Quick insight to me. I am a divorced father of 3 boys. I have a good job and a big heart. My brother and I were talking today about my dating woes. Which lead me to tell him that it would be easier to "find a mail order bride"... now don't hit me with a whammy... I know it is an inappropriate term. The point of this is the fact that the "dating scene" in not yielding a GOOD woman... yes women... just not women that want to be in a committed relationship.

After my comment to him I sat down in my chair and started reading a book and thoughts of meeting woman from other countries sounded odd but I had lived in Europe for a while as a boy and I have always thought that if "soul mates" was even a possibility... mine would most likely be one of a billion some Chinese women.

So .. a quick google search and I found (possibly unfortunately) what you guys call HRB... I started searching and was somewhat appalled by the photos on the site. But there were a few profiles that made interested.

I did a search on Wikipedia on "Mail order bride" and one of the things stated there is that in the Ukraine woman out number men 4-1 ... seems high... but it also says that there is a lot of guys that treat women bad there. Now I don't believe everything I read on the internet ... but Wiki is usually a very good source. Are these numbers true?

So back I went to this site... created a free membership and put my picture up. My inbox stands at 140+ emails just in the last 5 hours. Now ... this gives me cause for concern. A constant barrage of chat invites....

So ... back to the internet to do more research which lead me to this community... Now I realize patience is a virtue... and I have it in plenty. I don't expect to be married or together with ANYONE even and American girl overnight, never have expected that. In something like this I would not expect it even more ... I am extremely careful who I date or even have relationships with.

I truly am looking for the right person for the rest of my life. I don't need alternative methods to meet women as I am extremely out going... Women here seem to ... well the ones I have meet have a weird since of priorities.

I sure could use some directions...

First step: Think about whether this is a venture I can afford... Or better yet one that I can't afford to not do
Second step: Glean more information from the knowledge of others to make a sound decision.

Ultimately I really want to be happy in life... I really want to be with someone I can make happy and who wants to make me happy.

Many here could give better advice then me. However I can highly recommend to run as far away from HRB as you can.
They will be the most beautifulest Women you will never meet.
It is nothing more then a money trap of ladies getting paid to chat.
You will not meet these ladies in person. If you do it will come with a hefty price tag. HRB has one of the worst reputations in the business if not the worst.

Also being married to a lady from Ukraine I can say the 4 to 1 ratio is false.
I see just as many Men as Women there. Most of what you read is false. It is mainly a sales pitch or an excuse given to us as to why these Women search for a foreign husband.

Those stats are grossly distorted and usually we only see them from a Commercial member who is promoting their services - at a fee, of course.

There are plenty of agencies that are unscrupulous, and it is a challenge to find those who are honest and ethical. We have two resources to aid you. One is the Agency Code of Ethics now promoted at our Certified Marriage Agencies site. The ACoE could be, and should be, something you demand from ANY agency who seeks your business.

The other resource is found in the Left Frame, and is entitled; "Agency Card." It will lead you through a simple Q & A process to help you identify agencies that have some scruples.

In addition, there is a TON of information in the FAQ - perhaps a bit dated, but still fundamentally sound - and the RWDpedia - among other treasure troves of information.

Finally, be sure to review the *ONLY* credible research study and statistics ever conducted about Cross-Cultural Marriage and Divorce.

You have a lot of potential for success with RW.  Why do I say that?  Because you can smell when it is rotten in Denmark.  Not even Brad Pitt would receive 140 emails in 5 hours.

Admin's post is a good starting point for you.

Regarding your question about the ratio of women to men, it is about the same as in the USA, 1::1 in what you would call the dating ages.  About good men - the FSU is a man's world in the sense that men can get away with stuff that they would never attempt in the USA.  Nevertheless, there are many good men and many happy marriages.

To obtain a genuine assessment of how well you are received by FSU women, avoid HRB.  Instead, I suggest that you join Elena's Models (EM) and send a "wink" (Expression of Interest) to a few women who appeal to you.  The EM women receive a lot of attention, so you will not receive 140 emails.

If a RW is interested in you, she will respond.  She may send you her email address.  From there you can correspond with her as much as you want, and there is no fee other than the initial payment of $100 to join EM.

You have to exercise care because even EM has its occasional scammer.  

Try EM for a while.  Read the 10 commandments and FAQs under the main menu.  Search the archives.   Read the resources that Admin (Dan) suggested.  Then come back with you next round of questions.  We will help.

Roone, I just posted a long diatribe against HRB in another thread.  Remove your photo and profile from there as fast as you can, before they have a chance to sell your email address to every scamming agency and crook on the internet. 

Gator's advice is good and if you look around here you will see references to other methods for meeting FSUWs that do not involve agencies and do not cost money. 

Best of luck and really get off HRB before you get sucked into the vortex and waste a lot of money like I did.

I would second Gator's suggestion of joining Elena's Models.   I think more men met their wife through Elena's (include me) than any other single source.   You will get better results with one of their paid plans than the free membership so don't expect a lot for nothing. 

If you like free while you are getting your feet wet I would suggest freepersonals.ru.   There are a few scammers but a lot of good prospects and there is no charge for anything so you can't lose money. 

Don't waste your time and money on HRB.

Be careful on comparing telephones (sim cards) to population.  I have approximately 10-15 active sim cards for Ukraine and I am not a Ukraine citizen.  Most people I know have at least 2 active sim cards and a home phone.  That being said I still have not met one person in Ukraine with no mobile phone.

You did ask about the cost of this venture, well it's not a cheap adventurer, but the cost  vary depending on how you approach this process. Some guys will recommend the free sites, this will save the cost of paying an agency. I decided to go with Lifetime Partners, its a full service agency and they take care of their clients. It worked for me, my wife Anna and myself will be celebrating our five year anniversary this July.
