but JR.. dont you like the girl I set you up with?  Don't offend her!

I haven't seen "her" yet. Remember rule number three? "Don't fall in love with a photo." Need I mention names? CR ring a bell? :)

well maybe she just isn't photogenic?  Sometimes women look a lot better in real life.  And besides, I am sure she has skills.  :)

I did a search on Wikipedia on "Mail order bride" and one of the things stated there is that in the Ukraine woman out number men 4-1 ... seems high... but it also says that there is a lot of guys that treat women bad there. Now I don't believe everything I read on the internet ... but Wiki is usually a very good source. Are these numbers true?

According to the All-Ukraine population census 2001 there were 22,441 000 men (46,3%) and 26,016 000 women (53,7%) in 2001. http://www.ukrcensus.gov.ua/ The next population census will take place in 2011  ;)

Be careful on comparing telephones (sim cards) to population.  I have approximately 10-15 active sim cards for Ukraine and I am not a Ukraine citizen.  Most people I know have at least 2 active sim cards and a home phone.  That being said I still have not met one person in Ukraine with no mobile phone.

I met a pair of students in Kharkov who attended that medical college near the big statue of Lenin.  They actually had dual ownership I guess. They had one mobile phone and each had her own sim, sharing it (strange but true).  That's the closest I've ever seen to anyone at an "active" age not owning a phone. But, even that was three years ago.

Roone454, you might try www.freepersonals.ru or www.chance.crimea.ua
Now is a good time to start learning some Russian.  Also, if you don't have a passport, get it now.

About the cost, I spent approximately $4000 per trip to Ukraine.  Some of that was airfare from where I live to JFK, so your airfare may vary a lot.  I wasn't extravagant, but neither was I cheap.

If your kids live with you, you will need to consider what you are going to do with them while you make multiple trips out of the country.  Again, depending on where you live, you may well spend 2 days travelling each way, in addition to the time you actually spend over there.

Another thing to consider is whether a visa is required to travel to your lady's country. Not usually a big deal, but something to keep in mind when making travel plans.

Good luck!

Surprises me too. It's been the law in the US for a number of years now (don't know exactly how long) but anyone without a passport are forbidden to board an international flight. Dude must have lost his passport between check-in and arrival

There or about. I could be wrong but I think the mandatory passport was passed into law then but, didn't go into effect until 04 or 05. Prior to this, they didn't care if one possessed a passport to leave but only to re-enter. IIRC, 04 was the first time I had to produce my passport to board a flight to Mexico. Never had to previously

Probably depends also on the bilateral agreements between country of origin and destination.

Back in 1971 my wife and I were flying to London for house hunting and, while going through border control, she realised that she had forgotten her passport at home. The border policeman informed her that he could let her board the plane, but she'd be eventually refused entry to the UK on arrival, so she had to remain in Milan, the silly fool :(.

i don't know how he boarded a plane, but yesterday i read in the news that budapest airport workers forgot to put up border between schengen and non schengen arrival areas, resulting in a huge mess ! If they can forget stuff like that in some airports, it's not surprising they can forget to check your passport! He was in fact in ukraine though, cuz the girl asked to give the phone to the customs officer, and he did :D the good part is, he came back :) many would be too discouraged to try again.

Back in the early nineties I had to show my passport with visa before I could board the international flight to Moscow. I was a little peeved cuz I have buried it but then it made total sense. If I got there without it I'd be coming back on the next flight.

HRB is the acronym of the agency HotRussianBrides, which is well-know for having video girls who are online 18 hours a day to look for their future husband and charges high rates due to their expenses.
