As Nat said, it has been pretty mild here so far.No snow,ice, or even very cold temps yet, however, the prediction for this week is temps ranging from -10 to -20 at night, so it appears the fun may be beginning.

Ah well, nothing new to tell about this trip really. Everything is good so far.

Hehehe, why not? You could try You could be popular with the crowds of Black Sea beaches But don't swim too far from the shore, otherwise customs services might consider you to be a spy

Hey Nat! Thanks! Yeah, things are great. Wow, what a wild winter episode!  My flat does overlook the river, about 100 meters from the bridge --corner of Ilyicha and Constitutsia streets? something like that (scuba gear and mermaid hunting is a bit chilly at the moment) and it was very interesting to watch it go from flowing to solid white within 24 hours... :-) gotta run for now and brave the elements to go to the supermarket!  Just love being buried up to the knees with every step! Damn it's cold.

Hmmmm, perhaps those flippers would be a great substitute for snow shoes at the moment!  Throw in a spear gun to deal with some of these idiot drivers!

Daveman, you live not far from me Oh, it's a snowy winter! I think, there haven't been so much snow for more than 20 years, and till yesterday, I'd never seen it raining while it's -6! It's like weird Siberian winter with spring rains now and then Hold on, Gismeteo.ua says on the 30th of December it'll be +1 - -1, as it is always here this time of year, at least not so cold!

I didn't arrange to have internet connected in my flat while I was in Donetsk. Didn't think I would need it and as it turned out I really didn't. But it's useful so the first night I was there I sat at my table in the kitchen and saw two routers but both were security enabled
That prompted me to walk around and see what happened. After being all around the flat I found that if I placed my laptop on the window ledge with the window open I could access an unsecured router. Once connected I could (usually) bring the laptop back in (it actually had to be protruding a little bit outside of my 5h floor window to connect
By the third day I was having to put the laptop partially outside the window or have the window open with the laptop on top of a bowl in order to get reception! It was funny enough that I had to take a photo...

to JR--I know this is a very late post.  I am just wondering, did you ever get any good dates??  I don't recall reading about what happened with you.  all of a sudden you were back home, but there was no TR about your dates???!!!
