Ronnie, this question was made in jest: "And have you ever asked the divorced RW why they drank so much?" and my apologies, it should have been RM, not RW.

If what you are saying is true (and I'm not saying that it isn't) then these guys were already drunks when the women married them.  So what precipitated the divorce?  There has to be more to the story.  Too often it is easy to place the blame on the husband and his drinking and we seem to easily accept that.  So you either have a woman who contributed to the divorce herself in some way or else one who makes poor choices in husbands.  I think it would be a good idea to find out which is the correct scenario before you get too serious with someone who cites this as the only reason for her divorce.

Well, my husband doesn't allow me to drive a car. Or to operate heavy machinery.

My wife paid for lessons in Moscow but with her travel schedule she attended only 3 sessions.  I breathed a quiet sigh of relief.  All her life had been buses and Metro trains, and knowing how driving is done in Moscow, I really was nervous about how she would transition to driving in a civilized setting outside Russia.

Unfortunately the driving company called her on the last week of classes and offered her a certificate/diploma for some $$$.  So she hit the road with 3 classes under her belt, of which two of those were classroom settings and one was driving on a quiet street sharing time with other students.

We got a car with the intention that I would do the teaching after returning from a business trip.  She picked up the car (RW are very independent) and had her first accident on the way home.  The next day she decided to take it to the insurance repair.  Her second accident happened en route.  Upon returning I inquired as to how the accidents had been "taken care of."  Good thing a cousin is a Militizya captain in the Kremlin district is all one can say.

This is a lady with 2 University degrees, a successful career, she speaks 4 languages fluently more than dabbles in several others.  She is highly creative and intelligent, but can she safely drive a car?

If I answer that question I will be sleeping out on the balcony all winter.   :cluebat:

(I spit three times) Mrs. Ronnie has now had her license for 3 months, and despite finding reason to drive each day, has not yet had a accident.  That's ignoring the previously mentioned bashed-in garage door which I don't count because she had no knowledge of it happening at the time it happened and still denies that it could have been her so under a doctrine of statute of limitations...her record is clean. (I spit three more times for good measure).

Ronnie, just tell your wife it was my fault. I was making a u-turn in your driveway (wherever that is) and hit your door. It has a hit and run but I am know owning up to it.
