talks like thousands and thousands of Americans.
We know nothing about his job and stuff so ...

I don't think so.
He needs to have some work out as 80%  of Americans do. I am not sure of the  percentage :D

It is warm here already and men wear these shorts and shirts everywhere.
It is comfortable and kinda in style  :D They don't bother to provide a better impression because the personality is what that counts.
Guys you need to see my husband (to-be) when he first came to meet me in Moscow! For me he looked trashy  :D :D and he was an IT director of a big company! Old snickers, old shorts, old T-shirts. So what? He was just a bachelor on vacations who didn't care a lot how he looked. Good education, very good money, nice personality - this is what is important.

Essentially agree. However, people may never learn how great your personality is if you don't bother to make a good impression ;)

He doesn't respect women.Remember he pointed his camera on girls' legs all the time? And the comments? It is just a meat market show.

This guy looks like a typical Russian slob, and I won't believe a dude who's lived 30 years in the States will have such poor command of the English accent and intonations.  I bet you people this is Fat Yuri himself, take a good look!  :P

Ladies, we are discussing the portrayed man, not the man behind the camera, aren't we?

As for the camera focuses: the cameraman showed John's naked upper body for quite a time. No comments his end though :( Would that be considered an American meat market show? ;)

Lilly is on point. There is no excuse for a man to dress this way bachelor or not. It's as though AM think they have the green light to dress like slobs even if we can afford better. We are not children, but grown men. I take pride in my appearance as it is the first impression in anything. Business or socially. I also go to the gym. My parents instilled in us a man could not go out looking like a slob nor a woman a prostitute and expect to get respect because we are good people. You project who you are through manners ,pride, posture and confidence. People do judge by the way we appear and this unfortunately is part of society.

These men same wlll complain about AW . But honestly, top pier or even middle pier AW will never date a man like him. Not because  he's not rich. But because he projects himself as a man with low self esteem and no pride in appearance. I dare say RW and many FW I know even many Foreign men with little money put pride in their looks. There are no excuses for this man.

And chewing gum like a cow makes it worse. Makes me think he is used to it and has a job where he's allowed to walk around chewing big wads of gum or a tobacco chewer.

I took him as a real man who he is. He is no good for a movie star but quite typical for the US (whatever mspanky says).
I am married to a man who strongly believes what nobody cares how he looks , what counts is his skills and personal qualities. There is quite a strict dress code in his company , he follows it but when on vacations he doesn't care( he is a VERY good husband, a very caring man and also very good provider) And same with many Americans. Lily, Americans! This  is not so bad if we accept this "being American"
They just dress themselvs so!
He is neat, cute and behaves according to his upbringing (I am saying it is too bad).

  Doll,

It would be a great world if people did not care about looks and just looked at inner qualities, but that's not the case. I can't be a hypocrite and say I want a woman who is beautiful, takes care of her looks, makes sure to keep in shape, intelligent, fun and stylish if I cannot give her much of the same. I may not be perfect. But I try to give as good as I expect.Too many men want a supermodel when they are unwilling to do anything about their clothes or weight.

I dare say a woman who lets herself go,wears slovenly and unflattering clothes, but thinks her personality is all I should look at is not one for me. Someone may accept her, but I'll pass. Even if that was the norm of dress in my area.

Also, I do agree many AM and AW go outside dressed horribly. But it does not mean just because everyone does it I should too. I've lived in NY and California and thank God many dress very well here. Style is very important to men and women.

Growing up in and being a teen the  80's many of my friends began to adopt the hip-hop style of wearing really big clothes with pants hanging off your butt(they still wear that today). I was the odd white boy in my neighborhood who thought it looked pretty stupid. So I never did understand that style. I guess everyone has their taste.

The subject of this video may be a good man but he is projecting an image that is much less than flattering.  Think about this for a moment.  #1 He is being taped for all to view and judge forever.  #2 He is meeting women he hopes to be his soul mate  #3 He has paid another man to hold his hand during the entire process

That certainly does not promote an impression of confidence or even the slightest hint of expressing the gravity of the situation.  If he is so nonchalant about this how serious can he be?  He either doesn't care or is the most naive man in America.  What else does he not have pride in?

To me he shows total disrespect for the women he is meeting.  They are not important enough for him to put forth a minimum of effort to dress and behave in a manner that might prove to be appealing.  A person has but one chance to make a good first impression and he fails miserably IMO.

We live in San Diego, which is probably the most casual area in the country for dress.  Still would never go out in public dressed like this man unless we were going on a picnic, working around the house or walking a trail.  My wife would be completely offended if I were to dress this way and we have been married for over nine years.

For a man to travel to the other side of the world to meet women potentially to be his wife and to dress and behave in such a way shows his total lack of class or lack of intelligence.  Or both.

Well I watched the videos on youtube a few weeks ago. Eventhough they said that the guy lived in Georgia I think, after watching it I was under the opinion that he sounded like he had an Irish accent. So say all you want about us AM, but I don't think that John is one. JMHO......Fred

There is an old expression.

A man is judged by his clothes when he walks into a room, and by his words when he walks out.
Tom Hanks in Castaway: You never know what the tide may bring in.
Viking: But you still need to walk along the beach to find it.
